It was a shock that a 99 year old woman died? I mean, not trying to be insensitive, but when someone reaches 90+ years of age you shouldn't be shocked when they pass.

This episode was hyped to the moon when I was 12, and the hype was entirely justified!! I remember staying up late to watch it live first time I did that but not the last.

10 years later, and this is still one of the funniest cold opens SNL has ever had. I can't even breathe when Doonice starts playing with his mouth while Betty yells "NO!". Betty White was so good! Her acting was so sincere. It's what made her comedy so great. She was such an amazing actress. And Kristin Wigg is just f--king awesome. We still miss you, Betty White. R.I.P. you magnificent woman. You will always be one of the all-time comedy greats.
My folks and I watched The Lawrence Welk Show every Saturday Night and Dad and I would watch SNL as well. SNL with Dan Aykroyd, Steve Martin, John Belushi, Jane Curtin, Gilda Radner, etc. FYI, Lawrence Welk was born in the US. He was born on March 11, 1903 in Strasburg, North Dakota. Welk didn't even learn to speak English until he was twenty-one and never felt comfortable speaking it in public. I loved both TV shows!
