I have completed the steps to become a IHSS provider, orientation, enrollement forms, background… but Is there another process that needs to be completed to be a provider for MY child?

My child is homeschooled and has no therapy at this time, it's been a welcome break for my child, therapy was too stressful. Our doctor is out on leave so we have no recent professionals to dictate their disabilities. I didn't even know it would be required. The due date for paperwork was over a month away but the SW is saying it's a nicety that they can set up an appointment ASAP after I already mentioned these problems. With no IEP and no routine medical professionals I don't know how we are supposed to get sufficient proof last minute. We sent an old IEP, we have old medical bills but we have learned a lot how to avoid accidents; constant supervision. I know many people who get IHSS but don't have the needs our child does and they get it because they go to the doctors every month and have therapists etc so it seems unfair.
Hi Brittany, we're so sorry to hear about all the stress you and your family are under. I've spoken with our IHSS expert, and she agreed that you need to get a signed health certificate from your doctor in order to get IHSS. Hi, you can apply right now, but the doctor has to sign the health care certification form (SOC 873) before they’ll schedule a home visit to assess for hours. www.cdss.ca.gov/cdssweb/entres/forms/english/soc873.pdf
Hi I have a question when does the retroactive pay starts ? Is it from the day of the authorized start date they gave me? Or after the orientation and background check?
Hello! Retroactive pay starts from the date you applied for IHSS, as long as you were providing the services at that time and continued to do so. Hope this helps!

what do you do after your approval?
You’ll get instructions on how to register as a provider and how to submit the timesheets for retro benefits!
We got approved 2 years ago my wife just got her ssn so she couldn't get haired do you know if the payment Sill retroactive ?
I believe in order to be paid as a provider you have to be able to work legally in the US, so I don’t think they would pay someone who wasn’t eligible at the time they provided services. If someone else was providing care and the child was eligible to have a third party provide services during that time, they might be eligible for retroactive payment. I hope this helps!
