    For the money, especially if you get in on the pre-order special, it can't be beat for fit and finish. I have this watch and the lume is insane and that's a good thing. Now as far as bezel action, I find it a little stiff but satisfying. The clicks do what it's suppose to do and lock the bezel to align the minute track to the bezel markings. Mine does that in spades, with NO play at all. As dive watches go you can't ask for more. If you want a smoother, better bezel action you'll have to go up to a much higher price point. My only issue is with the bezel edge. I don't think it's aggressive enough. I find it can slip as I'm turning the bezel but honestly I'm not going diving with this watch and so not really an issue.

    • @LumePip
      @LumePip  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, I’m definitely not going diving any time soon! And at the preorder price, it’s hard to fault them, I agree there. Maybe these later iterations have bucked the trend somewhat, but on the secondary market, Zelos would be well above that, and I think that’s where they lose all their value. Nonetheless, glad you enjoy yours!

    The quality controll issues seem to be a real thing , but tend to get excused by the good service. Elshan did the same for my watch. I had a millimeter of lume missing from the bezel insert and got a complete replacement with free express shipping. Got the replacement watch within three days and it got shipped over the weekend. Truely service like no other brand out there. I'm waiting for the new Le joux perret version of the SF40 , it should be releasing somewhere in the end of this year!

    I've got one Zelos, the 42mm titanium frost Swordfish. I've had some reasonably minor issues with mine (spring bars, endlinks not fitting unless swapped to the other side, bezel spring broke) and Elshan took care of them for me. But, one thing I've definitely noticed - any company that's biggest reputation point is great customer service, they've earned that reputation by needing to do a lot of customer service. It's good that they handle it well, and Elshan definitively does. But it's not good that they have to do it so often.

    I do believe your expectations do not line up with the asking price. I am not a flipper. I may have a couple of dozen watches in my collection but I’ve been collecting since 1969 so maybe not such a huge number. I’ve yet to pay over 1K for a piece except my Dad’s 2 hand Omega dress watch and Great Grand Uncle’s pocket watch. I got my very 1st Zelos a couple of months ago. Blue dial meteorite dial, 300 M dive with a Miyota 9075 jump hour GMT. My 1st 48 click bi-directional bezel. It is gorgeous, was the most expensive of the 4 V of MAKO lll GMT @$629.00.
    Hope you are over your old problems (saw this vid was 2 yo) and give them another try. Fine vid btw, thanks!

    • @dinner_workingsly

      Incorrect…saturation diving is a whole different level of diving. Before dive computers bezels were critical for recreational diving. Saturation diving would certainly not be the modality to employ bezel use.

  • @shadowgolem9158
    @shadowgolem9158 2 года назад +3

    You might find that click eases up after a bit of use. I have a feeling the spring inside the bezel is just punch metal. Once the sharp edge wears down it should click easier. I've had a similar experience with NH35 based micro brands and usually just cranking it around helps. A drop of "dry" bike chain oil under the bezel might help a bit too? The dry stuff so it is not a dirt magnet.

    I like this review.. well done. I just got a titanium Damascus one in for review.. been peaking to see what ppls thoughts were on the swordfish.
    I ended buying my own because of how well it fit me. I went with the titanium blood moon red Meteorite Dial.
    I think I thought 💭 the same at 1st… boooooo an NH35 movement.. really? But when I thought longer the Nh35 movement is great because it’s easy to service or replace… and it’s bullet proof in reliability so why not … let’s just say it didn’t deter me enough not to buy one. We’ll see if it sticks around.

    Great review! I love my Zelos but I have to admit that I’ve had to have 2 of them replaced. One had a binding crown and a clasp that wouldn’t secure correctly. The other hand an issue with the movement which I really can’t put on them. Both times Elshan responded personally and immediately to make it right so I’m still a fanboy.

    Excellent review and I'm loving your humour!! I really do like these sort of videos that gives a user's experience of a product - which is often a combination of good and not so good.
    Zelos has been on my radar for a long time, their watches seem to have good specifications, look great and are well priced. But I've never bought one - I think like you have pointed out they do sell out quick, so most of the popular models have sold before you get a chance! Also despite all of the green lights to buy I just don't seem to like any one of their watches enough to actually buy! Having said that, most people that do own a Zelos really do speak very highly of the brand and their watches.

    • @LumePip
      @LumePip  3 года назад +1

      Thanks so much, mate! I really appreciate that. Zelos have a great brand identity, something which I think a lot of micro brands struggle to attain without going really out there with their design language. I’d try one out and see if it’s for you, but like I say, I wouldn’t go over retail. The Swordfish model offers good value at the retail price, but not above! 🤟 Again, there will be those who disagree and that’s fair enough.

      I suspect them being always sold out is part of the business plan. They tier their price and sell most them to 'affliated' eBay flippers to get more $ vs advertised pre order price and fool people into thinking they are high demand so people pay more.

    Thank you for posting this video. I recently ordered an Abyss 3 in bronze and had QC issues as well. The first one sent to me had bad bezel alignment. They sent another one that had better alignment (still a little off.) I was okay with that until I inspected it further. There were smudges on the 11:00 and 12:00 indicators. The indicators on the left side of the dial were raised up and on the right side were laying flat. I was not willing to give Zelos another chance and will not buy from them again. Now that I'm paying attention to their bezels I see most do not line up. It seems like the newer ones are worse. I'm not sure how companies are okay with this.

    The bezel action is perfectly fine and its feel is subjective, personally not for me either. Keep in mind, you literally went for the cheapest model so you get what you pay for. Those are reasons why I don't go for the SF. Try higher end models, don't judge Zelos based off their most basic bitch model. E.g. the Blacktip has one of the best bezels under 4k, period.

    My experience with zelos is pretty bad. The qc isn't good, bezel spring broke and the bezel ring was impossible to remove i ended up bending it, it was so tight. Wont buy another zelos. Glycine, certina, Seiko, orient, Christopher ward, helm are much better value imo and u dont need to deal with customs every time. Just my 2 cents.

    Enjoyed your review and turn of phrase 😀. I’ve had two Zelos watches, the Swordfish 40 bronze and HH3 both teal dial, but sold both. I felt the Swordfish was a tad on the small side and decided I’d rather have the Seiko ‘dark manta’ samurai than the Hammerhead. Like you I’ve tried to like them but haven’t found the perfect Z for me (yet). I do know what you mean about the bezel, although mine weren’t as bad as yours. Just a bit different!

      Thanks, Graham! Wow, two ends of the spectrum size-wise. And I had the Dark Manta Samurai and loved it, but sold it - I massively regret that. It's a stunning watch. I had the Hexam bracelet from Strapcode and it was honestly incredible. I'd like the 8-day pilot thingy (can't remember the name now)...HORIZONS! Yeah, one of those, but not got that sort of dough for a Zelos atm.

    So out of nearly 6 minutes of this video, you spent 4 minutes praising Zelos, Elshan, the quality of the watch, the customer service, and the lume. Your main issue is, if I understand, is the bezel feel? Its too "clicky" for you? That's your issue? And it doesn't fit your wrist "quite right"? And for this you're never buying a Zelos again? Seriously?
    Well, for me, that's fine.......one less person to compete against. More Zelos for me. I've lost count as to how many Zelos I've owned since discovering the company, counting both owned currently and owned then sold. Uniformly I can tell everyone and anyone of the excellent quality, fit, finish, lume, customer service, quality control, design.....all of it. And I personally know other collectors with many "high end" watches who routinely buy Zelos and are very impressed with them.
    You of course are entitled to your POV, and I will fight to the death for your right to express it. But I think you're cheating yourself out of some of the finest watches out there, micro brand or not. But you do you sir. I respect your opinions on this matter....I just happen to strongly disagree with them. But good luck on the never-ending watch hunt.

    Just in general, paying over retail makes zero sense for anything in life. there are other options. people make bad decisions with their money. but then dont complain about the cost of things.
    people who drive a 100K BMW should not complain about the cost of Gas.

    Overhyped. Limited by design with small releases and regularly changing varieties to keep people collecting. Its a watch brand for collectors of 'limited things' rather than 'value driven purchases'.

    Zelos does not appreciate. Lol..They make limited quantities with tiered pricing strategy. Ebay flippers buy them all up at pre order price and sell them at higher end of the tiered price, creating the illusion the value went up(when the pre order price was the real price all along)., I suspect maybe a part of their business plan to create perception of demand and value.. One thing I do respect about them vs 1000's of crap micros is at least they are not rebages of alibaba watches, blantant homages or freinkenhomages 99%micro are. However, they do the flavor of the month lumed Ceramic bezel/dial gimmick like every micro.

    • @Cristianomare

      @@LumePip You've been too harsh on the brand. The reason why people have boxes full of Zelos is because they are freakin good watches for a relatively low price and a great customer service. Also, one of the few brands in the whole world ( yes I'm also considering big established brands) that actually has ORIGINAL designs. Moreover, they innovate in terms of materials. A slightly misaligned or too hard to click bezel dont justify all the hate I'm reading on this page! Zelos is GREAT
