And that is what i love about you...the horse always comes first no matter what. If only everyone was like that. Well done for a brilliant dressage and cross country xx
Jancis and I are just not people who can patch them together with tape and expect them to go and perform. We wouldn’t be people who keep injecting etc just to keep the horse on the road.
Really sorry the mud fever soreness happened . You were excelling in the event Well done 👏. I used to have pink skin horses with mud fever. Managed eventually to cure it and avoid for the future- due to my own hands cracking I realise needed to wash in warm water as cold cracks more and dry thoroughly.. A vet nurse told me hibiscub can be irritating on regular use to sensitive skin so I switched to Nettex muddy marvel... it is a barrier cream . I trialled using it straight onto scabs without washing legs ..gradually working it in over a few days broke the scabs down and the wounds underneath were self healing then as the area was kept healthy from the mud under the cream .. this method worked for me , cured the mud fever as it was happening and then stopped it happening again by using the barrier cream in advance for future. I did Endurance and water was always thrown over the horses for cooling 🐎 but I never needed to wash off mud fever again.. Hope this will help you.. and Good luck for next year.
I possibly made a mistake with how I treated. I have muddy marvel and some good Lincoln stuff and probably should have put cream on instead of what I did do.
@theeventingjourney232 hey you did what seemed right at the time ... I've got that t-shirt along with a few others which over the years.. Unfortunately there isn't a suitable instruction book for times like these . Onwards and upwards 👍 x
Well done, you made the cross country look so easy! Very disappointing ending but glad it's nothing too serious. Can't wait to see her going again next year!
Excellent Lucy 🤩 shame re mud fever love your attitude. I know the feeling my top stallion was the same one hind 2” above the heel pad pretty much every wet season if I didn’t get the Vaseline on in time before he went out for the day .
What a shame, great dressage and cross country this week, at least you end the season with a good dressage score and cross country round! Hope Incey enjoys her well-earned holiday and next season you pair will fly!
2/3 not too bad! She is being aimed towards feral slowly. In for a shock when she will be out in the field 24/7 as standing at gate on time waiting to come in yesterday right on time. The worst is the Shetland who designed for Scottish living and yet at 4pm is pretty cross and vocal if not yet come into to her stable.
Really well done, I watched you on the steeplechase and listened to every jump on the cross country willing you and Incy on, particularly through the first water and knowing you were in 3rd place was so exciting 💪we sat at the last water and she just flew it, you rode so brilliantly and your dressage was up there, she looked fit and happy, a great testament to you. I kept an eye on your scores and was so disappointed for you when I saw that you had withdrawn, but, credit to you, such the right decision. You had a great experience ready for next year. I didn't shout or wave as I thought it might put you off 😅 Great stuff, keep the content coming, it is so refreshing and keeps me determined to get going again next season X
Thank you that’s really kind of you. My relief when she was so keen at first water was huge. I made her splash through several puddles on the roads and tracks which probably didn’t help the rubbing. It wasn’t the ending I hoped for but it’s not serious and I have ended on a good note. I heard a rumour that they were looking to up % qualified for Badminton GR so I am keeping all my fingers and toes crossed that regional finals go to 30%. Knowing my luck it will be 25% but have given it everything to at least try. Definitely get back out there next year, it’s never perfect and very much good days and bad but having good mates and a nice horse is a good start for the day and the rest you are either winning or learning!
@@theeventingjourney232 so hoping you get that entry ☝ please keep us updated. Our Winter training/comps will start soon so I will have an idea for next year, but the ginger is feeling VERY well 😅 so, onwards we go 🙂
Lucy, just a thought, they can get a mite / mange type of infection than looks like mud fever, may well be worth considering if she dosn't respond to mud fever treatment. it's treated with a simple mange wash. best regards Graham
Thanks it was a no brainer. She wasn’t her normal chipper self when I went to stable and even after an hour in field still looked depressed and was very dramatic if you tried to touch her leg.
Incey and you looked amazing, saw you out on section A of the roads and tracks powering through my checkpoint! Pity about the mud fever but what a brilliant XC round she was flying. Really looking forward to seeing what you get up to next year :)
Thanks for volunteering- she was a horror on Phase A really spooky and full of it as was a bit confused by it all kept expecting a jump and I had been told by the eventual winner that phase A was a lot quicker than you thought so tried to be up each km so could then walk.
@theeventingjourney232 I said to my checkpoint partner that I wondered if the horses thought it was strange not seeing jumps! Lots of them were really spooky trotting past as well.
What a shame about the mud fever but doesn't that sum up horses! She looked fabulous out cross country and I have no doubt you'll have a great season next year. I found the commentator repeatedly mispronouncing her name so ridiculous though 🤣🤣🤣
Opinions are like bum holes, everyone has one. Have you had cancer? Have you been stuck on drugs that impact you just to stay alive? Possibly, probably not. Shitty comments don’t bother me, they do reflect on what type of person you are though.
Well done both she was amazingly .🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤a get better quickly.❤
She looks a lot better today but still isn’t 100%

I hope Incey has healed up ok. You are both getting better and better. Best dressage and x country . Next year grl will be yours!!!
Thanks - she is back to her normal bouncy ways now.
Well done, you made the cross country look so easy! Very disappointing ending but glad it's nothing too serious. Can't wait to see her going again next year!
I am so exhausted I can’t even think about next year! Will go and have some fun on Robbie while she has her break.
She looked amazing and so fit. Welldone.. lovely cross country and fab experience for you both!!❤
Thanks - she did spend quite a lot of yesterday snoozing so poor thing was pretty tired but I suspect not helped by being sore.
Incey looked amazing and nice dressage. She was fab across country. Next year will be her year I am sure of it. 🍾🥂
Haha Jancis and I have a joke about that saying and it never quite happens for us
Yes love your attitude. Onwards and upwards. Lots to be proud about and look forwards to 💚☘️🇮🇪
Thanks
Excellent Lucy 🤩 shame re mud fever love your attitude. I know the feeling my top stallion was the same one hind 2” above the heel pad pretty much every wet season if I didn’t get the Vaseline on in time before he went out for the day .
It’s a pain. She hasn’t even really been out in wet as been in all weather just has chronic pink skin.
What a shame, great dressage and cross country this week, at least you end the season with a good dressage score and cross country round! Hope Incey enjoys her well-earned holiday and next season you pair will fly!

Love your attitude❤. Always another event! So exciting to watch your XC!!! Way to go in the first two events!!!!
Thanks so much!!

Not the perfect end to the season, but not bad either! Nice dressage and great cross country, good things to remember all winter. Thanks for sharing!
A moderate end! I really wanted the badminton qualification but hey ho, sometimes things don’t happen the way you want them to.
Oh Lucy you can’t get a break can you? But what a fantastic performance from the pair of you 👏👏👏👏🥂🥂
Thanks - it’s a pretty disappointing end and not even a completion rosette! Oh well dust yourself over and try again.

She is a nightmare as photosensitive in summer and mud fever in winter. We have some good mud fever cream so should bounce back quickly
What a shame. It was going so well, but obviously the horse comes first. All the other elements looked great, so well done. ❤
Some people make it look easy - I seem to prefer the hard way 🤪
Argh bless you. Love your attitude
Thanks, if I was on performance related pay based on my eventing results, I would be sleeping on a park bench…!! 😬
What a shame bit absolutely love how you manage her horses, always putting their needs before yours. Always another day 😊

Oh what a shame about the mud fever. She was going so well 😢.. good job though Lucy 👍
At least we finished on a good note and I am just so pleased she was back to the horse I know she is.
Insey looks stunning
Thank you - she scrubs up well!

Just laughing at the “bike ride bum”
@@Golden1989-daysit’s pretty bad… too stingy to buy mud guards though!!
Pity about the mud fever. Horse first always.
Probably a few things I would do differently next time like add a barrier cream but knowledge is something you gain after you need it.
What a shame about the mud fever but doesn't that sum up horses! She looked fabulous out cross country and I have no doubt you'll have a great season next year. I found the commentator repeatedly mispronouncing her name so ridiculous though 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah it made us chuckle. Her owner/breeder has a penchant for ridiculous names for her horses.
@theeventingjourney232 big fan of horses having silly names 🤣
Tbh you look a bit too big for that saddle 🫤🤔
