I'm Old, Pretentious, and rarely ready for anything and I have and love this watch! Dress Watch? I wear mine with everything and it looks great. Wore it today with a flannel.
3 years later and this is still one of my favorites. It was my first luxury purchase and it was because of you. I own more expensive pieces, but this exact Nomos means more to me than all of them. I wish you continued with your channel, but I’m grateful for the vids you’ve made, especially this one. 😎👍🏼
Hi UltraDoug. Thank you for your kind words. I’ve been busy and have not maintained my channel. But I keep collecting watches, so I might just start publishing more content - just a bit here and there. Your words may just be the push I needed :-) And the Nomos: I forgot to use it for a while, but then I fell in love with it again last year. There’s just something stylish about it. Anyway, thanks UltraDoug!
Just pulled the trigger on the nomos Club Amsterdam edition, couldn’t keep away from the red numerals and the California dial the clear caseback, I hope I like it, can’t wait
Thank you SO much for this review. I’ve been ready to pull the trigger on this for 2 weeks. Absolute torture! But now, you e really helped me make my decision. Excellent video. 👍🏼
Hi Scorpio. Thank you. I must admit I don’t use the watch enough. Less dress occasions. But when I do, I appreciate the fresh look, the coloured second hand and the california dial every time.
Great review. It has to be said that you mentioning that this doesn't have an anti-reflective coating has got me interested. I'm more about pretty reflections as opposed to being able to read the time properly - hahaha. I'm always late anyway so the time is wasted on me.
Thank you for this review! I wish I had seen this before I bought it, living in very sunny Miami, the lack of ar coating blinds me when the dial catches the sun
Hello, great review... mine is on the way,may i aak how many time do we have to wind it up for the first time or when its not running for a while, its my first handwound...thanks
Hi there. I personally wind it 21 times. I don’t think you can over-wind it so you don’t need to worry. But after roughly 24 winds I can feel more resistance in the winding, and then I stop. The problem is not winding. We are so used to automatic rotors that wind the watch for us. So if I use a regular watch for several days, I don’t wind it in the second morning etc. But that doesn’t work with Nomos. The first few times I just put on Nomos in the morning, but then during the day there was no more power left and it stopped. So I learned to wind it every morning. But that’s actually a quite good routine where you connect with the watch. Congrats on your new watch!!
Welcome to the club. If you are genuinely interested in watches, then you are often in doubt: This watch or that watch? Movement, price, design, versatility, and how to weight these things. Only you can do that, by your own standards. Good luck
ive got swcusa bunker which is similart style dial but has loads of ar coating, have to see this watch in person to understand the problem... btw when you say almost 7inch, does that mean 6.9?
Very well review and good points mentioned there. The Club Campus is my favorite watch from nomos because of the movement, it’s design of the case and of course because of the California dial. It’s my dresswatch in my collection. Look forward to more videos.👍🏻
Mister B . Thanks for the positive words. I will try to do a few more videos. I have seen your watch reviews and I really like them. A breath of fresh air! Thanks
I have this exact watch...I absolutely love it. While it is marketed as a gift watch, I bought it for myself, albeit with the steel case back. I purchased it from an authorized dealer and had to have it. Solid review.
Yes, I've had it for just about a year with no problems, and it still looks brand new with daily wear. I particularly love its legibility at angles none of my other watches can match. Its very unique, and while I have a few vintage pieces from Hamilton and Omega, and several Seiko automatics, I wanted a watch none of my friends would have..very unique and entirely enjoyable.
Hi. Glad to hear it. There were actually a few months where I didn’t use the watch that much, but now it is a regular again, and I’m having fun switching to other straps. It is simply so comfortable to wear! Enjoy it!
Nice detailed Review! I agree with your observations! I recently bought the same watch, and don’t know why I am so late to the party! I see that the Club has been already been around for over ten years. I never noticed until the Campus version, which is pretty similar to the original. A long time ago I saw the Tangente, but didn’t really care for it. But I’d say the Club is a great well made everyday causal watch that can be worn for just about everything. I can see where it could be considered a modern dress watch for people that might not normally wear a traditional one. While I wouldn’t say it’s really a sports watch, on a nylon strap it could also be used as such. Seems to live up to its marketing hype. To me the design is somewhere between a Lange Saxonia and a Rolex Oyster Perpetual 39. Actually It’s closer to the Rolex Cellini of the early 2000s. But it’s very unique in its own and it’s hard to find any decent hand winders anywhere near this price. I do like the automatics too but they add quite a premium. So I’m happy to wear the hand wound at a big savings!
Hello Mister Freeze :-) Thanks for your thoughts. I haven’t thought about it, but you are actually right that this is a cross between a Lange and an Oyster perpetual. I don’t wear dress watches very often, but I do like the sportiness and the fresh breath of air from this one. All the best to you!
Hi and thanks. There was actually a few months where I didn’t use the watch that much, but now it is a regular again, and I’m having fun switching to other straps. Glad you liked the video!
Wonderful review. Watched it several times, since I'm on the verge of buying the Club Campus 39 in Midnight Blue. I wished the 38 Night had automatic winding, since I like those colors more than the midnight blue.
Hi. I checked out the midnight blue. I was totally surprised by the hands. They are rose gold hands.Wow. That works so well with the blue dial. I’m jealous. Good choice! Wear it in good health!
Hi fouroverseven. I see your point. But I was also thinking “Maybe I should have gotten the white dial”. I like a good, white dial. So we are never totally certain when we make a choice. Always pros and cons. Maybe you and I should switch watches once a year, so we get the experience of both a dark and white dial :-)
@@WristMech I just spoke with someone at Nomos. They were very accommodating. I'm going to exchange my watch for the night version, but I think I'm going to go with the beige suede strap... or maybe the brown leather strap. Can't decide.
Congrats. I’m sure you’ll like it. The strap is a difficult choice - but then again, there is always aftermarket straps that you can change between to alter the look as you please. The main thing is that you like the watch. enjoy!
Vulcain used to be as well known as Rolex or Universal Genevel. They had what is known as the "Presidents watch". They gifted a watch to President Truman and then most of the presidents since then have carried a Vulcain on their wrist at some time. A solid Swiss brand situated in Le Locle with in-house movements of the highest degree. Pretty expensive watches even today.
Thanks. Saw it being listed on ebay, and instantly grabbed it. With the price I thought there was a risk that it was fake, but I took a chance on it. I got it serviced and it was clear it was genuine and NOS. An amazing pick up with a 70’ies vibe. Thanks for noticing.
Hi. I think it was the S (small). I think I mention it. A fellow youtube warned that it was essential to choose the Small, because the other ones (that he got) was too long. So I' just passing this info on. Enjoy it.
@@WristMech Hi, I have a 6.3inch wrist, do you believe the long lugs would overhand too much? I really like the watch but I am unsure about the size of the lugs
Luciole Dizerot I have a 7 inch wrist, so I can’t really know for sure with a 6.3 inch wrist. But my guess is that it is quite ok. Perhaps you can check reviews from google to check it.
You wear your watch in the wrong location. It should be worn above your wrist bone, not on the hand side. The crown will stick into the back of your hand when you wear your watch incorrectly like that.
I'd also call this a sport watch instead of a dress watch. At least a casual watch. Most of Nomos' line is more dress, but the Club line is much more sport. Sure, not a diver, but more sport than dress. As much as a tool watch as an Explorer. Appreciated the review, as I'm considering this model.

This is the review that pushed me over the edge, thanks for this great video
Oh my, Martijn. If I pushed you, then I hope the drop wasn’t too far or too hard a landing! Sorry :-)
Very well done. The explanation and rationale for what you look for in the watch is refreshing and insightful.
Thank you, Jaqen. Very much appreciate that, and thank you for commenting. Makes my day :-)
Wonderful review. I agree with you 100% about curved end straps. I wish they were more common.
wow, thanks for this down-to earth review, very detailed and calm... I liked it and the nomos is really great, I want to buy it as quick as I can...
Thanks, John. Much obliged

Great review and rationale
You just squeezed my finger on the trigger
Thanks so much 👍
Great. Hope you’ll like it. I myself are also tempted by the relatively new 39mm club with sunray dial. This looks great too.
Excellent review. Now I am thinking seriously about buying one.

Excellent review, and strangely very relaxing!
Appreciate the strap length recommendation! I could decide to order small or medium with my 7” wrist. Now I know small.

Michael Martin you get a watch which offers a lot there, a nice decorated Inhouse movement in a not too common design from a german Manufacturer.

name of the watch is club campus 38, but the specs on nomos website say case diameter, 38.5 mm
Great review. Exactly what I needed to know.

I own a Tangente model and it is AR coated, I guess their club model being their cheapest watch loses the AR coating as a cost savings.

What song is this
49mm L2L is way too long
lugs are too long and disproportionate to the case size
