One of the most underrated artists ever
I been wearing this song out over that last few months. My husband told me I should be tired of playing it. He might be right BUT NOT TONIGHT!!
😁😁😁

Awesomeness

I'm tickled
This is my new sober song. Been struggling with alcohol the last 8 years. Have 3 months sober now.
Great Job!!!! Keep it up 👍🏾
e. Jones awww thank you
Congratulations. It’s a hard habit to kick
You still got it
Hope you're still going strong!
Addiction is a powerful enemy 😢😢😢😢
This hits like "Footsteps in the Dark"
Raphael Saadiq has a hidden message in this song. He lost 4 siblings. 1 brother to an overdose and another committed suicide because he couldn't shake the habit and couldn't fight his demons. Sister died in a car acccident and I forget what happened to the other brother. This is one of those rare times in his music career where he released this onto his music. I've been a fan of his for a long time. This is music.
Terrell Lewis you’re right. The other brother was murdered.

I can identify with this message. My daddy was strung out on that stuff, while I was in elementary and middle school but by the time I hit high school he quit cold turkey. He's been 20+ years clean and I am a very proud daughter, and I may just purchase this for the both of us. Thank you Raph!!

That is such a blessing!
I love your story. may god keep his arms around yall.
Nurse Rawkii Joy Yes congratulations Dad, my dad did the same, we now attend church together and he ministers to the same ppl he did drugs with and more. He is over outreach ministries now as well. Very proud Daddy’s Girl.
Blessings to you and your family for staying strong!
Can we just give an applause for music that speaks for something? Vocals spot on and the video is visually perfect.

absolute Genius. Raphael Saadiq is one of my favorite musicians and artists. Thank you Raphael for your great contribution to music and culture. I came up in the projects and saw so many fiends. I am guilty of even serving them. But I changed my whole life around years ago. But seeing friends, and family and fiends in the hood, etc. this resonates heavy.. I can also relate on a personal level (not dealing with addiction). The feeling of desperation, of lost hope, with a heavy heavy burden that only you can feel... too deep.. ABSOLUTE GENIUS!
Praying for everyone, hope you're all okay. Fighting or recovering from any addiction or vice.....got some tough times right now, quit smoking and cut down on the alcohol. Love y'all, you can do it !
My mom was a victim of drugs and domestic violence even though she was going through the storm she loved her kids and took great care of us. We had a lot of dark days in our family but the good times we're so priceless. I hold those Joyous moments in my heart everyday. I love you so much Mom with all of my heart rest in heaven🙏❤

Saw Raphael in concert last night in Austin, Texas. I was in the front row and enjoying every minute of him it. One brief moment I closed my eyes and thought I was in the 80's. I hadn't been to a concert in many years so it was a complete thrill to see one of my favorite artist giving every bit of his being to deliver songs there were introspective reflections on experiences of his older brother who struggled with drug addiction. So many loyal Gen X'ers & Boomers showed up along with a new generation of fans. It was a great mix of chocolate in a vanilla city. The musicians were tight. The bass player looked like he dropped off from time capsule from a 60's Led Zeppelin concert. That man was funky. The guitarist was amazing in his own rite, kind of throwing off the Dez Dickerson vibes (from the very first Prince band). The drummer held it together as Raphael switched from singing and strumming his cool looking Telecaster. It was R&B synergy-and worth every dime of it -including sweating in that Texas heat. Oh baby you had to be a die heart to endure that kind of heat. Cheers to Raphael Saadiq, I feel a Grammy coming.
I hear you miss. I was also at the Austin show and he brought that place to it's knees!
Cara Harpole wow. What a great review. Thanks. I'll be sure to see him here in Chicago in Feb. Have ALWAYS rocked with him ; so dope!
Thanks for the review. I am going to see him in Norfolk, VA now that you gave a deep evaluation of experiencing his concert. Thanks again.

My Dad suffered from Drug addiction my early childhood. He relapsed twice before he made the choice to leave drugs for good by the time I was 13 and we are now 35 and 70. I never gave up on my Father because through it all, he was still an amazing Dad to me. This is our Song ❤️
Let’s give this man his flowers while he can still smell them. 🌹❤️ This sound like some old school Tony! Toni! Toné & I’m here for it.👌🏾😌
Am I the only one who hears traces of "Footsteps in the Dark" by the Isley Bros.? (Later became the hook for Ice Cube's "It Was A Good Day")

Saddiq must of realized the need for that 90s-2000s rnb sound to be revived. The rnb music community has been on life support for a while now. Thanks for bringing us back.
Are we making a 90s comeback? I support the 90s movement back to the mainstream.
Thank you Rapheal for saying something.
So BLESSED to have experienced Raphael Saadiq over these decades. Since my middle school years to now my 40s....❤❤❤❤❤ this is a bop!
Raphael Saadiq is the truth. So talented.
One of our great R&B artists from back in the day. Bring us back to once upon a time.
Song of the year for me ..Hands down..
Song is so sad, especially knowing what inspired it, but I love it.
My grandfather been on drugs my entire life and I don’t talk to him at all. But after listening to this song over and over and over again I started to empathize with my grandad struggle. I think I’m gonna visit him when I go home for the holidays this year b4 it’s to late.
DONY WAIT FOR A HOLIDAY... GO ASAP... LIFE IS TOO SHORT FRFR.
Early recovery I was given a cassette with his group and I wore it out...it gave the feels back then...29 years off the shit.
This song reminds me of my mother and father. Both were heavy drug addicts and alcoholics. I am just starting to heal from 30 plus years of that life. I had to cut my entire family off because it was so toxic. This song makes me cry if, my mom was alive I am sure this would be her message. Thank you for this!
I am a 60 year old music lover. This song turns me out. I thank young artist for inspiring grown folk music lovers like me. Great song.
Something keeps calling ME...I can't get enough of Raphael!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My brother struggled for 20 years and this resonates with me, he passed in 2017 because it just would not let him go.
I'm so in love with this song. I have a family member who has been struggling with this devil since HIGH SCHOOL.....
And what's also sad, I'm in love with a alcoholic who I wished I could get him to slow down. Because we only have one chance in life and that's to get it right. 🙏🙏🙏😢😢😢
5 people who don't recognize great music... how could anyone dislike?
510 people who don't know what good music sounds like...
Heavy. I can feel your heart in it, gives me chills. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Those demons have affected many families....perfect message...
Just lost my brother Jimmy H.
He was in recovery for over year.
However he succumbed to liver cancer from years of using .
I encourage people to seek help from all addictions .
Love this song and thank you Raphael for using your platform to help others.
RIP to brother, I'm so sorry. Much love
I realized that addicts are not lost they just know that love is missing or being distorted and it causes them to go mad with grief. While the rest of us are still not being authentic with the divine. One psychological “ said that when he interviews an addict the first feeling they got when they tried heroin” they said it felt like a mothers embrace.
I'm a 41 year old, half mexican half irish american... This is man has talent on loan from God!!!
Raphael Saadiq always did wear his influences on his sleeve. This is the Isley Brothers through and through. Great track.
What's crazy is that he actually produced the dopest tracks on the last Isley Brothers album. ruclips.net/video/Mzo16qzxfSc/видео.html.
