Well maybe my friends and me are too niche, but we played FPS Quake I TF and pre CS Beta (= half life ), but even than gameplay, was really fast. I remember learning/perfecting (strafe / rocket/ ... jumps) with video shared on lanparty or irc-channels. But we played mainly online in clan's, and it got really fast when we could ditch dailup, and had pings < 30. 🤣
