Mine has heated grips and throttle lock and it's my favorite bike in the world! It's a 2, not 4. The 25 L is for going far. 6th gear is for cruising, drop it to 5 if you want to twist. ;) Thanks for sharing this.
The factory shocks were designed for plush touring and are usually knackered by around 25000km. Throw a set of Ohlins shocks on that bike and you will be able to put your knee down no problem. I’ve got an R1100RT now, another RT for parts (I originally put 100,000km on it prior to a wiring harness meltdown) and had an R1150GS for 150,000km. They all perform shockingly well on twisty roads with well maintained aftermarket performance shocks.
@@christianf8347 since these bikes are getting so old now, you will likely have to find one on ebay or some sort of used market place as BMW probably doesn't make them any more. You might get lucky and find one in old stock at a dealer somewhere... but I seriously doubt it. Anyway, good luck on the hunt.
Used to ride these in the police. Found the seat extremely comfortable. Could do a ten hour shift, get off and have no complaints. Maybe you have a boney arse. They were great bikes, like riding in a bubble. Top speed? Yeah, never going to light the world on fire.
@Nilsfried it says it’s rt1150 not 1200. Spec = Engine size - Displacement - Engine capacity 1130.00 ccm (68.95 cubic inches) Bore x Stroke 101.0 x 70.5 mm (4.0 x 2.8 inches) Compression Ratio 11.3:1 Number of valves per cylinder 4 Camshaft Valvetrain Configuration SOHC Maximum power - Output - Horsepower 93.87 HP (68.5 kW) @ 7250 RPM Maximum torque 100.00 Nm (10.2 kgf-m or 73.8 ft.lbs) @ 5500 RPM
Weak frontbrake?!? Does it still have the Servobrakesystem installed? Normally this bike brakes as the best with the servo brakingsystem installed. As already mentioned by others, the 6th gear is an overdrive and no, the exhaust is not the standard one, and please, it's not "cool" to be bussy on your phone while riding. Also it's a twin, not a four... You can get several kinds of stock seats from BMW to fit your bottoms.
No idea. I was just collecting and delivering it...didn't really look at it too closely. All I know is if you tickled the rear brake it stopped like you'd stamped on it
yep, normally with this R1150Rt with integral brakes and servo+ ABS its like throwing a boat anchor out when you brake. Brakes are very 'grippy'. Don't like aftermarket exhausts on BMW's either. This isn't a bike made for that. It doesn't matter if you brake with both hand and foot, all 3 discs will be used anyway, even if you only use the front brake handle. It has loads of stopping power. It is indeed a boxer twin, not meant to rev it to the max btw. It is meant to ride it with loads of torque and low revving.
The gear indicator is ok. It shows “E" which stands for "economy" which is just another way to call "overdrive". It looks like she’s very low on her mileage (km) but not sure if I see it correctly. Under 10k km?
Bonjour. Je possède également une r1150 rt de 2004 avec 46.000km. Comment se présente le système de blocage de l'accélérateur, svp ? Sinon, je serais bien intéressé par la selle confort de chez Bmw. Merci ,bonne route.
I put 175000 on my R1150RT and she's still running like a champ.Keep them maintained well, ride them far and often, and they'll last forever. OEM seats aren't comfy, i bought some custom seats for my bike and never looked back.
Nice video, I have the same BMW, from 2003 with 97000k, top speed still around 210 km/h, very important with this bike is the synchronisation from the throttle bodies, like you told already, the seat isn't very good, but I got used to it.
Friend, very good machine that you tried, and a very nice country in which you did it, however, my only very negative comment for you would be; The fact that you took out your cell phone and started texting!... You're crazy! You were incredibly lucky that you didn't kill yourself and in the process, you didn't kill or hurt another person. You were so irresponsible! I hope you read this one day.
I rode my Wiseco 1135cc, but otherwise an all stock sleeper 1984 GPz1100 on an almost daily 50 mile commute for 8 years. After a hard day's work, I would put my left elbow on the grip and rest my chin on my fist on the tank. That was perfect for peering over the windscreen at 100 mph. My 1 hour trip by car only took 40 minutes by bike.
@@lohsun2006 yeah! love my 2002 R1150RT very much as well. It's my favourite spaceship on wheels. So comfi! I feel like the king of the road on that bike. Great roadhandling, The screen is awesome, I love this bike!
Flat 4? No, it is a flat 2-cylinder, boxer engine. Same design since 1923. I have a 2004 (my 3rd one) and get 35-42 MPG. Very low center of gravity for a sport touring bike.
Bruh... between the liters, kilometers, bizarre accents, some little asian female putting the gas in your tank and driving on the wrong side of the road - this video made my head hurt!
The CBF1000 takes 19L, so did the Fazer :) Big tanks save......stops....that's about it. BMW build really good bikes.....really good.....but they never promised exciting :D Hahahaha the phone usage :D All those tourers have lowish bhp which kills yer big boy shpeed. I wouldn't buy one either tbh :/
Not a flat four. It's a two cylinder boxer.

I want one , always hankered for a boxer
agreed . mine is 2002 , everything else 2nd to these touring gems

Bmw does make a comfort seat for this model which is very good. I had a corbin seat as well but preferred the bmw comfort seat as it is much larger.

Riding and texting is cool but when the car hits the brake in front of you do you drop the phone or the bike?
The bike of course. My phone is worth more 😁
I have a 1993 RT. It’s an old bike but smooth as silk. So dependable I would ride it across the country.

Out of the RT’s I’ve owned and have now, the 1150rt was my favorite and I’m sorry I let it go. Engine, easy to work on and maintain.

Looked like fun. Nice vid Bro 👍👍
Just found out it's not a 4 cylinder though hahaha

Gets you cruising at 100mph for hours on end at ease that what it's for..
Did you say flat 4 ??? am I missing something here ??
