    Horseback riding is actually practiced all over Romania , not just a Hungarian sport, for example in Letea Forest (Danube Delta) you can still find wild free horses. In Ploiesti (not far from Bucharest) there is a hippodrome, where they organize horse races. As for what King Charles likes, there are some details online - he was trying all the local produces including fruits, cheese , jam (of course palinca and tuica are produced locally, too 😆) etc. I remember a documentary and they said he took jars of local jam to Buckingham Palace and it was their favorite. He was really encouraging all the local small businesses and preservation of the area. That's why he let people rent his house when he's not there.

      Oh I didn’t realize this. One of the people there said that during Communist times, horseback riding was outlawed in Romania, and so a lot of Romanians since then have lost the passion for it. Anyway, thanks for watching and commenting 👍👍

      @@JetLagWarriors Sort of, the Hippodrom was not active for a long time, but there were some horse riding places , and we had champions in this field (Cristian Topescu was the most beloved one). But yeah, it was not a popular sport, only a few were passionate and had the means to do it. Still is not one of the most popular (compared with football, tennis or swimming etc. - where we have international champions) but it is re-developing more and more. And it is quite an expensive sport, to be fair. But you could see everywhere horses and carriages in the country . Although, right after the WWII the communists did confiscated the horses in some areas (for food! after war there was food shortage) - 40 years later my grandad was still crying with big tears every time he talked about his two beloved horses he lost back then. P.S. There are actually several Horse Breeds originated in Romania, but I don't think I am able to translate them all: Romanian Trotter (trapas Romanesc), Lipiţan, Romanian Sporthorse, Huțul (or Carpathian Pony), Bucovina Horse ..

    Regarding King Charles’ Romanian roots. To be fair all European Royal families are related one way or another. Queen Elisabeth (King Charles) was cousin with the late Romanian King Mihai. But … he is also direct descendent of Vlad Tepes, so he might be more Romanian than King Mihai, since Mihai is descendent of Hohenzollern royal family (not Romanian), and Vlad Tepes was as Romanian as it can be. Only a DNA test will tell you if the new King of Brits is a vampire or not 😂

    • @XXI_Rapax
      @XXI_Rapax Год назад +10

      Actually King Mihai was related to Prince Consort Philip (cousins) not the Queen. Also they were very good friends since childhood, born in the same year.

    • @denised7045

      @@XXI_Rapax He was, BUT you are wrong, he was cousin with BOTH of them , Queen Elisabeth AND Prince Philip (yeap, these Royal families, as I said, all relatives between them). Mihai was the grand-grandson of Queen Victoria, both from mother and father side (!). I know he was cousin with Prince Philip too, I just don't know the lineage, though. And King Charles is related to Vlad Tepes also through his mother, Queen Elisabeth, whose great-great grandmother was born in Transylvania. A lot of marriages between cousins in European Royal families 🤭

    • @elenaisaic1
      @elenaisaic1 Год назад +6

      It is true, Romanian Princess Margaret is related to the King, both via Queen Victoria and the Late Queen, but also via Prince Phillip. Yet, these family ties didn't bring King Charles any inheritance in Romania. Apparently he fell in love with the country and decided to buy some typical Romanian houses in order to preserve them and not only...

    You were curious how important a Count is. Well, in medieval times, you had these ranks (amongst others): Baron -owns a town and the hamlets around it, sometimes a forest or lake as well, Count - owns several towns and all the land around them (basically a county), including a castle that served as a seat of power, Duke -owns a whole region. And finally King/Queen, who literally own everything. And when I say own, it's quite literal -in Medieval times, the nobility owned the land and "leased" it to everyone living there, in exchange for taxes, levies and more.
    This hierarchy was extremely strict, and every social class only dealt with the one below or above it. The King could never interact with a Count, that was the Duke's domain. Of course, the King could replace a Duke if he really wished, but he could not touch the Counts, as they automatically fell under the new Duke. And so forth -Dukes could replace Counts at will, but couldn't do anything about Barons, etc. And considering they were all related, they rarely got replaced and demoted and the title passed down the family. You're not about to fire your brother from his cozy job, are you now?
    The Clergy had a similar structure - monstery-> church ->bishopric ->god. Except in England, where Anglicans answered to the King instead of God.

    When the queen's whole vigil/funeral pageantry was broadcasted on tv and pretty much all over the internet, I stumbled over a piece of info about the now King Charles III, and that is that he actually owns several properties in Romania, one in Viscri close to Brasov, ( where, to my understanding he was last seen in March of this year) another somewhere in Covasna county, and another in Maramures, I think... so because of his ancestry that ties him to Vlad Tepes, he's become quite the ambassador for Romania, so he bought and restored some old rustic houses ( 100+ years old) and uses them either for vacationing or as Air BNBs... that part I know because there have been other tourists ( British) who visited the country last year, I think... and they were very well received at one of the properties of then Prince Charles. Also, not to troll you or mock you guys, but that's actually the proper way to make a barbecue.. sure, it helps if you have a metal disk or a grill, but most of that... it just works. When I was little, we took the whole gang from a round the block and went into the mountains, played around and then made all kinds of foods on a fire just like that. We baked potatoes, grilled meat, toasted bread and smeared it with garlic and lard... man, I'm drooling just thinking about it. Bottom line, we went to the woods, made fire, didn't set the forest or ourselves on fire, played as noisily as we wanted, made lunch and ate it, didn't get bit by snakes or eaten by wolves or bears, didn't leave trash behind... and we were all ages 8-15 with no adult supervision needed. How many kids do you know who did/do that?

      nglez ,despre inrudirea casei regale britanice cu Vlad Tepes ,iar printul a fost impresionat de peisajul superb al Transilvaniei ,de generozitatea localnicilor ,de linistea si gastronomia inca nealterata a Romaniei ,si nu in ultimul rand de Vlad Tepes ,ancestorul sau

    I think that in that room, Charles would read a translation of a history of Romanian traditional architecture. BTW, Viscri has some nice cross-country mountain bike riding. Some of it is brutally steep, but the dappled sunshine along the single track is glorious. You can also get some of the local rip-off Coca Cola in the nearby villages, which I think is a lot tastier than the real thing. The modern economy has sadly screwed many of those towns, so any money that tourists can spend there, especially buying local cheeses, honeys, jams, etc helps.

    it was a marketing strategy to help his romanian relative; prince charles only owns a part of the property. But imagine a prince going out of their way to help a small business, even if for a relative,a very distant one; He left the comfort of his palace, and at a old age, to come to transilvania and promote it. And he seems like a genuinely nice guy

    best book to read in that room would be one of those rare, 100 years old romanian folk tales collection. I'm not talking about stories you can find in anything published today. They're absolutely amazing. They have lots of devils in them, balauri (similar to dragon), zmei. You never destroy a devil, in these tales, you always just drive it away, because they're seen as a normal part of the balance of life. The main character usually defeats them by being clever, cunning, so by outwitting them. The protagonists are supposed to be the ideal romanian, so a normal person, but of strong character, so very hard working, modest and honest, resilient, but cunning (that's cause the "fights" are normally just battles of wits, since they're facing way stronger opponents, normally fantastic creatures). A funny character you can read about even in books you can find today, is Pacala (the trickster). He's supposed to be the embodiment of the romanian spirit of resilience when faced with oppression. Pacala stories are little comedic tales

    King Charles promotes the preservation of traditional architecture. As to his links with Romania, one of his great great grandmothers was a Hungarian countess from Transylvania, and she had an ancestor who was a brother of Vlad Tepes, so he thus is also related to the Wallachian ruling dinasty.

    • @stefanbuda9558
      @stefanbuda9558 Год назад +1

      Except, there was never a Wallachian ruling dynasty. Vlad Tepes was a Wallachian warlord who's main connection to Transylvania is that he was imprisoned there.

    Sooo perfect❤ Never comment something like this. But everything what u saw is not Romanian its a typical Transylvania heritage, wich is a hungarian heritage. King Charles has a relative hungarian (Rhedey Claudia countess) and a romanian royal family too.

    • @juz3r1
      @juz3r1 Год назад

      I would perhaps amend that King Charles has no Romanian relatives. During 81 years of Romanian kingship they have had only and exclusively rulers of German descent (House of Hohenzollern). These Germans never mixed with Romanians. Now Princess Margaret has a Romanian husband, but she is not a queen. This German family has only intermarried with mostly Germans and there is a small French and Italian bloodline. Since King Charles is also 75% German and these families have intermingled, there is a kinship. That is German to German! Vlad Tepes connection is not true either, there is no evidence for it. Someone writing it in a blog in 2013 is not proof.

    Vlad III Drăculea (Țepes is a nickname, from țeapă=spike). Drăculea is also a nickname but then again all family names are nicknames since the birth of Rome or before. Way more importantly is that Vlad III Țepes was the first-degree cousin of Ștefan cel Mare(Stephan the Great, voivode of Moldova) and *grandson* of Mircea cel Bătrân(Mircea the Elder, voivode of Țara Românească). For a Westerner used with hundreds of kings and queens this might not mean anything but it means everything for Romanians. This is paradoxically a thing that most Romanians don't know because it is information omitted in primary school or high-school history classes or barely mentioned.
