- Carbs are friends, not foe ❤️👏 Adding them in strategically to each meal is a suuuuuper important first step towards eating with no food rules. It actually helps your body heal the damage that dieting has done and to help strengthen your hunger & fullness cues. This part of something I call "biological reconditioning" and is the very first step towards learning to eat intuitively! Link below to snag a full 1 week plan to help you do it (and it will help ya avoid intuitive eating turning into one big binge fest!)

As a german I would simply die, would someone tell me I couldn't have bread every single day multiple times.
As a french, same as you.
probably should have just put western European lol
Bread in Europe is a lot less processed then bread in America
If I can't have my rye, someone going to die.
Same across all of europe. YOU CANNOT TAKE OUR BREAD!
Colleen raises an excellent point about lack of carbs and mood disturbances.
So does the lululemon girl
Also sugar. I can not imagine my life without chocolate or ice-cream. At least once a week.
I didn't know that was a thing but it makes a lot of sense
@@anastasiayuganova4246that has more to do with eating food you love and less with brain chemistry.
Yes 100%
Okay your videos have really changed my perspective on life. I realized a couple weeks ago that I haven’t eaten without thinking about the calories or feeling guilty if I overeat or put “unhealthy” food in my body since I was FOURTEEN. Ive watched your videos in the past but brushed them off pretty quickly. I restarted watching your videos the beginning of last week and I told myself one night that I would give myself a day to just eat. Not a “cheat” day or a “last day before a diet” and eat everything I can sort of day. Just eat. And it was life changing. It’s been almost 2 weeks since I just let myself eat without analyzing it and I feel so much better. And I’m leaving this comment for anyone who might be watching, this voice that tries to keep you thinking about diets will definitely take time to go away if it ever does. It creeps in and I have to let myself just let the voice pass.
That's awesome!! I relate a lot! My issues with food began at the start of elementary school because of bullying and later developed into several eating disorders that I'm still trying to recover from haha,,. Keep it up and take care of yourself ♡♡♡
I'm so happy for u. I hope I will be able to also
7 months later I hope you're doing good ❤
@@BroOkBruh ❤️ I am doing great! I have a better relationship with food (not perfect) but doing better. It’s not my obsession anymore. I know what makes me feel good and what doesn’t. I did a lot of work around the feelings I have related to food and it was very freeing!
I just wish she'd make more shorts on actual nutrition. I'm not learning anything specific from her shorts tbh.
Ma'am please don't stop these skits. I'm getting married in two months and have been stressing about my weight my whole engagement. Your skits are helping me chill out and just enjoy this time more❤
Swap a bell pepper? Sure! Would be great on the sandwich instead of lettuce 😊
Underrated 🙌
@paulawarren9804that sounds awesome! Thankyou for the food recommendation I need to try that now
Or in addition to! I love sammies with loads of veggies 😋
I work in an eating disorder inpatient program and these videos are super awesome! I love the positive messages about developing healthier relationships with food!!
Us Asians who eat rice 3x a day: 😳😳
No rice or noodles, not a meal
Rice is necessity
I went on the keto diet for three months. I lost 30 lbs, but that was the moodiest and angriest I think I’ve ever been in my life. 😅
Different for everyone. I did 3 years straight of keto then dirty keto since then. I am alot more moody and agitated when I’m not on keto since I’m sensitive to day gluten and have hyperinsulinemia
@@christianasmatson2075I have had the same experience. I guess as much inflammation as gluten causes the general population it does affect some of us more than others. Which is unfortunate because im one of the “others” but I also have an addiction to bread I have curve 😭 I would say it isn’t as bad as it was when I was in my younger eating sandwiches for every meal.
I much prefer fats and proteins (keto) for steadier energy. I guess it’s also how you frame it and what your goal is when you start the diet. Cognitive reframing is definitely important in how a person experiences an experience. Someone that is also super addicted to carbs that goes into keto cold turkey is definitely going to have a bad time. Especially one that is going into it *just* for weight loss and not for the prolonged energy fats offer brain performance. Im guessing the mental benefits of Keto require a little more time. I’ve been on and off keto for about 8 years so I’m sensitive to it’s benefits and disadvantages when I’m not on it.
Were you supplementing with electrolytes and were you actually in ketosis?
I love the way you are deconstructing these ideas. I’m struggling with disordered eating right now and these videos are always so nice to see.
As a german, I cannot relate. Breakfast bread, extra bread for lunch and dinner is called evening-bread for a reason so
Gosh, I needed to hear this right now. I'm going to picnicking today, so I'm making waffles and fancy sandwiches, but I used to never consume all the pastries that I enjoy making because of my ed. But now that I'm trying to recover, those types of videos help me so-so-so much as now I totally understand that carbs nor fats will make me "fat" or something and even if I'll gain weight, it is much needed. So, thank you so very much for all your work, you're a literal savior for everyone on that hard and scary recovery road
How did your picnic go 😊
As I always say, life is all about balance
The lettuce on your sandwich sounded so deliciously crisp 🤤
I noticed that too. That's the kind of crisp goodness I like to add extra to a sandwich. Although my sandwich preference is techinically "salad on bread" lmao. I have to remind myself to add protein.
@@EuricyChan "salad on bread" definitely describes the kind of sandwich I like too! I find sandwiches with no vegetables kind of gross and way too meaty. I gotta have my veggies too so there's a balance!
Creators like you are why I've been able to learn how to have a better relationship with food
Thanks for this! I eat a sh*t ton of carbs, but honestly struggle with repeating the same carb in a day or doubling up on carbs in the same meal. Dumb non-sensical food rules!
this makes me feel better about having peanut butter toast for breakfast and a hommade mini-pizza on naan bread for lunch
2 slice of bread with avocado and eggs+tomatoes and cucumber with a little bit of extra virgin olive oil+some seasoning is my favourite breakfast now.
If I want something sweet I have overnight Weetabix layered with some yoghurt and strawberries+70% melted dark chocolate on top 😋 .
She would have a heart attack in The Netherlands
really most western European countries lol
@@pink-flower. actually in europe in general .
@@pink-flower. europe, middle east and big part of central asia , some eat bread everyday , pretty much with every meal
Lol yes very low rate of obese people in Western Europe. People tend to get obese by eating more ‘American’ type foods like ice cream and fast food. Not from a couple of sandwiches a day
@@dechroous2993yeah, theres also a bunch of bread here in india.
Kinda happy that you make this content. I thought I was alone facing someone like that at home but this is relatable and I feel safe watching your videos. Thank you so much! You’re doing amazing btw
Thank you so much! I'm so glad they are helpful for you. You are amazing!!❤
I have an ED and my brain has convinced me that I can only have one slice of bread once in a while. Today I'm having a whole sandwich because the way you ate that sandwich made me want to take really big bites of a sandwich 😢
Hope ur doing better now
I LIVE of carbs and yet I am EXTREMELY skinny. It’s called genetics and it all comes down to your family. Oh an YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!
It isn’t genetics and it doesn’t come down to your family you just don’t eat very much
it’s not genetics, you’re just thin because you’re not overeating
@@falling_awayyypeople can overeat and still be extremely thin, i used to be extremely picky, but after trying new foods i ate everything i was offered. thin doesn’t necessarily mean healthy, let’s not confuse the two.
@@falling_awayyy I literally overeat constantly and hardly work out, but I've always been thin. Yes, genetics plays a huge role.
Thank you for this reminder 😭😭💖💖💖
The way I got scared when you said eating bread two times a day 😭 This is something I can work on!
Hey I am so in love w your content please make it for as long as you can
Severe TBI survivor here with crazy food allergies that come with it : Thank You for explaining the brain Must have carbs to function properly!! Intuitive eating has been part of brain injury recuperation after finding out what I’m currently are (or becoming) intolerant to - lots of taking out certain foods altogether just to keep blood sugar at good levels!! I really don’t want to be comatose ever again!! (for context: my car was T-boned by a very bad driver while I was in a parking lot minding my own business - totally made my life unrecognizable any longer). I appreciate your realism!!
Yes👏 I went on a diet via a weight loss clinic and they had me eating pounds and pounds of green veg on the daily. Essentially no carbs at all.
I had tried low carb and keto before but that very brief diet session has changed me into a believer in macronutrients! I will never cut out carbs again. I can still remember how miserable I felt everyday and the surge of energy I got as soon as I had a bowl of rice
Thank you for this video. I feel so much less distressed about making decisions about what I eat. I am trying to gain more weight after becoming disordered in my eating. I often want to eat a sandwich to fill myself up but sometimes I have this thought that it’s too much bread so I shouldn’t. Good to know it’s okay.
Watching these videos feels like eating your favorite comfort food under the blankets on a rainy day 😊
That breakfast sounds bomb
As an italian, carbs are life, most italians struggle to eat a meal w protein each day, sometimes we just eat pizza twice or pasta twice or one and one, ive never gained wait
This is so true, like yes be healthy but also the reason you try to be healthy is so you can enjoy your life and wing afraid to each a freakin sandwich is not enjoying life
I've been watching some of your videos and this one specifically made me realize how much happier I am when I let myself eat, going through your vids are helping me on my ED recovery and I just want to thank you :]
I LIGIT THINK IM FT THIS MAKES ME FEEL SO HAPPY THANK YOU🎉😊❤
I really appreciate these videos ❤❤
This was the exact convo me and my mother had every other day of my teenage years 🫠🫠
Bread has been keeping humans alive for 10,000 years, who are we to disrespect bread?
That explains why i was always cranky and moody back in high school when i struggled with eating disorders. I believed untrue extreme things about health, she literally mentions here so many things i used to believe which is such a reminder, and i would make similar health mistakes as she mentions here, like thinking i had to severely restrict my bread intake and couldn't have bread or carbs too many times in a day, like if i had it once already then I'd feel it necessary to prevent myself eating it the next meal even if i was craving it.
I think it would be funny to watch food rules talk to a French person
i am on my toast phase currently, and i indeed really enjoyed having 2 toasts for breakfast and 2 toasts for dinner❤ (cheese, cherry tomatoes, green olives and some cucumbers and hot peppers on the side😍)
So as someone who is a bit heavier than most people her age, it wasn’t bread that made me gain all of my weight, it was a mixture of fast food because my grandparents never cooked anything remotely healthy if even at all, and peanut butter. I was taking it by the spoonful because my needs were not being met.
Easily the best Colleen on the Internet. Like is there really any *good* competition?
As an Arab, I don't carewhat people say, I'm still eating bread
And our rice is to die for 😢
I NEEDED THIS CUZ I ALWAYS ALWAYS OVER THINK ABOUT THIS SPECIFICALLY 💔💔😭😭
Did you know that the act of cooking food makes it more appealing? That might be the reason why I feel unhappy with a bowl of cereal in each school morning. I’m going to make some eggs 🍳 😁
Oh I hate when people say I look good in any thing because I'm skinny. I only look good because I'm confident!
the french have bread at every meal... and copiously at dinner ;)
This is a little weird, but one thing that helps me with stress around eating is thinking about how my ancestors often struggled to find food. Like my ancestors probably ate some stuff we would never eat now, and some of them def ate tons of "unhealthy" foods like bread or sugar. But the fact that I'm here means it worked for them. So maybe all I need to do is eat what works for me, and that's enough
1.If you look at all the humans of history the vast majority never and processed grains of added sugars. 2. They only needed to live to the age 20 to have kids 3. It didn’t work for them they died very young 4. Eat good food and you won’t crave unhealthy food
Thank you for making this video!! After i normally eat toast or any other bread i try to avoid it for my next meal. I always feel gulity
Have you seen those bell pepper sandwiches on social media? Like, using 2 bell pepper halves in place of bread? They look pretty ridiculous, but I actually like bell peppers so I might try one sometime.
I love your channel and how you've dedicated yourself to stopping all the fake new age diet trends. Keep that up! We need more of it!!
I needed this
Carbs are better than sugar in terms of energy retention. So if you have a long day ahead, I suggest having some bread/rice!
This makes no sense sugar is a carb
@@jacobheisler2564 No, no, I mean like highly processed sugar when being compared to something like rice. Sorry, I explained it badly😅
@@Paradigm-Shift208 I hate it when people reply so nice because I can’t get mad at them
@@jacobheisler2564 Pfft😂. I understand what you mean. But I get pleasantly surprised, prolonged anger can most definitely shorten your lifespan😅
I love sandwiches! Sometimes my breakfast is just a peanut butter sandwich and it's great or toast with egg and avocado that extra bit of carbs really satiates me I never want to not have carbs again
OH MY GOD I LOVE AVOCADOS ON MY SANDWICH TOO!
As a swimmer, can confirm we need those carbs
Yes, omg!!! I used to have to sneak food just to stay at a healthy weight during swim track!
Oxygen and glucose are what is needed for the Brain. You can get those multiple ways besides carbs
You are killing us with kindness. 😊
Sadly you can swap out "food rules" with "mom" and for most women that is the reality 😔
Damn that clapback😂😂😮
The sandwich crunch is making me hungry 😂
Thank you for these videos I don't feel guilty for eating sweets or chips no more😊
I like a lot of your videos as I live with an "almond grandma" but this video just spoke to me. Sometimes I have a bagel for breakfast and then have a sandwich later on in the day and feel really, really horrible about, despite not really having hangups about what I eat.
Lmao nice touch there at the end 😏
"not eatin enough carbs makes you cranky and moody"
*sobs in always cranky and moody no matter how much/less bread i eat*
Bread is my favorite thing ever. I simply cannot survive without it.
The zinger at the end did it for me. 😂
There is nothing better in this world than freshly bake bread with butter 😋
me watching this while eating instant noodles: 😯🍜
The very observant of you, got me like 😂
Well now I want to try peanut and banana toast.
Never had it but it sounds tasty 😋
Carbs are life
OMG that sandwich looks sooooo good 😋
I literally have a sandwich for every single meal. I ❤ carbs.
I do love me some carbs. Bread and pasta is my life however the bell pepper sandwich with some mayo, pickle, and spam is really yummy
The beauty with IE is that all foods fit! Glad you are finding what you enjoy!
im actually so glad i saw this today bc i ate bread twice today and was panicking if i ate too much and if this was bad but now i know its okay and i dont need to feel guilty
Don't listen to this video it's misinformation. Number one eating bread in general is super unhealthy and number two eating carbs is fine but eating to much of it like she is in the video is a problem and will lead to weight gain and not in the good way.
It's fine if you eat bread once or twice a week as a cheat snack, but don't eat it every day. Remember bread is a man-made food it's not natural.
Every German in germany: we eat bread for breakfast and for the last meal of the day, you don't wanna know how much bread we consume 😂😂😂😂
My recovery meal plan has me eating 10 slices of bread daily and not gaining weight 😂 Bread is healthy!!!
Just because you can eat something and not gain weight doesn’t make it healthy. I could eat McDonald’s everyday and lose weight
Not gaining weight doesn’t mean you’re healthy. Jeez! Enjoy your ignorance
@@jacobheisler2564you can eat McDonald's every day and lose weight? Really?
@@avapilsen of course, all you need is a calorie deficit which could be attained with whatever food
My body can't handle a lot of bread or I will swell
Bread is very much a comfort food for me so while i try not to live only off bread, i also dont restrict myself from eating it if its what i want to eat
My comfort food is chocolate
TY SO MUCH FOR THIS BRO EVERY ONE IS CALLING ME NAMES BECAUSE I EAT TOO MUCH CARBS AND IF I WANT A SNICKERS OR SOMETHING AND I TAKE A LITTLE BITE AND SAVE IT FOR LATER THEY STILL CALL ME DICSUSTING AND BINGY LIKE IT PNE BITE
is it true? not having enough carbs can make you moody? i need to tell my girlfriend. pray for me
God that sandwich looks so good rn
I keep watching for the “crunch” moments 😂
That bread looks bomb.
Totally agree!!! I’ve never had a bad day when eating bread 🥖
I have a stressed out day no matter what I eat. If I die early it will probably because of stress
The crunch on that sandwich. Made me want a sandwich.
I planned in a bell pepper meal instead of carbs. Lemme tell ya! It’ll be great cause I mostly just wanted some more vegetables for that day and it sounded good-
"That's very fatphobic?!" Man stop it, as a heavier person myself no one should strive or glorify the idea of being heavy. It is not healthy, makes your life a lot more miserable than it already is, promotes bad habits, and you look and feel ugly
I agree. It isn't fat phobic. I got a gastric sleeve 4 weeks ago and lost 33lbs thus far. I already have so much more energy even though I'm still recovering from the surgery. I mean, I clean without getting tired! I used to get lethargic within minutes of starting.
I'm probably the only one here enjoying how crunchy the sandwich sounds-
I feel so uncomfortable if I have bread too often, but more because it just it doesn’t agree with my digestion 😣I personally just have one heavier carb meal a day
in the netherlands its normal to eat bread twice or maybe even 3 times a day :)
every time I watch one of these I want to go have a snack lol
no wonder im never in a good mood before i had my first bread of the day 😂
I wonder if this is what sabotages my weight loss goals!! I’m starving and going to make a sandwich now!!!
Absolutely love the emoji in the title of the video.
As a moroccan, bread is a huge part of my diet...I can cut sugar, sweets, chips, fries, soda and all highly processed food easily...but bread come one, it's like telling me to stop drinking water
It also makes Your craving stronger without carbs
I eat bread three to four times a day, and have actually never thought anything of it
Bro the two types of toast for breakfast is elite. I love a toasted English muffin w peanut butter and one side w strawberries and the other w blueberries. Then vanilla Greek yogurt w granola if I’m still hungry :))
Omg this is so me today 🤣🙄
Carbs make brain release the happy chemicals 😁
But carbs also make my pancreas go AAAAAHHH
omgi need to make toast like that
