    I know a family with two special needs children. One with autism and the other with down syndrome. Both parents have only been able to work part time providing cleaning services and odds and ends work. Can both parents be providers for both children, one for each child perhaps? They are struggling with rent payment and costs of daily living. TIA

    Hi. My father had an IHSS reassessment on 6/17/2024. His hours were increased and his notice of action was received on 7/24/2024 with a notice date of 7/19/2024. It shows on the Notice of Action an effective date for the increase of services is 8/01/2024. My question is, shouldn't his increase in services be effective back to the date of the reassessment which is 06/17/2024?

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I became a provider and started working in July 2023; I received the Career Pathway Program email on July 8, 2024. However, I have 2 questions I am wondering if you could take the time to answer them for me. Q1: Is the 15 hours of training mandatory or I do it as needed? Q2: In the email, it says "Providers will need to complete their 15th hour under a specialized pathway on or before April 30, 2024, and work a minimum of 40 hours a month for their recipient from May to November in order to meet the eligibility requirements to submit the six (6) month incentive claim". How do I complete 15 hours of training before April 30, 2024, when I received this email on July 8, 2024? Thank you!

    A provider being in-network for both private insurance and managed care-plan (aka Medi-Cal in California) is usually impossible. Providers in private insurance are not the same providers as in Medi-Cal or providers do not accept both private insurance and Medi-Cal insurance. That's usually the problem. What do you do if you have a co-pay fees or an unpaid balance from your private insurance? Can Medi-Cal pay for those fees if you're a low-income single parent? The service is psychiatry/psychological services covered by both private and managed care plans HOWEVER, almost always by different centers/providers. I haven't had any providers/center for psychiatry/psychological care that accept my private insurance and Medi-Cal. I have an old balance from when I had private insurance as a college student (co-pay or missed appointment fee) that I was billed for the week before graduating that I keep getting notices to pay. I've had Medi-Cal before being a college student and immediately after (my current state employment's insurance is no different than Medi-Cal). I cannot afford the three digit $$$ balance. What do I do before it goes to collections and it affects my credit score?

    • @undividedapp

      Hello, I don’t know with certainty. The paychecks arrive from the same payor and are subject to the same tax and overtime rules as regular IHSS hours for live in providers (for example, the hours are pooled for the purpose of determining overtime), but SSI may have their own take on this, especially for the incentive bonuses as opposed to the training time. How would it work if child has an absent parent or in a split home scenario? … and is the parent able to provide care to younger sibling when caring for the child with disabilities?

    • @undividedapp
      @undividedapp Месяц назад

      Hi Lily! In cases of absent parents or split homes, IHSS services are typically provided by the parent or legal guardian with primary custody, possibly extending to designated caregivers. Regarding the care of younger siblings while caring for a child with disabilities, IHSS services are generally allocated based on the specific needs of the individual receiving care. If the parent or caregiver is responsible for both the child with disabilities and younger siblings, IHSS may cover caregiving tasks related to the child's disability but may not extend to routine childcare duties for the younger siblings unless they are also eligible for IHSS services due to their own disabilities or special needs. Hope this helps!

    My question is, if I’ve been a care provider for my son for the past 2 years and I just completed the 15th of training this month, do I have to wait an additional 6 months for incentive 3 or does the time I’ve been working over the last 2 years count towards that “6 months of providing care” I work over 40hrs a month.

    • @undividedapp
      @undividedapp 2 месяца назад

      Hello! It's another six months. CDSS has indicated that you don't need to complete Incentive 2 to qualify for Incentive 3. In that case, you might be able to get the six-month bonus as long as you submit the Incentive 3 claim on or before November. However, if they change their stance and require Incentive 2 to be completed before Incentive 3, then it would be too late to qualify for the six-month bonus. This is because the classes needed to be completed by April 30 to qualify for both Incentive 2 and 3. Does that make sense? Additionally, this assumes the hours were completed in a specialized pathway related to the consumer’s authorized hours. You can submit for Incentive 1 now. Hope this helps!

      Hello! Retroactive pay starts from the date you applied for IHSS, as long as you were providing the services at that time and continued to do so. Hope this helps!

    Hi I applied like 10 years ago and it was denied but this year I applied again for the same condition and it was approved,my question is what can I do to get some retroactive for the years that I take care of my daughter without receiving any payment and she has intelectual disability and autism plus pica and other things we had so many struggles because I was denied and I didn't know that I could have appeal for the services

      @undividedapp 3 месяца назад

      Hi! Unfortunately, once you don’t appeal a decision, you can’t go back and get retro - the notice of action gives information on appeal rights so when you were denied they also gave you instructions on how to appeal. Additionally, there were likely services she wasn’t eligible for then that she is eligible for now based on age, especially if she was very young when you applied. Hope this helps!

    So if you both work full time could one parent quit their job to be a parent provider?

    • @undividedapp
      @undividedapp 3 месяца назад

      Hello! Rules about parents working full time or part time are no longer applicable. Either parent can be the provider and still work. You just can’t log IHSS hours during your work hours. Hope this helps!

    Hello and thank you for this video. May you clarify some things for me so that I can fully understand? I feel lost. Here are my questions below: 1. Is it accurate that once I submit hours under (training time) and they get approved, that's when I go and submit for Training Incentives? Because the incentives can only be submitted when my (training time) gets approved? 2. If this is the case, am I able to submit for Training Incentives for (training time) that was approved months ago? Or, is there a timeframe or window of time to submit (training time) for Training Incentives? I appreciate any assistance with this. Ms. Pi

      @undividedapp 3 месяца назад

      Hello! The hours you get paid for training time are separate from the incentive. Yes, once you’ve been paid for the training hours you can claim the incentive, as long as you have 15 hours in the same pathway. Hope this helps!

      Hi! We suggest enrolling in self-paced classes, with Homebridge offering several options. Additionally, consider subscribing to the email lists of various course vendors, particularly Homebridge and CCA, to receive notifications when new classes become available. Hope this helps!

    My child is homeschooled and has no therapy at this time, it's been a welcome break for my child, therapy was too stressful. Our doctor is out on leave so we have no recent professionals to dictate their disabilities. I didn't even know it would be required. The due date for paperwork was over a month away but the SW is saying it's a nicety that they can set up an appointment ASAP after I already mentioned these problems. With no IEP and no routine medical professionals I don't know how we are supposed to get sufficient proof last minute. We sent an old IEP, we have old medical bills but we have learned a lot how to avoid accidents; constant supervision. I know many people who get IHSS but don't have the needs our child does and they get it because they go to the doctors every month and have therapists etc so it seems unfair.

      Hi Brittany, we're so sorry to hear about all the stress you and your family are under. I've spoken with our IHSS expert, and she agreed that you need to get a signed health certificate from your doctor in order to get IHSS. If you need more help, please feel free to refer to some more of our resources here: undivided.io/resources/goals/apply-for-ihss-43

    Hello. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. This was very helpful. I had a question about the difference between "training time" and "training incentive." On the IHSS website, the two are listed under "career pathways claim type." I was not sure which one to choose if I were to submit hours for taking classes?

    • @undividedapp
      @undividedapp 3 месяца назад

      Hi Victoria! training time is for the hours spent in classes. Training incentive is incentive #1. Hope this helps!
