Disney World's Magic Kingdom Opens After 4 Month Shut Down! | Crowd Levels, New Procedures & More!

In today’s vlog we finally head back to Walt Disney World! We have the annual passholder preview for Magic Kingdom! We start the day off at the TTC where we take a ferry boat over to the park. We see the crowd levels, it was very quiet at the time that I was there, around 12-5pm. We also take a look at some new merchandise as we head over to see Cinderella Castle’s new paint job close up! It looks great! I really like the pink and blue, it’s so vibrant. We also see the first of many character cavalcades down Main Street! We got to see some characters from the Move It, Shake It, Mousekedance It parade, Tinkerbell, Fantasyland Friends and some friends from Winnie the Pooh! I really like how they’re handling the characters “roaming” the park and I like the frequency in which they were out and about! We saw the Main Street Philharmonic band performing around the park as well, they’re always great! The amount of entertainment still happening around the park was really awesome to see! We also rode some rides, we saw some Tron roller coaster construction progress from the Tomorrowland Speedway, we rode the tea cups and Big Thunder Mountain! It was such a good feeling to get back on rides!! We checked out where the relaxation zones were around the park, this is where you can take your mask off and relax for a bit and get out of the Florida heat. Speaking of the heat, this was about the time I started to head home, it was a hot one! We hope you enjoyed this look at Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom! I really appreciate that Tim took the time to address a lot of the policies that WDW is taking and is a lot more critical about it. I noticed that a lot of Disney vloggers are simply applauding the reopening and aren't addressing a lot of concerns that people have about social distancing and if Disney's properly sanitizing the parks. Thank you Tim.
raphaelol I agree. I noticed in live streams I was watching they aren’t doing the best wiping down high touch surfaces. Maybe we see more of it on opening day. I also think Universal is smart to force guests to use hand sanitizer before riding anything.

I too appreciate Tim's honest criticism of the lack of precautions in some areas and on some rides. Those water fountains, an enclosed relaxation area not requiring masks and the Buzz Light Year ride's lack of appropriate precautions and sanitation stand out for me in this video. Tim gets a big thumbs up from me for that.
Kudos to Tim for being cautious, critical when necessary and reasonable in his take on the re-opening's.
It's an amusement park, it's not sanitary when you are dealing with the public, ever! I know, I work in restaurants and often tell my friends, "if you ever knew what goes in in them you would never eat out or just deal with it!"

I do like how they’re handling the character situation. Obviously it’s a bummer not to get traditional pics with them but I’m glad Disney is at least increasing the numbers of characters you’re likely to see during your day at the park. I hope to see more “mini shows” like the stepsisters, so fun! And I think the character cavalcade will be great as long as the cast members are vigilant about people staying socially distant. 🤞🤞🤞

For the tables that have the social distancing stickers, they should’ve stacked chairs on the table or removed it them completely, cause many people will disregard just stickers

A few notes on some comments - 1) Water fountain buttons and buzz light year ride guns will be high touch surfaces. However disease is passed through eyes, nose, mouth so if you wash your hands thoroughly afterwards I don’t believe it to be high risk 2) Indoor relaxation station is no different than indoor dining in terms of risk as both allow removing masks while remaining socially distant so it’s not unreasonable. 3) With all that said, it is unprecedented times and a theme park is high risk no matter how you spin it. Only way to stay safe is to not go. Hence the acknowledgment of risk when you buy tickets. Disney clearly made an effort but they can only do so much to safeguard.
I think as a guest it's also your job to make sure you are taking safety measures like sanitizing your own hands before and after a ride.
I agree....Instead of blaming other people for what's happened to you, you can take care of yourself.

Don’t quote me on that, but I’m pretty sure when the park had just opened characters would just go about being ‘themselves’ and interacting with guests as if they were just casually strolling around their kingdom, so this feels a lot like that! Hahaah Apparently Disneyland Cali. is more like that still
Demetria Devonne I grew up going to Disneyland in California and it was always like that. We were just there in February and they still had some experiences like the Calvocades and my daughter-who works at WDW-was saying you would never see that at WDW. Little did we know...I love it though. I think it’s much more magical than waiting in lines to meet one character in a room.
Well Disneyland basically always had characters walking around. So that’s a perk of going to Disneyland rather than Disney World

I am loving the Calvocades and the little character experiences. I grew up going to Disneyland and that is how I remember it being. It seems more magical to me to see the Characters out in this way than to have to wait in line to meet them one by one in some room. I hope your ankle is doing ok!

Every time I've been there the crowds were enormous and I always wished I could be there on a day like this...but...now that I see what it's like without crowds it actually just weirds me out, it seems wrong! :O
But it feels oh so right. It's amazing.
I went in September one of the weeks after the hurricane was thought to hit Orlando. MK was so dead I kept running into the same families in different lines!
@@accountforwastingtime Hurricanes are absolutely the best time to visit Disney if you're a local and have to be there anyway. Crowds are low as tourists flee, and if you happen to get stuck at Disney when the storm hits, they'll probably take better care of you than you could ever take care of yourself at home. My preview was a similar crowd level to hurricane crowds.
@@madderandmadder I agree I would feel safer at a Disney resort than at a house in Florida. I didn't think I'd ever be able to go and was able to go literally last minute, I planned 2 days before! In 4 hours got to ride everything I really wanted to(a few things 2-3 times), eat what I wanted with no lines, walked the park, then boated to Fort Wilderness after to eat & hang out before catching my flight. Would never dream of that normally!
@@accountforwastingtime My family went in 2017 right before Hurricane Irma and stayed the week after the crowds were fantastic until the end of that week it was great but the heat and humidity was so miserable after felt very safe at the resort during the hurricane

Man I hate to say it but the speedway is looking like a traveling carnival attraction at this point. I hope they give it some SERIOUS love or scrap it for something new
My prayers are that when Tron comes they make the cars electric (to rid of the smell) and repaint them so that the track matches the surrounding Tron aesthetic. Could look super cool especially at night!

With a properly fitted and filtering mask, you can't smell the exhaust.... However, I'm so over gas powered anything! I personally only have electric powered machines now, including my car.
I think it’s a shame that Disney won’t pay for covid tests for cast members, especially considering that employees in character are apparently not allowed to wear masks.

Good morning to you. I think it’s worse than a shame that cast members aren’t getting COVID-19 tests. It’s a disgrace in my opinion. It’s always people on the front line who are left to take the hit while others behind the scenes in their air conditioned offices are protected.

Water fountains, pressed penny machines; some of that stuff is just gonna come down to personal responsibility. If you wanna make a penny, santiize, crank and sanitize again. Taking that 32 oz bottle of sanitizer and can of Clorox wipes is now a park bag must.

Ok so just a couple of notes here:
I was at MK for the first annual pass holder day at 9 am. While parking was a mess the actual park was empty like Tim saw during his trip. I walked into every ride- we did them all and shopped all within two hours. We walked out of the park at 11am having done everything. It was awesome.
Second thing: I talked to several cast members who said the crowd we saw was the crowd we can expect moving forward. They allowed max capacity for pass holder days because they wanted a true test and wanted to give as many pass holders a chance to come back as possible.
I’m hopeful they were correct. If so Disney is going to be the bees knees for a while.
Was wondering wat the max capacity was they(Disney )said the 2 days preview was sold out in 45 mins & I haven’t even received the email yet.
We went to the Passholder preview today (on Friday) and it was a very interesting experience. Went from 10 am to 4 pm (because at that point the heat was just too much), got to ride 9 rides including Seven Dwarfs and Splash Mountain, and eat at Liberty Tree. But a lot of the outdoor foods stands and shops aren’t open (it feels like they Want you go indoors to eat to prevent people from walking around without masks on while doing so) and we had issues with the other party in our monorail car not wanting to put their masks on (I would advise people to just stick with the ferry). While as Passholders the overall experience was very enjoyable with everyone we saw in the actual park following the guidelines, I would still advise anyone against doing a major WDW trip right now from out of state. Between the Florida heat and changes to policies/ attractions, you’d be better off saving your money till next year when things hopefully start to transition back to how they were at the start of the year.
Star .Gears I hope they sell more food outside. Eating inside with a lot of people with no mask on is the dumbest thing they could make people do. The virus lingers in the air inside. No wonder the infections go up... Sorry for my venting I am slightly upset about this issue.

Thank you for this. I’ve been wondering about outdoor food stands. I hadn’t thought about that maybe they want you to eat inside so people aren’t walking around the park eating with their masks off. It’s risky either way.
Glad u got to go to the preview! Disney told us that we must of been the one of the last bundles of emails to go out & it sold out b4 our bundle could go out. Which wasn’t fair to the rest of passholders
Thanks for showing the paint-by-numbers brickwork, Tim! Kept saying the castle would only look good/be complete if they paint the bricks as they did with Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland. NOW I'm excited about the overall paint job haha Cheers!

I was thinking the same thing. I believe the Florida sumers are harsh but a new sticker would have made a huge difference.
IMHO - they have had their time, can we rethink that area for a new ride or a whole new refurb?

Uh, me. It's extremely irresponsible to go to one of the world's largest theme parks during the height of a pandemic. Look at a graph of Florida's case numbers, it's never been higher. They should all be under a stay at home order, but NO, LET'S PRETEND EVERYTHING IS FINE
@@amandajensen3382 They are taking all safety precautions, which is more than you can say for many other businesses in Florida. Whether Tim makes a video about it or not, the parks ARE open and people WILL go. Personally, I think it's better that people know what to expect and understand all of the rules in practice instead of just reading about them.

I work at Thunder, so it looks like i missed you riding yesterday. Yesterday i got off at around 1:15. We're not suppose to do row requests because it's hard to put people off to the side, even when running on on side. They reminded us that this morning and i specifically asked about having them go off to the side one side because i know it's impossible to do on 2 sides

@@laurenc4138 there are many times when my happy place is the Haunted Mansion...and literally I close my eyes and I am just in the doom buggy alone listening to the music and feeling how cold it is in there lol truth! I do this with the People Mover too :p

So I understand your caution. People have different tolerances. But on a ride like Buzz where you have to touch things.....even before COVID, we just had fun, then cleaned our hands when we got off. I always have anti-bacterial wipes and hand sanitizer on me. COVID or not.

So, while I think the paint job on the castle is nice and well done and all, but I don’t think that the pink really says Cinderella Castle to me. Like, the Cinderella Castle in the movie is blue and white, so I feel like while this new paint job is pretty, it’s not Cinderella Castle and it makes it look like all the other castles in my eyes color wise. Maybe that’s just me.
yup id say keep the gold and return to white and blue not purple.
I think it'll fade beautifully, though. I'm excited to see how it looks in 6 months.

Exactly! I thought the same thing. Especially when Tim was in the Hub when that announcement for Covid precautions came up. It made me cringe and it also made me so sad to hear that.

It keeps getting mentioned about non touch surfaces....a surface is only as clean as the last person that touched it....every two hours or every 2 minutes doesn’t matter. Wash your hands or use sanitizer..simple.
Yes, but frequent cleaning would help prevent spread. Let's say someone with COVID goes on the ride at 10am and contaminates a surface. The employees don't clean until 12pm. That means that everyone within that 2 hour span, that has also touched the surface, is now at risk for infection. Let's say they cleaned more frequently, every half an hour, at 10:30. Well now that window of potential infection, and thus the number of people potentially at risk, has been greatly reduced.
But yes you're right! You should always wash your hands or use sanitizer!

I like the pop up characters , parades & the band. It keeps people from blocking the sidewalks waiting for them. Everything still looks magical . The Castle looks beautiful . You always do a great job narrating your videos.

I think the cleaning every 2 hours is fine, just ensure you are cleaning your hands after riding. And don't touch your face.
Hotels do NOT clean once every hour. Not sure how that would be possible...

The Castle looks stunning with its new paint job. No crowds, low wait times-works for me.
The speedway cars are a hot mess. Stickers peeling off, steering wheel damaged.. Disney needs to do something about that.
If anyone has never been to Disney and is planning on going this year I’d definitely suggest waiting. Don’t waste your money on a lower level experience
Edit: But if you are going make the best out of it and maybe upgrade on your resort to boost your experience up!

People already get a so called lower level experience. And I’m from Cali. You think everyone does parades,shows,rides and dinning but no. People go to the parks maybe just for rides or maybe just for shoes. However it isn’t lower level. Because people who paid full amount without this situation still only get on 3 rides and maybe on parade. It’s all good

While it lowers your chances of getting it, it really doesn't mean jack if you go out in a Crowded area walking near many other people and catching the virus on your clothes. Masks don't mean full on protection, just some, as you still have to social distance. Also, read the news instead of spreading false information.

I know a few people have been commenting that they see less cleaning occurring at Disney than at Universal. I have a feeling they are also doing more cleaning that guests aren’t seeing. Disney does tend to try and keep a bit of a magic alive, by cleaning when no one sees. Also, 2 hours is a bit long, but it really does depend on the chemicals used, because hold times vary. I imagine they identified the high touch points and clean those more frequently. We’ll see, I guess. At the end of the day, mask use is key. And hand sanitizing for 20 seconds is important. If your hands are dry before 20 seconds, you didn’t use enough.

It’s been a while since I’ve heard Tim say “here we goooooooo!” at Big Thunder. Awesome!
I just saw a picture today about how pin trading works. It is all done on pin boards and you have to place the pin you are trading into a box and then tell the Cast Member which pin you want. They get it off the board for you and then sanitize the pin you traded before placing it on the board. I’m a self-proclaimed “pin nerd” so I’m so happy about this!
OMG it’s my ultimate dream to see such minimal crowds at magic kingdom!! No manic shoulder to shoulder crowds lol this is the perfect time to go!
