The idea of saved being understood as preserved even in english is so mind opening, particularly with regards to the immaculate conception, and the absolute primacy of Christ. We see how the virgin Mary is truly saved and without the debt of sin (debitum peccati)

The problem with universalism I see is that it presupposes we know how holy God is and how our sins relate to that holiness. But I think God's holiness is infinitely greater that any of us could ever imagine and, therefore, our sins against this holiness are also infinitely greater than we think. Just a thought. Thanks for a great interview.

But then- this (at the least) equally applies to God’s Love, which Paul says in Ephesians “surpasses knowledge”. Add to that the fact that God IS Love as His essence… and His Holiness is not just in contrast to “sin” - but in contrast to ALL comparisons-He is unlike all else (especially man) in that His Love endures ALL things- His Love NEVER fails…
One of the greatest passages on God’s Holiness is found in Hosea:
“I will not execute my burning anger; I will not again destroy Ephraim; for I am God and not a man, the Holy One in your midst, and I will not come in wrath.” (11:9)
Blessings and Peace in Christ ❤

One problem with your argument is that it misses the deeper issue of why a God who literally IS love would create creatures who would be related to Him as His children who would quite possibly, through concupiscence, ignorance and profoundly weak natures end up in a state of eternal conscious torment. Whether it be through arbitrary predestination or through the supposedly "free" choice to reject the only possible fulfillment of one's created nature, the glorious union with the great Divine Lover, the decision to create even one rational being who He infallibly knows will end up in a state of eternal conscious torment is an act of literally infinite cruelty. There is no comparable act of cruelty to compare with infinite torture. The wonderful news is that the Good Shepherd will leave the 99 and pursue the one lost sheep until he or she makes it home.
      I so love Jesus....
