I've had this figure for pretty much my entire life. I still have it, and it's still in pretty great shape (and still stands). A couple notes. You did the best you could, choosing Fisto's pelvis, but the mail-in original's trunks were molded in a lighter, slightly more yellowy brown, that no other figure ever used. Also (and this is a big reason I believe these figures were an initial test run) there's a tiny gap between the belt and the molded fur of the trunks. No retail MOTU figure has this gap in the sculpt. The hair is a darker brown than the trunks, and I think you did a great job there, though the original is perhaps a touch less warm. The black boots and belt should be high gloss. Overall, a very nice custom recreation of a figure that I didn't even realize was super rare until a couple years ago.

Thanks for sharing your videos with us Dave! I've probably said it before, but it is really relaxing and kind of soothing to watch these toys get a new life in your hands! I've attempted a restoration on a vintage Michelangelo from TMNT. Still not done!lol thanks again for sharing!

Aren't they though. I love watching these videos I go back and re watch them from time to time and it's just brilliant. I think it's the combination of seeing inside the toys and also knowing that very often you can fix them it's quite a good feeling. I also really like watching videos of people making models specifically Star Trek but I find them annoying quite often that they skip a lot of steps and are merely just reviews

What if the Wun-Dar figures are actually from Earth-2 where it's version of Mattel made He-Man as a straight up Conan clone when they're able to win out the case the owners of Conan brought against them and those figures somehow got transported to our Earth?
Which is why the Mattel of our world has never publicly acknowledge the existence of Wonderbread He-Man because they didn't make the figures nor know where they actually came from. You heard it from me first.

Hey thanks for the awesome videos! I recently tried to touch up a buzz-off and an Orko. The orko needs to have a mix of matte and gloss, which I learned from your video, so thanks! (I was using just matte, and it lost it’s shine). I’m getting brush strokes or streaks when I apply the yellow to buzz-off’s chest. Any idea why, or how I can stop that from happening? Also wondering if you ever apply a finish coat to these? If you applied a finish coat to a matte paint, would that achieve the same thing?

I had the idea of making my own he man savage, before seeing your video, I have everything I need now. According to my research at the time, it was marked Taiwan 1981. I found it one for sale in France entirely original the head is marked Taiwan 1981. except the bust is marked malasia is not original because it was broken and replaced by a Malaysia. it is supplied with the weapon pack zodac. around 800 euros. difficult to say if it is really original even if it is a store selling on paris rather safe, but nothing proves that it is original.
there tends to be exorbitant prices in their store because it is filled with motu treasure ... but that does not prove anything for this wu dar at 799 euros.
because apparently it was sold or offered as a promotional offer at the time in a plastic bag and without a blister card.
edited in 1983 so the original bust also had to be marked Taiwan.
there was no weapon pack provided at the time with or at least not that of the zodac weapon pack, and I do not know why the zodac weapon pack came to be grafted onto it. this figure remains a myth and rather mysterious somewhere.

Great job, Dave! It looks fantastic!
To me it looks like your paint job is better than the original, factory made.
Now, I understand your restorations are made to be easy solutions for everybody, but still, you could do a silicone mold, if you so desire, to cast and restore those bits that end up breaking easily, like He Man and GI Joe's fingers. In such case the mold should be big enough to fit the whole arm, and you would put the broken part in there so that the resin finger would be cast perfectly and have always the correct shape. You could even fit a bit of wire like you usually do to make that bit stronger.

not so sure about using those stands though, rubber bands can react with paint and actually (believe it or not) turn it wet again, (possibly because the paint is suffocated of air?) it happened to me when i made a display case for my vintage star wars figures and put rubber bands around there waists to hold them in, years later when i removed them the paint under the bands had become wet & sticky and some of my figures were ruined.

I do agree. I'm not a fan of leaving rubber bands on things like this. But these bands look like they are silicon, so should be ok. but worth keeping and eye on them.

Maybe just move the bands every now and then, it is a similar thing to what happens with those pips on Action Man rifles for the straps to clip onto or the GI Joe muscle body figures feet when shoes have been left on and the feet have melted into the shape of the inside of the shoe.

They kind of look like rubber bands for braces, my daughters just had their's removed. I am quite sure that they are made from different materials than rubber bands...so perhaps safe for paint?

I’m surprised you didn’t see the UK knock off of Conan in your country. When you were younger there’s no loaves of bread. That have anything to do with this toy that you’re making a custom of

Cool. Now I need a beat up he-man to create my favourite Cimmerian. Is it easy to pull the torso apart from the pelvis? My hands not as steady as yours, and would be easier to paint.

No it definitely exists, i saw 1 sell on ebay a few weeks ago for £320 and ive seen AFA graded "wonder bread" he-man figures and obviously there rules are very strict & wouldn't grade them if there were custom figures.

Not really, the real wonderbread heman has a little hole below the belt, plus you won't find a real WB Heman in perfect shape, the paint should be damage at some degree, scratches and stuff, remember that WB heman was from 1981
