Thanks for watching Guys! I really appreciate you all! 🙌
Knives made in the Video available here!

Thanks for doing this. You never know how drastic the differences are until you see them side by side.
Exaxtly!!
I too share your “love” of hand sanding. Much love for the amazing video and beautiful blades. Thanks!
Its the "best" am i right??
Thank you :)
Thanks for putting the time, effort and money into showing how layer count can dramatically change the overall look of a blade. I personally like the bold look of low layer counts but several patterns don’t work with low counts. I’ve seen several of your videos but this one made me subscribe. Thanks
Thanks man, appreciate it :)
Gelungenes Video!
Well, DAMN SON, there were so many layers to this video. 😂 I thought I’d fold before getting to the end…not really. Thanks for making the effort to inform and entertain. It’s always fun to see another video from you.
Thanks for watching man :D
appreciate your time
Am I the only weirdo that loves the hand sanding? The entire knife-making process is very meditative for me.
1 blade? Sure....but 10 a day... F**** no.
but if you love it and wanna do it daily call me xD
I actually really enjoy it as well
@@MartinHuber_Knives I do not enjoy 10 a day, 2 is my max, unless I somehow missed a deep scratch then absolutely loose my shit when I find it at 400 or higher grit 😂😂
Thank you for everything that you do, I'm very visual and every video explains a lot a lot.
Visualizing the process is very meaningful, having the right information.
Yeah me too!!!!
Thanks for watching!
loving the videos guys always waiting for he next one
Thanks man
Damn Son!
This is a cool project idea! It sounds a ton of work but thank you for doing it FOR SCIENCE!
FOR SCIENCE!!! (i already have a Martin Huber intro for science videos in my head)
Damn son that was some awesome looking knives there ..
Thank ya ;)
Interesting to see the side by side comparison, the sweet spot for me is definitely somewhere between 120 and 250 layers. Nice work man.
Thank you Sir! :)
You made some beautiful knifes there in your viedeo
Thanks man!
I like the 50 and 100 layers the best. Well done!
Thank you Sir!
Damn son... Love it. Remaining 200 layer bar has enough for a ton of knives. But, I say forge it down a bit, pattern it, then slice it up as cladding. Throw in a nice solid black core and some nickel sheet and make a chef set out of it. 10 inch gyuto, 6.5 inch petty, and a 3.5 inch paring knife. Then make a magnetic display stand. Then put it in the mail and send it to me. And I'll let you know how you did. lol.
hahahahahahhahaa A for Afford dude 😄🙌🏻😂
Very informative. Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Nice work as always 👍👍
thanks!
I vote you use the left over piece of damascus for a rondal dagger.
Damn, actually not a bad idea
DAMN SON!!! Love the content
DAMN SON, thanks for watchin 🥰
Great video! Will be watching this again when I'm ready to try my first Damascus. Right now I'm still building my first forges! Gonna do a propane and a coal style.
Forging my first few hundred damascus knives in a coal forge...i recomend you DO IT WITH PROPANE.
Its SO MUCH BETTER.
Thanks btw ! :D
@@MartinHuber_Knives duly noted, I appreciate the hint. Just for cleanliness alone I'll probably stick more to the propane, the coal one is just for larger projects, until I can build a bigger gas forge. Thanks again!
Ich fand die 50 und 100 Lagen am besten. Da kamen die Schichten richtig gut raus
100 ist meiner :)
Damn son, nice video as always
thanks man
Next video idea - ASMR 12 hours of Martin hand sanding. "DAMN SON" love ya'll from Dallas
omg...no...
to do that there would have to be some serious Sponsorship Money on the table 😂😂😂
But i sometimes livestream while handsanding 😂
Klingt azch interessant ;)
Which one was your favorite? The 100 looks super cool. The 200 looks very nice as well. The 50 isn't very striking by itself, but might turn out really cool with a pattern like twist. I do like that you did the 25, just so we can see what that actually looks like!
With the 25 i was actually pretty curious myself 😄😄
Loved the video! would have been cool to see a 25, 50, 100, 200, 1000, 5000 layer video then you get nice chattoyance in the steel, but it would require a hell of a lot more work as well. Keep it up guys!
1000+ layers you wont see anything anymore :)
@@MartinHuber_Knives thats exactly what I wanted to see in such a video.
You should do a badass tuna knife.
Sounds good!!
awesome showcase ❤
thanks bro!
Love you❤️
🥰❤️
Very informative, that’s the first time I’ve seen someone do a side by side comparison of different layer counts from the same billet.
I would however like to see more knife makers use clear material for the handles.
Why go through all that trouble to make a beautiful patterned knife and hide half of it? And with glue and screws, those handles are there to stay!
Thank ya, i never seen one straight like this with finished knives so i had to do it :)
I made a few clear epoxy + wood handles a few years ago.
maybe i'll give it another shot :D
Would love to see you make a badass kukri wit that piece of steel
already made 2 Kukri's this year :D
....but maybe a Kukri sword???
@@MartinHuber_Knives I watched your video on the last Kukri you made. Awesome stuff! Kukri Sword sounds like a plan!!!!
I love the lets get started format for this one. Do a Deba I've not seen anyone else do something even close . For smaller bones just under your hog splitter perhaps. I don't think most people who don't have a power hammer know just how gentle you can strike. Oh well that's my thoughts...🤣 Thank you for the content.Oh yeah DAMN SON........
as always Thanks for watching brother 🙌🏻
That hand sanding must have been sooooo long 😁
Good video though ,thanks
hated it 😂
TNX 4 VID LOL
thanks for watchin!
Danke dir!!
Ja der 100 Lagen war auch mein Favorit :)
Sehr gerne :)
Damn son, nice to see the different looks side by side. Are there any other differences beside look? Maybe better durability or flexibility when using more layers?
A similar format for different stylesof damascus would be cool like feather and mosaic?😊
Mosaic is a big name for just a Pattern manipulation, there is, litterally, MILLIONS of different styles of mosaic.
But i have a plan of doing a Feather damascus babe soon!
Ma cheriiiiiiiiiiiie ❤
IIIIIIIEEEEEEEE OOOOH OH OHOHHH ❤️
Hand sanding is the most fun part. But I hate fun.
😂
I wonder what else will be comming in terms of damascus knives in the near future 😏 i heard rumors about something named Project Odin🤔🤔
possible 🤔🤔
Danke! Mein Favorit ist der 100er :)
DAMN SON!
Heck yeah!!! My Man!!
DAMN SON! #REDBULL #SPONSOR 🤣
hehehe yeaaah!! 🤟🏻
make a Damascus steal folding knife or cleaver or just a regular kitchen knife
maybe!
Mega Steakmesser Set
:D
All I have is a 25 pound little giant hammer would that be good enough to try and make Damascus?
Sure!
Just make smaller billets
i made a lot of billets by hand only!
wieder moi a geiles video
danke!
Hope Redbull will call you soon bro,
f***** nice videos too.
haha thanks bro :D
DAMN SON, nice ROCK PATTERN. Cool beard, but I'm still better looking 😁
you made my day bro 🙌🏻🔥❤️
Damn son, no orange juice etch? .... i wonder of it works with red bull 🤔
We'll find out ;)
👏👏👏🤜🤛
💪🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Korrekt!!! 100% support.
Did you know, that only the japanese and the arabs in the city of damascus did have the knowledge and the expertise to make damascus, thats why this kind of steel is called that way (Duh!!!). And real damascus has to be folded and not stacked. the japanese folded their katanas like a gajillion time to make them SUPERSTRONK.
and also: regardless of how bad the initial steels are, damascus has the magical ability to make the perfect blades. they are sharp forever, no matter how the knife is abused. No matter the needed property, damascus has it!!!
well, lol
200 layers...how about a kukri?
again? already made 3 😄
@@MartinHuber_Knives how about something curved, like what was in the Lord of the Rings films?
@@jeronimojaxon In terms of Lord of the Rings...a Video we are working on could make you happy very soon ;)
@@MartinHuber_Knives had another idea for the 200 layer. Maybe a kopesh or a machete?
Sooo easy 1k euro :D
I'd call easy something else.
Whole project took nearly 4.5 days xD
+ the leathersheaths cost me a load of money
If i'd do my regular knifemaking job, i'd make way more :'D
