A Gorgeous, well-preserved `60 Chrysler alright!! My grandfather had a silver-green NY 4dr. hardtop with a white rook, and the toilet seat on the rear deck!! Power everything too! It was a beauty!
In the mid-60s one of my girl friends had this same New Yorker but it did have A/C. He would toss me the keys so his daughter and I could head to the local drive-in for a burger and fry etc. My father had a very similar Chrysler product at that time too and it was a DeSoto. It was loaded as well but didn't have the "Dome" instrument cluster which I loved. That DeSoto replaced our 58 Edsel and the DeSoto was replaced by a 1965 Pontiac Grand Prix and my fondest cars have always been from that era. Thanks for sharing this beautiful "Land Yacht," they truly don't make them like these incredible works of automotive art any more.
Beautiful car and a gorgeous backdrop. Probably a little after dawn with that little traffic, hm? Unfortunate that the long, flowing lines are interrupted by that antenna in the middle of a fin.
Thank you for watching ! Sharp eye, yes we tend to shoot early Sunday mornings to avoid traffic, people yelling or honking, and security guards. It seems that antenna was a factory option, maybe as an after thought ? Cheers !
We just bought a 1960 NewYorker two door out of Princeton WV....It was a California car... Mint green with tan interior and a white roof...Loaded up with AC Power windows and antenna etc... We also have a 61 NewYorker two door under restoration.... Love your vids!
My first time here, I think. Loved the videography and cheek. Sometimes the music got too much for me so I just turned down the volume and it was fine. Thanks for putting so much into show casing this '60 classic. Palm Springs never looked lovelier.
Thank you for watching and commenting ! This particular episode was our very first one, and we were very new to the RUclips process, please check out some of our later productions ( 1965 Buick Riviera is the latest ) and hopefully they sound and mixing are better !
This video made my weekend, as it represents two things very near and dear to my heart, our beloved Palm Springs and my ultimate dream car. I actually had one of these beauties when I was 18. Nowhere near the condition of this one, actually a basket case that languished in a farmer’s field for many years before I bought it for $1000. I had wild dreams of restoring it with my $4/hr shoe store paycheques, but before long reality set in and sadly, I had to let her go. If I could ever be in a position to own a classic car, this would be the one so that I could make my lifelong dream come true, and in PS to make it even more perfect. Thank you so much for creating and sharing this video. A beautiful car in a beautiful setting. Can’t ask for more than that! Subscribed and looking forward to more videos!
Thank you so much John , our goal is achieved with your comment, that is the whole purpose of this channel ! Yes I think all of us petrol heads have owned dream cars that we now wish we had kept. Thanks for subscribing that helps us out so much !
Hey there..Really good video on the Chrysler. I also enjoyed the architecture tour as well.. More videos please. Personally I would like to see American cars in the upper levels such as this one. Cadillacs, Buicks, Imperials, Lincoln..Bring em on!
Thank you so much for watching Andy and so glad you enjoyed the concept ! We are busy bees editing episode 002 which features a 1965 Sunbeam Tiger, it is due to go live in a week or so. After that for episode 003 is an awesome 1966 Pontiac GTO, then we definitely have a wonderful Buick Riviera, Cadillac, studebaker, Avanti and many other American beauties in the cue to shoot. It seems we are on track to release about 1 episode a month right now, but as we get streamlined hopefully twice a month ..... Please Subscribe and hit the bell if you want notifications when we post new videos !
What a superb video....clearly the best of this type I have seen....a stunning American car, and an architectural tour of Palm Springs......not even the Europeans consistently designed, and made their cars to be true Automotive works of Art like the Americans did.....some background music from , say, Frankie Avalon, B0bby Rydell or the Beach Boys would have been good also. Many thanks from Australia Les Griffiths
Thank you for watching and the kind words ! You get the point of the show perfectly ! We would love to use better music but RUclips is very picky about copyrights and licensing
Thanks for understanding our very limited pickings for music that passes copyright rules ! Interesting production note the Walkaround and Open Road songs are full song-alike reproductions we had to methodically reproduce to replace some 60s library music we had originally used, it took 2 months to do, lesson learned !
I had the same car. It looks white but the title said Lavender. under the right light u could see the light lavender. Power 4 ways seats, power antenna, and power windows. I was living in high cotton.
I love this car!! Thank you for making such a great quality video! Do you know Charles Phoenix (joy ride) sometimes his videos are in Palm Springs but he just sold a 57 imperial I don’t know if you had a chance to see it it was so beautiful and original keep up the excellent work I subscribed twice on both my accounts
Thank you for Subscribing ! We have seen Charles videos they are great, he seems to focus in mid century era styles , think he is based in LA Silverlake but does PS stuff
@@thecarsofpalmsprings yes Charles is definitely mid century modern! But he’s an old car enthusiast! he grew up on a used car lot. He has a beautiful 1958 De Soto Fireflight sportsmen 30,000 org miles.
What were (if any) the engine options for this car? And his mistake in parking was not to use a LOT more angle going in. Turn the wheel ALL the way, son.
Yeah it is a bit strange driving around with no seat belts but then again it is made of pure steel and weighs more than most SUVs , thank you for watching and commenting !
Hmm works for me on 3 different Macs and my iPhone, Maybe try adjusting the Settings to a different resolution under the little Gear icon ? Do other videos play and also the advertisements ? Strange
In Palm Springs the summer can reach 120 F in the afternoon, so the key is to drive early in the morning with these non AC cars. But that makes the hot season episodes much more difficult to shoot. During the other 9 months however it is all ideal blue skies and 70-ish weather making it a perfect "The Cars of Palm Springs" area for enjoying these beautiful cars !
@@thecarsofpalmsprings Around 2006, I lived in Palm Springs. It was summer. The dry heat killed my old Buick. I helped open the Purple Palm restaurant. It was an interesting time in my life.
Glad you mentioned that and hopefully can appreciate the amount of work and energy that goes in to these episodes ! This weekend it hit the usual 120 F or 49C , that is why we shoot these at sunrise - 5 to 6 AM and wrap it up by 8AM ! This morning - 7/16/23 at 8 AM it was 95 F or 35 C , by noon it was 114 F or 46 C it is very tough to shoot these old classic cars in the summer !
Beautiful automobile! Timeless classic. Thank you for sharing it.
Thank you for watching it was a pleasure to do an episode on that car !

Sounds amazing, that silver green must have been stunning ! Thanks for watching and we have plenty of great cars lined up in the future.
Love the car and the architecture plus I think the period instrumental music is perfect. I'll definitely subscribe.
Thank you for watching and subscribing ! Up next is a 56 Porsche speedster

Nice elegant car that can really fly down the highway when you want to. Enjoyed the humor on this video as well....GG

What a fun channel! Thanks for putting this together. A friend just guided me to it, and I intend to watch every single episode.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting we appreciate it ! Up next is a 1965 Buick Riviera .....

I loved my Dad's New Yorker
All the kids thought I was rich when he dropped me off places..lol
This one is a beautiful car.
😳 wow it's like brand new!
Just fabulous!!!
A true gem !
1960 was one of the best years for Chrysler styling during the Virgil Exner era. The New Yorker was exceeded only by the 300F which was stunning
Both amazing cars that turn heads ! Thanks for watching and commenting !
Such a Beautiful Car, WOW!
It was a real pleasure to shoot , no bad shots possible , thanks for watching !

This was fine though, to me.
Absolutely stunning!
Thanks for watching and commenting be sure to subscribe there a lot more stunners lined up !
Thank you for sharing this! The car looks fantastic and the scenery is stunning. All the best from Germany 😉
The low MPG classics are perfect for us retired guys because we don't drive as much as we used to.
True but this car really cruised easily on the freeways, you could go R 66 all the way across the country and it would be very comfortable
Great fun! Fantastic job on this...informative and we'll presented. Kudos!
They knew how to make cars in the '50s and '60s. Better architecture, and you can do your own maintenance!
Yeah you can sit down in the engine bay and enjoy working , the car is built like a tank, talk about heavy steel ! Thanks for watching !

Engine Golden Lion. First year unibody. Turn wheels tight to back in. Nice car
Thanks for watching and commenting John !
Very Nice! I have the twin to this car except mine has the red vinyl interior. Just turned 70k miles and its 61st birthday is tomorrow, January 8.
Sweet ! Need picts or video !
Very well done Denny!!
The car just looks like it was dropped in from outerspace.
Well It is from the Space Age era !

Almost sure it was just the one engine option, with no options like super charger
Seems like the perfect grocery getter for Palm Springs.
Considering you could fit half the grocery store in the trunk
Good thing those cars are grandfathered into the way the laws used to be

No a.c. in that push button car in PALM SPRINGS? Whaddaya, nuts?
Guess the owner only drives it in the winter haha! Summers are brutal but fall , spring , winter it is fantastic weather
Next time, bring us a 4-door!
If there is one in Palm Springs we will ! 😀 Thanks for watching and commenting !
Sweet
Indeed ! Thanks fro watching and commenting !
Would need air put on it to stay out their in Palm Springs but beautiful car
My neighbor has a car just like that!
Any reason why my screen is black with only audio?

What?! No Flight Swept Deck Lid?
Thanks for watching and commenting ! Hmm can't decide if that looks better or not.... I wonder does the spare tire actually go up in that ?
