- No words is sufficient to describe how genius and ahead of his/our time Allan is/was. He's basically flexing (was flexing) his superior chords to us. ✌🏻

One of the most amazing musicians that took the guitar to whole another level.
And music. The guitar is just a tool
He transcended the guitar. He transcended everything that was ever previously conceived in regards to music itself, without even seeming to truly realize the extent to which he was doing so.
@lex.cordis he knew but at the same time he was extremely humble about it in interviews
@@bryanmack7463 Maybe you're right. Perhaps he knew what he was doing was special, but rather than feeling arrogant about it, he simply wished he could share it with more people. He always seemed very disappointed that he couldn't get more people to hear his music or for more radio stations to play it, etc.
@@lex.cordisas a Genius he was well aware
That clean guitar tone sounds just like glass, beautiful
Dude was like a human synthesizer, sounded virtually identical to a saxophone when he was soloing and sounds like a DX7 when he’s playing chords
From memory he wanted to be a saxophonist, and as you note it shows in his playing.
I dont want to hear the word genius if someone doesn't use it to describe him first...this guy changed guitar forever
This man changed my life. A true musical genius and one of the most beautiful minds to ever live.
The greatest musical guitar genius of all time
He makes it look so easy and effortless! 😮
Allan has the most beautiful guitar voicings of all times
So similar to Eric Johnson. Both great tones 👍
I am an Allan fan. The guy was fantastic🎸👍
People throw it around too loosely these days but this guy was one of a kind on the guitar. He was made to do it.
This guy has always been so far from the radar. He's so good that he doesn't register on the radar is what I'm trying to say!
stealth mode
Sounds like the startup music for an alien spaceship computer
The guitar wizard.
Musical wizard
Very reminiscent of the kind of ambient triads you'd see and hear with Eric johnson.
It's the other way around.
That shit hard 🤘🤘🎸👁️✨✨✨✨✨
I got carpal tunnel from watching this
Cómo podes tener tanta imaginación?
Holdsworth is the greatest guitarist of all those who's music I don't want to listen to.
I think it’s a guitarist thing. I like to surround my ears with the unfathomable, and make it fathomable !
@@chris-chentrice2019 I get it to some extent because I am a guitarist... His technique was so clean, and great use of different timbre - just he seems indifferent to using tension and resolving it. Everything 'outside' and if he comes back to a home chord it's passed at 100mph. Maybe one day I'll just 'get it'! I certainly can understand for those who do, that this might be all they want to listen to.
@@har234908234 Have you tried some of his more "tuneful" pieces? I recommend The Sphere of Innocence, House of Mirrors and Home. I feel like he's at his compositional best in these tracks, manipulating tension and release with a songwriter's mindset, almost. On the other hand, he developed a very personal language that you kind of have to accept on its own terms, which can differ a lot from conventional resources. Even as a fan, I have to admit his writing was not always at that level, sometimes sounding like a simple vehicle for linear improv, but he does have a good amount of gems.

Honestly, this comment makes it sound like you've never listened to Allan Holdsworth before. Allan always hit the money note and resolves to the most gorgeous chord you could imagine. This tune being a great example (the album version of Looking Glass). "Sphere of Innocence" is another great example. I could go on and on and on really. There's too many to name.
🐐
lol it isnt even that msny notes but the way he orchestrates it makes it sound so full nonetheless
Simplesmente fenomenal! 🎸 \●/
Allan fue un genio poco valorado ,yo diría como nicola tesla de la música ❤
Este hombre me da escalofríos con sus acordes. Simplemente el genio del fusión 👏
Has anyone ever tried writing out the the possible scale alterations like he did?
I got about halfway through it and 3 years latter my mind is still recoverying.
Inhuman streches to play those chords
O mais " fora da curva que eu já vi"
Assombroso!.
Jaja es cierto. No deja vu available
Alano tiene valore
McLaughlin Zappa Metheny Benson Shawn Lane Vai Gary Moore Lifeson Lukather Schon Petrucci EVH Satriani Malmsteen Mcalpine Gambale Connors Garsed Santana Morse... among many other world class and legendary guitar players who thought Holdsworth was the absolute best
Making it look complicated than it really is
Playing the chords/notes itself is not complicated but coming up with it is✌🏻
Hold on, let me try to play along...
So yeah, I don't have fingers anymore.
Me Too ! jajajaja😂
Erm…
Meshuggah are pretty much a metal version of this!😮
Great guitarist but that sounded like shit to me just being honest
Clean your ears.
@@danielduplantier3741 they’re clean, i just like music that actually sounds good
