Fairfax: closer to dc (if that matters), more established and suburban (besides Reston) older homes on smaller lots. More traffic.
Loudoun: newer homes, mix of suburban and rural, more natural areas west of rt 15, farther from dc. Less traffic within Loudoun.

Question, why do homes in Virginia or surrounding states have no privacy fencing to demarcate the land/backyard like in California? It’s all just open backyard…

They do, but it depends on the neighborhood I think he used generic video shots. If you go back those houses without fences tend to be newer homes. You add if they don't have, or the prior owner didn't want to pay extra. Most neighbors in NOVA are friendly and not having a privacy fence keeps that neighborly feeling. The older homes have wooden fence or chain link fences.

Do you think they’ll build more townhomes over the next couple years across Loudoun? If so, in what areas? We’re looking to buy new construction in 2026. We’ve been fixing up our current place over the last five years but now aggressively saving for 20% down + equity from our current place.

Check Leesburg or Ashburn they are building a lot of townhouses.

What is the 2nd best county in the state, Arlington or some county (Heinrich?) near Hampton Roads or Richmond?
Loudoun’s homes are much newer. In 1990 only 86k people lived in the LC and in 2000 onlu 169k. All the other 430k people in LoCo live in newer stock.

If you love woke progressive government, than definitely look into Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William. You'll love it there especially their progressive prosecutors...
