@@EdGrassmaster I think it was because the usual production truck got stuck in a snowstorm, so they brought in the FSN Rocky Mountain truck for this game.
The Broncos collapsing down the stretch... get used to that Broncos Fans. The Chiefs are surprisingly the ones who get in and will head to Indianapolis. Larry Johnson against that run defense will give them some hope.
As a Colts fan, I had been to the game that same time against the Dolphins to clinch the #3 seed. We got back to our hotel and saw the end of this Denver game, and when the FNIA crew mentioned the Chiefs got in and would be in Indy, Collinsworth was going on about how they "couldn't have asked for a worse matchup" against Larry Johnson. Of course, we were dreading LJ as well as bad as the run D had been that month. Luckily, Bob Sanders returned and the rest was history.
mike shanannan towards the end of his tenure as the broncos coach had a tendency of his teams starting off good and collapsing towards the end of the season
To think the chiefs had to beat the Jags, the bengals had to lose to the Steelers, the titans had to lose to the pats and the Broncos had to lose to the Niners in order for KC to make the playoffs. AND ALL OF THAT HAPPENED. Probably the most unlikely clinching scenario in NFL history that ended up happening.
The Pats beating the Titans was predictable, as they were still battling the Colts for the #3 seed and had to go all out (let's just say the Colts getting it was crucial), but the Bengals and Broncos flat out choked in their games. Steelers weren't quite what they'd been the last two seasons but did send Bill Cowher out a winner. Plus the Jags had blown out the Colts three weeks earlier and were playing well at the right time, so for the Chiefs to beat them was huge.
Frank Gore continues his assault of NFL defenses as the 49ers knock the Broncos out of the playoffs in a season where they overachieved dramatically, winning 7 games despite being a bottom 5 team in DVOA with the worst defense in the league and the 8th worst offense. Moving forward, this team needs a lot in terms of player development and good drafting to take the next step, starting with getting more out of Alex Smith. For Denver…..yikes. To start 7-2 only to finish 9-7 is brutal, and while uneven quarterback play was a major culprit, this team just wasn’t nearly as good as the 05 team. With an aging defense that unfortunately lost it’s best young contributor in Darrent Williams just hours after this game ended when he was killed in a drive-by shooting, this team will only go as far as Jay Cutler takes them. Also, this was the last NFL appearance for Jake Plummer, who despite all his flaws did turn his career around in Denver, going 39-15 as a starter in the regular season while completing a better percentage of his passes, throwing more TDs, and throwing less interceptions than he did in Arizona.
HOW DO YOU LOSE THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!! They should have let Plummer to finish the game. The beginning of Cutler being a big-game-choker up 13-0 at the half!!!!!! AND YOU LOSE!!!!!!! Niners were thinking about vacation at the half, if not the whole game!!!! ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS TIE!!!! JUST RUN THE BALL IN OT with less than 5 minutes left and let clock run out!!!! Kansas has done the impossible.
Denver wouldn't have did nothing in the playoffs anyway they would've went to Indianapolis and got destroyed for the third time in 4 years by the Colts.
This was karma for 2004 when Denver only got in because Indy handed them a playoff spot on a silver platter by playing Jim Sorgi over Peyton Manning for most of their week 17 game.
Crazy how this Broncos team started off 7-2 with a stingy defense and once the wheels came off it was a disaster with the Plummer Cutler situation and then to lose to the 49ers at home especially a 13-3 lead over them smh
So, we have a Chiefs at Colts rematch from 03. KC has a better defense, Indy has a worse offense. And then you have Larry Johnson vs the Colts sieve defense. Could KC flip the script from that No Punt Game? I think so. If Indy couldn't win a playoff game last year with a better team, why should I believe they'll win this year?
Rare NFL game with the NHL/NCAA/MLB on FSN 2004-2007 scoreboard
I wonder why they randomly decided to use it for this game.
@@EdGrassmaster I think it was because the usual production truck got stuck in a snowstorm, so they brought in the FSN Rocky Mountain truck for this game.
The only time NFL on Fox had the FSN score graphics at the time for some reason.
Thought I heard once that it had to with a blizzard or some other weather problem.
Not the only time believe it or not
There was one the next season, I think it was the Cardinals vs Rams game
@@playoffexpert3938 Yup, Week 5
The Broncos mightve lost the game, but later that day they lost more. RIP Darrent Williams
Sad day
😢🤲🏿
R.I.P. Darrent Williams🏈🌹
49ers' first win over Denver since 1997.
Super Bowl 24 rematch.
Mike Shanahan was the 49ers Offensive Coordinator from 1992-1994.
2:56 the bottom ticker announced some football altering news
Alex Smith’s first big win for the Kansas City Chiefs
The 49ers winning at Denver was the type of week 17 break KC didn't get last year in with the Lions at Pittsburgh
to be far though the lions had to face the bus
The loss that set the Broncos back for 4 seasons
Announcers: Curt Menefee, Daryl Johnston and Tony Siragusa
Darrent Williams last nfl game

Plummer talked about that Interception on Pardon My Take lol

RIP D.Williams, Want to mention how much that event played on Javon Walker’s career smh poor guy clearly never recovered from that night 🙏
This was the first 49ers win at Denver since 1970!
Somehow, someway, the Kansas City Chiefs without Vermeil and Priest make the playoffs.
RIP Darrent Williams

Just to get our bells rocked [pause] in week 18 by #18. But hey it was worth it 😌

Say what you want about Romo and his big game issues, but even he at least could actually make the playoffs more often than not
Go figure THIS Kansas team made the playoffs and not the far better squad in 05 under Vermeil.
And thus concluded the SECOND of four season collapses for the Broncos in the 2000s decade.

But the AFC of 06 was not as cutthroat as 05 or even 04
