The biggest thing about my car that shocked the hell out of me…987.2.. was the window trim piece about a foot-long that cost over $2000 Canadian… $2000 for a piece of plastic and rubber…
Really? I bought the EU headlights from Porsche and they only cost around 1000€ plus vat. Which part was it specifically? Did you buy it from Porsche Directly?
Also to note when I looked on eBay the headlights were just as expensive for second hand headlights as for new ones from Porsche, that's why I am asking.
@@richarddrinkwater9904 You can only get the trim piece from Porsche . There’s no aftermarket for that piece . B pillar gasket … It’s $1400 US … it’s absolutely ridiculous
I've got an 02, 3.2 liter, six speed, 986 Porsche Boxster S with Fabspeed exhaust,, CAI, catless headers, IPD Plenum/TB, Numeric shifter, Bilstein performance shocks, H&R lowering springs etc... I personally like the sleek 986 headlights; course I've got "aftermarket" clear lens lights. Even so, they are the same headlights as on the Porsche 911 GT1; one of the best looking race cars ever, and as the years went on, most Porsche models actually move towards that oval shape like on the 986 vs the more "round" minus the 911 models. I also like the "originality" of the 986... that said, they're both fantastic pure, true sports cars that are timeless!
Don't misunderstand me please, I love all the Boxsters (986 and above) and think they have fantastic road handling and feedback. When there is a well looked after 986 I would also seriously consider buying one. New lights make a big difference even if they are original ones as the crips clean lenses give the vehicle a massive uplift. I just prefer the 987 headlights a bit more but completely love the cars as a whole.
@richarddrinkwater9904 I get it! No misunderstanding here. I just like the sleek design of the original headlights; they've aged well in my oppinon. Plus my "aftermarket" headlights are even cleaner than the updated clear lens 986 lights from the factory. (Need to do a walk around one day). The Boxster has been an awesome drivers car platform from the beginning and remains so today!
Porsche has a new aftermarket option apparently. ASMR.
Nice Job covering everything....easy to follow and just buy it for what it is, not so much what it is not. Thanks
Thanks Steve.
I try but go on too much sometimes. Thanks for the feedback.
