Mariah Carey is definitely a Soprano. Her tessitura is really high ... And her vocal nodules only help her with the Whistle Register. Nothing else lol. Her vocal weight and color is really bright and girly. Mariah can go low. But that doesn't mean she's an Alto... And Betty is probably a Lyric-Mezzo. She doesn't have the weight of a true Contralto. But if she sang in a choir… Then yes. She’d be singing alto parts.

She and Mariah cannot be compared bc for 1: they are in two different eras and for 2: they have completely different styles of music. Betty overall have a higher range and clarity (even at her age in this video) Mariah is much younger so that speaks for itself. Both are very inspirational women that I love and respect equally.
