Wow, this is one of the best reviews i've ever come across from the lens of someone completely new to both the P1S, and 3D printing as a whole.
You pretty much nailed all of the intricacies and marvels i've had when I first started out in this hobby, as well as give an amazing perspective on what it means to 3D print vs the JOURNEY to 3D printing (Tinkering printers vs printers that just work)
    Bravo, 10/10 video

I was so impressed with how well my Ender 3 v2 printed...when it was functioning properly. I definitely learned a lot about that machine since I spent so much time fixing and upgrading it.
I recently bought a P1S and I'm blown away with the difference. I'm glad I decided to go with the P1S with AMS combo.

Im obsessed with being able to just pick which filament you want and it just doing all the work for you. I've printed more in the last month that I've had it than I did in the last 2 years with my enders.

I LOVE my X1C but you're right, unless you really want to push the limits of the machine, it just works. Once I got into high detail designs and transparent prints, I didn't really have that same passion. As soon as I started tinkering, I spent hours every night after work trying over and over again. I love it

Unbelievable how we came to the same conclusion. I also have a 15-year experience with drones, used to build them myself until DJI came and then there was no point building them anymore. All those open source Arduino- based flying contraptions, Microcopters etc. suddenly became obsolete. When I got my P1S, after playing with it for several days it dawned on me -- this is another DJI through and through. A printer that "just works", great build quality, closed ecosystem. Moreover, the current Bamboo lineup kind of mirrors DJI's: we have A series (mini and Mavic air), P series (regular and professional Mavics), X series (Inspire). Now bamboo is probing the enterprise zone with x1e. We haven't seen the counterparts of Matrice yet, but I'm sure they are to come. Exciting, isn't it?

The intro is very well worded.
And exactly what pisses so many off who go into the Bambu groups to try and talk crap and troll.
I enjoyed the learning of my first printers, mechanical, hardware, software; they were already skills I had but as the years went on I was spending more time chasing quality and consistency and realized it was well over 1/2 my interaction with the thing; not to mention it'd never be near as fast as any core x-y example.
I sold the old printers, got a P1S, and now that time spent fiddling is now going to be spent really learning 3D design, highly recommend the touch screen mod; mainly for heating the hot end or moving the bed without having to hit the button 4500 times or fire up the app/go to a PC.
It's like a dishwasher, it's about the time you don't spend doing dishes; doing something else.
5:13 - I assume this is 'glass' PETG? How low did you end up on speed for this? What brand filament? I'm about to start in on it myself.

      @sn0ren  8 месяцев назад +1

Yeah it’s Bambu Lab translucent PETG. I followed the guide on the Bambu lab wiki site about printing transparently. So about 20mm/s and flow rate of 1.01

I have been researching for over a month, daily, to decide on which printer to get as my first. I like tinkering but I also like when stuff works out of the box and is easy to maintenance and clean. I have been eyeing the MK4/P1S/X1C but also cheaper models like used MK3s+ or Neptune 4s/Sovolos. I really don't like the closed source approach of Bambulabs and the whole cloud thingy. However, I will go with the P1S for now. Your video pushed me over the edge. Also, your user name is VERY similar to mine when I started out on the interwebs back in 2002, hah. Do you have a ref link?

    • @sn0ren

It must be fate haha. Don’t have any referral link. You can choose to use lan only and not have anything sent to bambus servers if that bothers you.

I want to buy this printer but the design part is what very big learning curve and i am still thinking if it is worth to add another hobby to my list with the very little time i have available for. my current rc planes hobby.

    • @sn0ren

It's an old industrial building on the dock of the city I live in (Odense, Denmark). You can use the printer in lan only mode, then nothing goes to the cloud. But of course then the live video feed doesn't work if you're out for a walk.

No thanks. I’ll pass on Bambu Labs.. That AMS gets jammed when using PETG too much in my experience using a Bambu P1S.. And customer support is the same you would expect at a Chinese restaurant.. The Prusa XL 5 head destroys everything Bambu has ever made 💯💯 Mulit Tool heads are FAR more superior than AMS
