I've seen the first gen throw down in person at every show this summer. I don't know how it made it through the weekend at FP 2.0 It's honestly a testament to how great the 12 valve engine really is.
I’ve always said that if u want to blow the motor up so u can make it bigger and badder, then don’t run Amsoil. True testament to just how good Amsoil is under true stress.
hone job and new rings shes fookin mint. I personally was shocked the rings weren't toast and sticking. I tear down pretty much every engine that crosses my way and 90% of the time rings are sticking or seized entirely. The bad thing is most of those engines ran right before i pulled them.
Would love for Micheal to go into some detail on determining piston ring end gap, I’m getting ready to build my 12v and just don’t really know where to set them at or how to determine where I want them.
I’d honestly like to see him start a channel where he goes into detail on engine builds. I’m also planning on starting an engine build soon. And if I had to guess it would be very beneficial to many people!
Try steel pistons. Can fit longer rods with the shorter piston profile. And have pistons that are more resilient to over fueling, and rev limit cavitation.
Have Miyagi Mike sit down and go over clearances on the engine build when it was assembled. Rod/main bearing, piston to wall, ring gaps, crank thrust, piston protrusion, etc. I have a good idea of what works and what doesn’t but I’d be curious to compare recipes and I’m sure others that are in the know would be as well.
I still say if you were able to find the old Johnny send it scrap truck, or build a Johnny send it scrap truck 2.0 just for burnouts it would be a cool callback to the old days when the beginning of the videos were Greg Rollin up in the danger ranger and Johnny's neighbors would be calling the cops on him for just idleing the old 12V in the driveway haha
My first General Dodge has over 520,000 miles on it. Are you been using Amsoil since I bought it when it had 124,000 on it I run a bypass kit for oil filtration plus a Donaldson filter is the primary filter key Most important things I have superior air filtration. I probably have arguably the best filtration you’ll ever get for a pick up like mine Donaldson DBA 5202. It’s literally twice the airflow capability and the air filtration element is the same kind of air filtration they use on an M1 Abrams tank, it’s good enough for that. It’s good enough for me anyway when D.N.J. Ohio rebuilt my motor there are times I was running up to 50,000 mile oil changes running 5W 30 oil in my engine , to be fair and honest, I had some not severe leaks, but modest anyhow things like my wrist, pin, bushings or excellent didn’t need changed the cam bearing in the very front of the engine still excellent my cam tunnel is excellent and if it needed any help, those guys would’ve did it anyhow my rings were free and still had lots of attention. This is six in a row.Jim from Kennerdell pa
As many times that unit got as hot as it did, I'm shocked there isn't any real damage... I would be curious to see you guys put a level on the head, surely it has a little curve in it, right?!
That's just one of them motors that just runs like a top no matter what you trow at it if y'all can build another 12v that takes that kind of abuse I will be very surprised not talking shit it's just one of them things
Another day commenting that i want to see the 05 or the shorty do Rocky Mountain Race Week!
Dont give up
That would be awesome!
I would love to see that.
I’ll stand behind this
hes stated in past videos thats a goal of his. also the reason the 05 was built the way it was. its still a “street truck” 😂
I think the true hero is that Dana 80 welded rear that you pieced together after an old school lawn delete.
4:59 😉 thanks for the shout out!

You guys building the engine of this truck Is the first video I watched from this channel and I’m glad I kept coming back to your guys great content
Actually nice seeing a good quality engine that's had its ringhole kicked in showing no signs of trouble. Gotta love quality work

I need that new 6.7 engine that would be badass in my 4th gen mega cab. Love the videos and learning from you all thank you👊🏼🤙🏼

Looks like the battery cable needs a bike quick release clamp bolt like on mountain bikes. The handle or level cams over and makes it tighter.

best channel I subscribed to🌟, greetings from 🇸🇪
Man, I’d love to get that 12V motor.
I’m still impressed how well this thing held up to all the abuse lmao

Greg A word of the day: "Synopsis"
That Could Be Life Changing for Someone 💪
a compression test would have been interesting, i bet it wasnt far off lol
Dawson not used to driving a truck with all that power 😂
I really expected some melted pistons, but other then that it still sounded healthy.
That was honestly shocking. My luck it would have sent a rod through the block with my Luck.
Are ever going to work on that second Pete that you bought up in Crossville Tennessee
Greg you should do a family update video

I think some of us would like to see another 3rd gen on forces like the 05 and 08 from a few years back. Instead of JTXs

I’d love to see the 1st gen painted black to match the fleet for next season
Truck sounded perfect leaving.
Hola amigo cómo estás saludos acá de Austin Texas Freddy Delgado nice video saludos y bendiciones
Greg I would love to be your filmmaker I would drop everything in a heartbeat buy a plane ticket and work my behind off for you
Gunna miss the ole 12v
Are those pistons ceramic coated that were in it?
Black first gen? Will it ever live again?
Greg please find a way to add carhartt hoodies to the website ! I’d love to have a carhartt hoodie with your band on it.
What hp numbers was the 12 valve making
I believe around 800-850 if i remember correctly when they dynoed it
I’d Like to buy your p-pump when you’re done with it!
It's going in another truck the swept line
Should make it 4wd..?
How much hp did this thing make?
Where can I get Micheal shirts the only mechanic one ?
Are you going to fix the bed
Good ol reliable poverty pump engines
What’s going to happen to the shorty
Dang I miss the mikefrow
If the engine was as bad as what everyone thought we know of a particular scrap truck that needs some life
Dang just a block rehone and crank repolish
right arm
I would love to win that truck but I have no use for the trailer
That's just one of them motors that just runs like a top no matter what you trow at it if y'all can build another 12v that takes that kind of abuse I will be very surprised not talking shit it's just one of them things
Shit boys that’s nothing, re ring her and bearing it back together she goes
I'd rather have one of the superduty
*Amazing video, thanks for your steady stream. I'm favoured, $450k Returns the Lord is my saviour in times of my need!!!*
