You are awesome...thank you for your video. My wife's car had the same problem. I called the honda dealership and they wanted to charge me $285+tax...After watching your video and order the app on Ebay for $99 I installed in 25 mins..thanks so much for your post. saved me almost $200 ..money that i can use for food.
Honda in Chicago tried to charge me $700 to do this! So after watching your vid I laughed in their faces and did it myself! Thanks for making this video and sharing!
The dealership replaced my throttle body because they said that that sensor was the problem. Cost $217. The same day I got it back. It did it again. I'm going to order that part tomorrow and fix it myself! Thanks for the video.
Great detailed tutorial. My car has the same issue. I took it to the dealership they asked for $550 ($200+ for parts & $300+ for labor). This video will really help me out. Thank you.
They wanted to charge my daughter $499 to do it!!! Thank you very much for posting.....This is fun and easy due to your video. I could have done it without this. Thank You!!!
So, I've never even changed the oil in a car before but for some reason now that I got some tools recently I felt compelled to feel manly and "fix my car". Your video was 15min worth of testosterone for this car noob. Thanks for the help! Just a note if it hasn't already been mentioned. If after replacing everything and taking taking a test ride you may notice the idle being much higher than before... you just want to loosen that nut that held the wire in place to give a little slack on the throttle wire. Or whatever it is called. Thanks again!
Thank you for the video! I bought the item on eBay Friday. Received it on Monday. Following your easy instructions, I replaced the device in about a little less than a half hour. To think how much I saved on labor and not having to leave my car with a mechanic for several hours. The hardest part was removing the assembly and not breaking or bending the AC valves. I have a 2004 Honda Accord V-6 and there is very little maintenance and repair I won't do myself. However, the check engine light and TCS light no longer comes on. Which was dangerous because I lost power at 80mph and other cars behind me. Thanks again!
Thank you so much I just did mine all though I wasn’t to sure if I had to tighten or loosen the cable so I left it like that so now that I seen your video I’m going to take it out and tight the cable thank you 🙏🏼
2007 TLS Symptoms that started; slight surging, felt like the a/c was repeatedly/rhythmically being turned on and off 2nd and 3rd gear at 2500 to 3000 rpm. OBD 1200 Code P2138. So far so good after replacing! Thank You For Posting!
@@rickharrison6969I just saw your reply after six years! Sorry!! I was at a stop sign. I let out the clutch, (I don’t remember the rpm’s) absolute power loss. I pushed the clutch in and out again, I turned around and parked it. Since I changed it out no problems. Sorry about the six year response.
Thank you very much for the video, and it was very informative. Apparently Hondas/Acuras having the APPSA issue, especially with the V6 models. I personally drive a 2005 Acura TL and I have purchased the APPS, because I was having the same issue such as Loss of power, hesitation, and reluctant to accelerate. However, I did not have a check engine light on in order to diagnose the issue. I had to ask a lot of people in order to diagnose the issue. A lot of Acura TL owners are having this issue, and now I know how to replace the sensor thanks to this video.
MR logic i have a ? am having same problem on acura tsx 2004 loss of power when pressing gas no codes so is there any way to see if i have a app sensor did you change your yet and if you did any more power loss /////?????/
Disconnect the negative battery cable, then app electrical connector. Take the plastic cover off. Then the throttle cable connection. These last two steps makes it much easier and quicker.
Yes. The important thing is to remove the throttle cable first before removing the sensor from the mount. Once the sensor is off the mount removing the accelerator cable is more difficult since you have to hold the sensor with one hand.
Good vid, helped me fix the same sensor on a 2006 Acura TL. The toughest part was wedging the thing back into place, other than that a piece of cake. Thanks.
Hi Leroy. Great vieo. I've got this problem on my CRV and started to try to figure out what to do... one always worries about what's going to happen when you open up "the simplest" of things. But you vieo shws that I can do the job myself - now I'm about to find out where I can buy a new sensor at a much lower price than Honda is offering - which feels like just too much!
Hello. I was diagnosed the same problem on my honda accord 2007. However i found only the throttle position sensor (the black plastic) my question if you or someone else known, do i have to change the body as well as it was shown on your video or i can just change the throttle sensor? The price is approx 200 euro difference...
You show some lights on the dash board when this sensor was giving you problems my car is a 2004 Honda accord v6 3.0 and a think this sensor is giving me a problems bicus sometimes works good and some days the car Shake's and sometimes the check engine light is on and then some light come on the dashboard I think is the TPS light and another light and then I had to turn off the car and turn on again to the car keep working.. You car was duin the same think... And thanks to take the time to make this video is really good on details...
Hello every one, congratulation for the video. I changed this one Honda Accord 2006 2.4 liter, but now, when turn on the car, when I press the accelerator it no response I need to clear the fail code with a scanner or reprograming.
Great video Mr Herron! My wife's '07 Accord V6 is having the same issue and I pulled the same code (P2138). Its frustrating because its intermittent but nothing matters more than our loved one's safety so I'm just going to replace it. The only question I have is how to mark the two nuts on the cable if they are not already marked. Are you marking them on the all-thread/ bolt, or just their orientation to each other? Thanks so much again man! Truly a HUGE help.
On mine, the engine light went off after installing the sensor. You can disconnect both battery terminals from the battery and use a wrench or a screwdriver to touch the two terminals together and discharge it and that will reset the codes as well.
Great video, I needed all the details. Most of the other videos are min in half long. Quick question I'm doing this to acura TL 06 so the procedure would be same? Also how much torque do I need to apply to cable or just make sure it's real tight?
The procedure should be the same from what I can tell, the sensor is located in the same place for both cars. As far as the tension goes, mine was marked on the two nuts with a red marker to show where they lined up at and I was able to line those back up. it took me a minute in the video to get it right but what I would do is if the nut are not marked, use a sharpie or something similar to mark them and also place your finger on the cable and feel the tension yourself and you should be able to get it back to the same tension that way. Once you you have it aprart you'll be able to tell! Thx
Man I got same code! On my 06 Mitsubishi outlander. Pedal to the floor no power and terrible gas mileage. I tried buying aftermarket ones are not working.
You didn't show how you un-mounted it from where it is installed in the engine compartment. That to me is just as, if not more important than how to take the cover off, disconnect the cable and the electronic connector. Once I saw that you had it un-mounted, I quit watching your video.
its stupid fucking easy to do once he shows you where everything is at. take a second to figure it out. does everything have to be spoon fed to you? fucking mouth breather

Thanks for this. The local Honda dealership quoted $350+tax to replace this on an '07 Accord. Got the part from RockAuto for $93.

Most major parts stores will have this part in stock or can have it in a day or two

How to know the cable isn’t to tight ? Will be there a problem if so?
hi - where did you purchase your replacement sensor from? having the same issue with an 06 accord...lost about 60% of the acceleration

Do you have to reset the system after you put it in ?
To be honest, I can’t remember. I think the engine light just went off after driving it for a few miles.
