I've been kind of binge watching your videos and you have no idea how much I wish you were close by!!! I need you!! I love your videos and advice!! Thank you!!
Um, everywhere is overwhelming for me. Left my emotionally abusive husband 6 years ago and finally starting to unpack more things that I just couldn't back then. My chronic pain slows me down, but the more I see get done, the more motivation I have to go on. In my basement atm, watching different vids of yours to keep me on track. 😉😁🌹 While watching I am sitting in a chair trying to sort through some of this stuff and purge/organize. 💖
That is awesome!!!!!!! You are amazingly strong - I'm so proud of you for having the strength to leave that situation.... this "stuff' has nothing on you. You've got this!!!!! Please let me know how it goes!!!!
My struggle area is the whole house. We bought a house in March 2019, we moved two houses into one. There is a lot of purging that I did when we moved, but it was nowhere near what needs to be purged. I literally am going through two full houses of stuff, mind you online one house of stuff is mine. I love to purge and get rid of stuff. I just don't have the motivation to go through 15 yrs of my own stuff. I spend 10 yrs on Active Duty, which means I literally moved every year for 7 years .. it was crazy! Every move we packed up everything, moved and I never really unpacked it all, just the basic essential stuff. I also accumulated a TON of stuff. I started with my craft room purging anything I don't use, won't use or am done using. It felt great and really helped foster creativity. Now I just need to do that to every single room in the house as well as the garage and basement. I know how to get organized, I used to help people (much like you do, only I didn't have a full-blown business) I just need the motivation or My Clutter Fairy to visit lol... Thanks for sharing your struggles.
Wow! Merging two households is really hard. Just focus on one box a day.... And don't worry about 'where' things will go yet... just get things sorted into categories. This will help you get a better idea of how much you have and how much space you need. Then put away your favorites FIRST - the rest..... goes to donations! I'm here whenever you need encouragement!!! 🌺
This is very helpful. I realize I need to purge a lot of old sheets and pillowcases. They are just taking up space and we never use them; we wash the ones that are already on the bed and put them back on!
I am in the process of selling my condo and planning the move...I've been up sooo many nights fretting the "let go of grandma's sugar bowl I NEVER use and whether or not to keep it...I found your decluttering kitchen videos today and I have to say THANK YOU! I now feel free to let go without the guilt and worry!!
We are a family of 6, with 4 teens and dishes stacking up was a real problem, so we keep our dinning room table set up and everyone has their own set of dishes and after they use their dishes they have to wash and put back on the table. Of course we do have a small set for company use only, but it made such a difference in keeping the kitchen clean and also at the same time training the kids for when they eventually move out on their own!
I absolutely LOVE that idea!!! I've thought about doing that - and color coding our bathroom towels! No more, "who left the wet towel on the floor?!?!?". Thanks for the great idea!
Hello from Dallas (HFD). I used to collect Green Depression .glass. I sold it all when I moved from Iowa to Dallas 25 years ago. I loved going to auctions to buy it. I do miss it, but, I moved as a single person and it made sense at the time. Nice to see your pink collection.
I love it so much. I've been forcing myself to use it more often! No sense in 'saving it' for special days. This year has reminded me that everyday is special.

I love your you tube channel as you are so like a ‘normal’ person. The things I struggle with is in my bedroom I have a chest of drawers that doubles as a ‘I don’t know where to put this stuff’ cupboard top! And in my kitchen there’s a cupboard with just rubbish in. Aaaaaah! It’s a bone of contention between us. In the end I will have to hire someone. With my previous leave I ve taken on the painting inside our house but it was tough. I am purging my whole house. I am lucky to have a craft room. But I have way too much stuff. I made a vowel to just not buy anything. But white cardstock. I must used what I have. This year I made 1000 cards and they were send out the door. During this PLANDEMIC, I make cards for a senior center to lift their spirits.
That is SUCH a great idea!!!!! This is the perfect time to use up those items we've been 'waiting' to use and put a smile on someones face. Thanks for all that you've done for others 💙
I love this video so much as I am a labeler nut! What I would like to know is what is the black line around your large jars that seems to go under the label? I think that is so cute!
I love the way your Domino blends in with your couch LOL. I need to start minimizing. It's just me and I have more dishes than I need. Thanks again for the encouragement.
Thank you please keep the videos coming I am overwhelmed at the moment and to taking picture thing is working and I'm very good idea the only thing is is that I have to do stuff by myself and I have no help but I'm going 2 take one little portion at a time and chop it down. ThankU So Much keep the Videos coming! You're the Best!😊
My biggest problem room is my craft, sewing and catch all room. Your video on the craft room is how I found you. I am actually going through stuff while I listen.
Thank you so much for starting this series. January - tis the season! My goal over this year is to declutter. I've had kids move out and back, renters move in and out, stuff in storage, stuff rebought, stuff brought back out of storage...I'm working on decluttering this year!My biggest problem is that I finally 'had' a whole CRAFT room!!!! Then my oldest son came home to 'couch surf'...TWO YEARS AGO. He's on the autism spectrum and it's hard to work around his...personality, but I'm trying to get my house decluttered, and shift my crafting area out of what is now his bedroom (that he won't let me in - and it's GROSS), to the living room. I don't have enough shelving, I want it too look nice, as everyone who comes in will see it. But, I'm still just working on other areas of my house, sneaking up on the craft supplies: Quilting, simple sewing projects, a tiny bit of jewelry ( that sometimes crosses over to other craft embellishments), scrapbooking, art journaling, and Kindness Rock Painting. Lately, I've been thinking about squeezing my living room furniture (couch and love seat) into the dining room area, with the DVD/TV screen, and pulling the big dining room table out to the craft area, making the whole living room JUST a craft room. You asked! (LOL) Best wishes to you, and I'm looking forward to any and all tips and inspiration.
Do 2 things: 1. Take a before picture.... and 2. Use a timer. Setting the amount of time you spend on a difficult area helps greatly! And be ruthless. Especially with craft items; which are pretty easy to replace if you need them later. When it gets too overwhelming, take a break... take a deep breath... and then look at where you started in that before picture. You've got this!
3/15/19....Just "discovered" you/ your videos this a.m.....& I'm binging thru your series right now. So difficult to collect thru the yrs + add a new "item" to collect every yr or so....I have Starbucks mugs, angels, dogs, license plates since my 1st car @ 15, clowns, roosters, & a few other collections. I have no family or friends to leave my collections to + I have purged/decluttered 4 times in the past 6-7 yrs----1st to retire & move from a 4 bedroom house to a central FL retirement community where my rescue dog & I live in a small house with all my lovely items. I even have a COLLECTION of 15 & 18 gal plastic bins with tight fitting lids from all the items I moved/ decluttered/saved all wrapped safely + labeled + put list of contents & pix inside each bin+ have neatly stacked/organized along a wall in my FL room. Not to mention the few items from each collection that I have on display in my home. So I have downsized/decluttered/ donated + sold + given to friends but still saved/kept a lot b/c I enjoy my items + I have fond memories of how/when I found/was given each item. I wish I had seen your videos before I started collecting & later downsizing....but better now than NEVER! As for your Domino, I had a dal named dee dee Diana for years along with her "foster mom" Potpourri, a black standard poodle who tried to raise her as a poodle! AND I have a collection of both dals + poodles among all my "dog" collectables!
I love this..we are buying our forever home and I have to pare down and get rid of things I've held on to for 'emotional' reasons. Thank you for your tips!!
You can only control YOUR areas.... and HOPE that it catches on. I have several clients that have spouses who do not want to de-clutter and organize. We work only on what THEY can control.... Their side of the bed, their side of the closet, drawers, desk, etc. And remind your self that you love them.... often. ;)
That's what I was doing! I kept re-organizing. It really comes down to making room for your favorite and most used things. It's life-changing. Good luck, and thanks for watching!
Just found your channel and i love the way you tackle the clutter and i have several rooms that need decluttering including my craft room/catch all room. Cant wait to try and tackle these rooms. Your right though its hard and i tend to talk myself out of getting rid of things. The biggest excuse that i use is that “i may need it down the road”. Wish me luck because i am definitely going to need. Thanks for sharing.
This is my whole house! I walk in and my whole body tenses up and I can't breath. Laundry, clutter, stuff.... every where! But I cant get through 1 area without the kids destroying another part of the house.... I just want to scream
Enjoy the kids. They are little for a very short time.... and then your house can be beautiful again. Stay on top of what makes you the most crazy. 💜💜💜
My LOL from this video was, “Oh, I want to keep this as a souvenir.” Then you said, “No, you don’t.” 😄. Thanks for the inspiration to get rid of unnecessary items that are cluttering living space.
My home is a single wide mobile home. I start to declutter and I have a bigger mess. My problem is storage...I don’t have any place or I am just not seeing the possibilities.
Are you using furniture pieces that double as storage?? Every piece you have should be adding storage that you can easily access. Storage under bed, Sofa or side tables should be providing storage. In such a small place, I would not get many tall bookcases, or you will feel surrounded by your things - so try and create as much hidden storage as you can down low. You can send me pics for suggestions at CallClutterFairy@gmail.com
I just discovered your videos. I think I may actually be able to do some of these things. My description has been I can’t see the trees for the forest. Some of it has to go!
Let me know if you get stuck!!!! It is surprising how good it actually feels once you do start letting things go. Allows for you to really enjoy what you have.
I laughed when you called your dog, Dominoe! I realized that he was sitting on the couch and blended right in. Love your thought process about why and how to declutter and organize as it helps me to think clearly about my own spaces. I live in Japan and spaces are small.
@@TheCraftyOrganizer , you are a godsend. I have so much clutter bcus i have so many clothes and shoes and even tho i purged its still overwhelming. I used to be a fashionista and i still have clothes and shoes with tags. I want to sell them but most of those places are scams. They pay you cents for your items and sell it for $20/30. 😠. My next struggle is no space. Im a crafter and creator and i live in an apartment and my son wint leave so i can use the extra room for my office Lol. I have a basement but its past capacity since im now disabled and cant go down there anymore. I plan on renting a truck and selling at the worlds largest flea market this year that my town hosts 2x a yr. But, being disabled makes it a tad more challenging. I'm starting to feel a lil better pain wise so, fingers crossed i get to do it this yr. NORRINE, HELP! I too have items i kept to pass on and now that i know my son dosent want them im ready to get rid of them.
I love this concept. I have been recognizing how often I just use the same dish and silverware as well as the same pot. Especially since I have been cooking in my Instapot. Same with my clothing. I wear my favorites over and over and not always choosing from “all I have”. I am well over beyond my SPACE!!
The clothing is what started this!!!! I absolutely wear the same few pieces.... so I got rid of all the rest! I want to try the Instapot. Is it just a faster crock pot?
Hi! I'm new to your channel & so glad I found you! We just moved into a house we inherited (from my husband's family member who unfortunately passed away)...along with all her belongings. We got together with family and divided alot of things, and donated some items too. My problem is my husband wants to keep so many things for the sake of keeping them. It's a tiny house. For example, he wants to keep all the VHS movies. We don't have a VCR and we stream our movies. Its almost a year since she passed away and we haven't unpacked all of our own belongings yet. I want to respect his feelings and preserve her precious memories (she was a very special lady) but at the same time we need to be able to utilize our space. 2 bedrooms and most of the basement are so filled with boxes we can't see the floor. I need help 💜. I am pretty good at organizing but this is a tiny home & he won't let me get rid of unnecessary things. I feel like I'm drowning. I love your ideas, especially the kitchen. I did manage to cut down on our dishes that we kept in the cupboards but theres 2 more sets of dishes in boxes right now. Grr! I also love how you put the dresser in the livingroom for storing those items.
That's a tough one. I'm glad you are being sensitive to your husband... Maybe a 'revisit' date can be set. Not a get rid of date, but one where in 6-12 months the two of you can discuss how important keeping those thing still are. Until then, I would get really creative - can you access/store in attic space? Are you utilizing under bed and under couch spaces? Are there any doorways where you can add a shelf above and store things in pretty boxes?
@@TheCraftyOrganizer wow! Fabulous ideas! I have space under my bed. Thanks for replying 👍🙂 I've been sorting all weekend after watching several of your videos, thanks for the motivation 😀
wait------- I liked how you put your special books in a drawer on their sides... Think'n....think'n......I love a LOT of books, but the kids see it as clutter, sooo... Maybe I can put my large drawer sized wicker basket on one shelf and put the smaller books in it. Might be easier in the eyes. Hmmmmm....
@@TheCraftyOrganizer lol, yes, The basket is overflowing with everyday schoolbooks on the floor next to my library chair. Soooo, I decided that THAT looks messy, and am going to purchase a 2or3 shelf, wheeled cart for those things. I just happened to work an extra two days this week and can afford it, lol. Then, I will use THAT basket (I'm assuming it fits the shelf!)for the bookshelf that irritates everyone but myself. Lol. (On 'company days' I can wheel my full cart of homeschool books into my office, out of site.)
I took you advice today. My husband and I filled the back of our utility car with rubbish and threw it out. Tomorrow is getting the donation items out of the house. Starting to feel a little lighter.
I sometimes go in my front room which is my living room/office/craft area and get overwhelmed by all the different things I need to purge and organize.
Oh, Michaela... That's all I have been doing in my garage for the last several weeks. It's ok. Try and come up with a plan of where the things you don't want can get donated first. Then just set that timer! For me - it was what to do with all of the ruined things from the flood. Once I finally arranged for a trash pick-up, it was smooth sailing. Keep me posted! :)
Having a large house does not necessarily help with clutter issues. I just have more space to put stuff. Since my kids moved out I have 2 bedrooms and a huge bonus room upstairs where I can put stuff and it does not affect my daily life. Then I go in one of the rooms when we have guests or whatever and I am horrified at the stuff that is piled up.
I love you you are really a great person and you're funny and beautiful and I just want to let you know keep it up I found you and I've been doing trying to follow what you say to do I'll clean out and stuff is very slow process but I'm I'm I'm trying to get there and I thank you I do that the long I'll look at it in me like a close the door
Don't give up!!! Slow, steady, and you will get there. I'm glad you found my channel too! Let me know if you are struggling with anything specific... I'll try and make suggestions for you.
Do you have before pictures of your dresser? I have been saving dishes and am trying younger rid of some of them. I managed to get rid of quite a few and then one Sat my husband showed up with the ugliest lasting white microwave
Spoke Christmas dishes, no family members want them. I don’t want strangers coming to my house as if I list on marketplace. Also some glassware of my mothers….what to do with that? It’s on display but it’s not mine it was hers. A dilemma….thanks
Perhaps a local consignment shop? The Spode Christmas design is still VERY popular!!! Otherwise, list and meet at a very public place and have someone with you.
beautiful small house! I recently moved from a medium size house w garage etc to an apartment w no storage. Key difficulties for me are tons of photos and framed pics , and my parents memorabilia which is precious to me but cumbersome in many plastic bins. Any ideas?
Thank you ! I been thinking of all the glass s i have and 2 sets of dishs and its just me. I wish i knew rule of thumb of how many to keep,i think i will have one set. And get rid of alot glass. Great viedo. My over whelm room, is suppose to be my office, i been struggling with back issues so have to do it slowly. Its a catch all room
Love the idea of repurposing the dresser! Am going to apply😊😊 oh, and the kitchen cabs...yes! Will be revisiting that process again. My son has my bad habits of holding on and I'm engaging him in the process of letting go😁
my overwhelming space is a bedroom in our apartment, my husband's company moved us to India for what was supposed to be one year, since it was so long we gave up our rented 3br house w/a full garage a storage company came in and packed up all of our belongings and put them in storage, they did not label one box, so we have no idea what's in them or what room they belong to,while there, I had a stroke, so we came home 6 months early and scrambled to find a place to live, my DH found a good size apt w/2beds 2 baths for us and our daughter when the storage company delivered our stuff we stuck the boxes wherever we could, mostly in the 2nd bedroom, as our daughter went off to college, we got through the boxes in our living spaces bit by bit, but the bedroom is still packed w/my mobility challenges it's iimpossible for me to make progress in there alone, so he loads up the kitchen table and I go through them tossing things into boxes as I go (keep, ebay, recycle, toss, kitchen, bath, bed, craft, etc) it's working but it's slow any ideas on how to speed this up much appreciated
It sounds like you are doing the best you can with all things.... my only other suggestion is see if another friend or family member can come help. One more thing... give yourself a HUGE hug! You are dealing with so many challenges that most people don't have. If you come across a particular difficult area, send me a picture and I will see if I have any suggestion. Please keep me posted. . xoxo
WOW, my prayers are with you ❤️ I know this was awhile ago, but I’m just reading this. I do hope things are making progress for y’all 😀. Talk about life challenges, I give you KUDOS for your accomplishments thus far!!!👏👏👏 like Norrine said a HUG for you 😀😀😀 I do think the approach you’ve taken is fantastic, keep plugging along. Until next time Gods Blessings ❤️😀
Oh I so love this channel. It is as if I was directed to it, at a time in my life that was needful of direction, and that was sympathetic to what happens as a result of being 65, just retired, and overwhelmed with possessions! Chaos. I wanted to be able to breathe in our home and I couldn't. You are my support, my muse and my directional beacon to make sense of my feelings. The soundest advice that you give is to work through it in SMALL time increments. TFS, Norrine. Queen Bee from the Great State of Texas.

ThankU So Much keep the Videos coming! You're the Best!😊
I know it's hard.... It's really important to look at what you have achieved - NOT what you still have to do
My biggest problem room is my craft, sewing and catch all room. Your video on the craft room is how I found you. I am actually going through stuff while I listen.
:) Thanks for listening.
You asked! (LOL)
Best wishes to you, and I'm looking forward to any and all tips and inspiration.
3/15/19....Just "discovered" you/
your videos this a.m.....& I'm binging thru your series right now.
I even have a COLLECTION of 15 & 18 gal plastic bins with tight fitting lids from all the items I moved/
decluttered/saved all wrapped safely + labeled + put list of contents & pix inside each bin+ have neatly stacked/organized along a wall in my FL room.
Not to mention the few items from each collection that I have on display in my home.
So I have downsized/decluttered/
donated + sold + given to friends but still saved/kept a lot b/c I enjoy my items + I have fond
memories of how/when I found/was given each item.
I wish I had seen your videos before I started collecting & later downsizing....but better now than
NEVER!
As for your Domino, I had a dal named dee dee Diana for years along with her "foster mom" Potpourri, a black standard poodle who tried to raise her as a poodle!
AND I have a collection of both dals + poodles among all my "dog"
collectables!
Awww! Love that you had a Dal too.

Thanks for the inspirational videos
I love this..we are buying our forever home and I have to pare down and get rid of things I've held on to for 'emotional' reasons. Thank you for your tips!!
Good luck!!!!! Let me know if you get stuck xoxoxo
I love you videos. Love your depression glass.
Thank you so much!!!!
How do you purge and declutter when you have a spouse that is a collector.
You can only control YOUR areas.... and HOPE that it catches on. I have several clients that have spouses who do not want to de-clutter and organize. We work only on what THEY can control.... Their side of the bed, their side of the closet, drawers, desk, etc. And remind your self that you love them.... often. ;)
I struggle in my craft room. I’m constantly re-organizing because nothing is working. Looking forward to learning some tips and tricks.
It's one of my excuses too. But if its something I can easily replace - It's a goner! :) Thanks for the comment and watching! :)
LOL!!! Glad I could make you laugh AND declutter! GOAL!
Kitchen clearing cubboards taking tins out and other stuff that h don't use I take to the chatery shops it's amazing what hides y in cubboards.
my kitchen is my pain in the
Sorry, changed my mind. TMI.
Well, now I'm just curious! LOL
Thank you for that tip. I have not used what I have for storage as maybe I could. Thanks! Love your videos!!
Lol! He matches my decor, AND I love him... he's a keeper. ;)
I thought the same thing. He blended in with the sofa 🙂
Thanks for replying 👍🙂
I've been sorting all weekend after watching several of your videos, thanks for the motivation 😀
wait------- I liked how you put your special books in a drawer on their sides... Think'n....think'n......I love a LOT of books, but the kids see it as clutter, sooo... Maybe I can put my large drawer sized wicker basket on one shelf and put the smaller books in it. Might be easier in the eyes. Hmmmmm....
😆 Love that, "Think'n....think'n......" too cute! Let me know if you do that!
That is so awesome!!!!
Why don't you put your depression glass out in thoat black bookcase where your dining room table is sitting?
I switch it out pretty often... Spring is when I usually have it out.
Was that a paper towel holder on the top of your refrigerator?
I got it from a boutique 15 years ago! I love it - but it's too big for my counters. :(
I found you as well on your craft video, and love your approach to decluttering. I look for to seeing more of your videos.
I did... but I've redone it AGAIN! LOL I will get a video up of it as soon as I can.
I found you through your craft room video as well . I love you home, its beautiful! I just subscribed to your channel. =)
I did the same thing!!! 😁
Omg I love this I probably have 15 bottles of sport water bottles ( new)
beautiful small house!
