The Leica bug stated with a strong desire for the Leica M6. I looked long and hard at Leica M3, because of the cost savings. However, I picked up the Canon P hoping it would satisfy my desire for Leica. It did, for a short while. Once I finally purchased my first Leica, I went with the M3. A couple of years later and I purchased the Leica Q2 monochrom. That fed my thirst for about a year. That is until I laid eyes on the new Leica M11-P. I knew I had to have it! Shortly after that purchase, I also picked up the Leica M6 reissue. I'm loving all of them. If you love rangefinder cameras, I think you'll love them too.

There's a Leica store near me, but I was too poor to go inside. Now I have money, and I'm too afraid to go inside.
😂
You are a wise one. There are lots of other rabbit holes out there... 😊
@@sonofoneintheuniverse so true!
Photography is not about fear.
This is trully funny, same thing here.
Good to see that I'm not the only one. It's not our fault. I blame those influencers on RUclips. First it was fountain pens, then watches and now cameras. Collecting stamps when I was a kid was so much cheaper.
I also blame those damn RUclipsrs 😆
Stay away from the airplane influencers...
I collected fountain pens (some very expensive limited editions) over a 15 year period. I now only have a few faves to write with as I sold all the rest (some of those LEs for hefty profits) to feed my Leica appetite. No regrets!
@@frand6822 I was totally unaware of the pen world. I’m scared to look into it now 😆 another rabbit hole I’d fall into.
Ive spent the last 6 years trying to replicate the fuji x100v system. In all honesty ive spent more than 3x the msrp for the x100v doing that. I’ve given up on it. I also want an M6. I’m not going to spend anything on film cameras, just gonna save up for the one I want.
How it went for me was. Leica Q2 -> Leica M11 -> Leica MP... It's a drug.
That it is! I thought once I got my dream cameras I'd stop looking, but now I'm looking at the M5. The dreaming continues I guess.
Haha my path was similar... Leica Q2M was the gateway for me. I ended up with the Leica M11-P 😂
Went from Q2 (sold)>Q2M>M3>M11>Q3. Waiting for the M11D😊
Had the Q2, loved the images, didn't like the EVF, sold it. Bought an M10-R thinking I'd bought my forever camera. Then an M6 same age I am in great condition became available... I'm not going to buy any more Leica stuff now! ... okay maybe a 28mm elmarit-m... or maybe a 50 f2... It is a drug.
M8 > ME (M9 variant) > M9M > M3 > M11M - I still have all of them except the M8.
I think we can all agree that once you buy a monochrome digital camera, you have a addiction problem , lol.
Indeed! Hahaha 😂
Agreed. I love my M10M.
I have two.
I resisted for over year until a “friend” loaned me his M3, and then I bought it. Now I have it and an M7. We’re still very good friends.
I’m at the watching videos and thinking “how much could I get for my kidneys” stage 😂
I have to tell myself it's an investment lol
Good luck. Resistance is futile
Excellent video. I resisted going down the 'Leica' rabbit hole for many years. I was almost 60 when I purchased my first. A 1954 Leica IIIF. Once I fired it off and developed the film, I was hooked. 1931 Leica I, Leica M2, MA, SL-2S to name a few. Matter of fact, during the Earth Day celebration this pass weekend, I was using my 1984 M6. You are not alone my friend.
Thanks awesome! I've been looking strongly at the Leica IIIG... really all of them, even the Leica 1. I'm sure I'll end up with at least one of them in the near future. Which would you recommend? I love the original but like some of the more "modern features" of the later years. Thanks you!
@camerafusion the IIIG from what I heard is a good camera, but never had the opportunity yet to photograph with one. But I tend to look at the pre-war cameras. I'm a bit of a romantic, so much so, with Leica's century mark of selling its first camera next year, I'm nursing the notion of seeing if I can get even an older Leica than my 1931.
Great video thanks for sharing. I turned 50 last year and decided to purchase a Leica Q3 absolutely love it.
The Q3 has caught my eye. I want all of them, I've got serious issues lol
That’s how it starts Q = gateway drug.. Q2 with an M11 and a 50mm plus 90mm is a very light and compact complete kit. 😈
Yup ! The addiction starts when you pick one up and hold it. Nothing feels like them.
Agreed!
Good warning. I have a pair of old Zeiss ikon contax ii rangefinders with a full set of lenses and still feel tempted for a iiig or an M-A
Yep, Be careful 😆 I’ve collected more than I can possibly use.
Wow, impressive. I was also in that rabbit hole once. Started with the M6, then 3 different variants of M6s, then got curious with the older M3, M2, M5, IIIf, IIIg, R8, CL, then finally the ultimate black paint MP. Then I said what the hell, give their digital camera a shot, the M10. But I’ve been able to resist any temptation to try the Q series or the SL series. So far…
🤩 Damn!!!
Life is short. Glad that you were able to find the gear that brings you joy😊
So True! Thanks Jeffrey!
Nice content! Really interesting to hear about your Leica journey haha. Enjoy shooting! 🙌
Thanks so much!
I owned a Leica M2 more than 50 years ago. I sold it so I would have money to make sculptures. About 10 years ago I picked up photography again. I bought an Olympus M-1 film camera. The photographs it produces are as sharp and well defined as the Leica. The modern Leica philosophy is to make a nostalgic camera that few can afford; whereas the Japanese philosophy is to make something every bit as good--or much better--that everyone can afford. Leica has become a fetish that can never be satisfied: it leads nowhere. A camera is to take photographs, not to be photographed itself. I felt the itch you described a while ago, so I picked up my M-1, looked at it, and took a few photographs. That is the secret to photography. That being said, I bought an Olympus EM-5 a few years ago over the Nikons and Canons because it was a beautiful camera. There is nothing wrong with physical attraction as long as it leads to photographs. Lusting for a fetish machine you can show off will not make you a photographer. I love my camera; I love my film; now all I have to do is put my butt there and press the shutter release.
Well said. I myself have somehow become a camera collector. I've even ventured into starting my own camera company called "Kingpin Cameras" making luxury pinhole cameras and grips. I have a lot of cameras, some expensive, some that cost less than $50 and love them all. Each has something special they offer. Maybe it's just the nostalgia, idk. With that, Leica has done for cameras what Rolex has for watches. Our phones tell perfect time and there's no real need for a luxury watch, but life is about more than living with only what we need. Brands like Leica and Rolex offer something special, something to look forward to and strive for. They produce product that that make you feel good. I think that's what we pay for. I'm thankful companies like Leica are alive and well.
@@camerafusion You're right. It is about feeling good. Did you ever see the work of Hong Kong photographer? He did street photography almost exclusively with a Rolleiflex 3.5 A. He talks about the relationship between himself and the camera. Nice website of yours. Could you make a grip for an Olympus M-1 film camera (same camera as the OM-1)?
q2m -> q2 reporter -> m11p
Just great to work with. In my kit displaced Fuji x, complements Nikon z for different subjects / purposes. What a great time to be a photographer.
That it is! I can’t call myself a photographer but I aspire to be good at it someday. I love it!
For me, a Leicaflex SL from 1968 got me hooked. Then I started to buy vintage lenses for it. Then I bought a SL2 MOT from 1974. That camera was so nice to handle! Then I had a Nikon D800 for a couple of years but it was too big. And had too many functions for a neanderthal person like me. So I bought a M240. And then, an M9. Then it escalated with lenses; summicrons, summiluxes 35 old, new, a summilux 75, and then I got an adapter for M-R so I could get a 60 elmarit macro (fun). Then I bought a pristine M6 0.85 from 1991 circa. It stayed in the box mostly, I realised I had become too eager to use film again. Then I had to get an M10. Today I still use the gear, but I have become sober of my leicaholism, which is the disease I think the Camera Fusion guy is describing. It’s hard to cure.
Leicaholism lmao
I am well aware of the rabbit hole. I went into the Leica store because my friend from Georgia needed a strap. Next thing I know I had a Leica Q, then a Q2 then a Q2 Monochrome then a M10p and finally ended up trading my Q and Q2 Monochrome for my M11P. I don’t regret any of my purchases. Now I walk in to the Leica store and I am greeted like an old friend I think that is a bad thing. lol
Great story!
They should make a pill for our condition. 😬
🤣
in 1 month from you preorder of the X100VI, you bought the M6 and M11p! Good happy birthday to you!
I picked up the m11p in Late December so ill just call that one a Christmas present to myself 😂
My first Leica which I still own the Leica Q2 Reporter. Then I got the M11 and then ultimately sold a few cameras and got the 2022 M6.
We have some of the same cameras. How do you like the new m6? I’m still on my first roll of film.
@@camerafusion Man, that camera is dangerous. Just the process of shooting film is fun. It took me a while to go through my first roll as well. You realize how because of digital you don’t take enough time with your photography process.
Awesome, you deserve it for your 50th! I'm hoping to have a new Leica MP by my 65th birthday next February. Now I'm having a problem picking out a lens. I love both the 35mm and the 50mm. I'll be retiring from wedding photography so I plan on lots of street photography and portraits. Which one to get, lol!
Thank you! Same to you! I happen to love 35mm and 50mm too. I love street photography but I’m far too shy to do it properly 😆
Goodness!
They've got him.
Oh boy!
I had a pair of Leica M6s in the 90s, one silver, one black. I played with them for about a year then sold them. I never looked back. I haven't touched one since. I do have to admit that the 35 Summicron-M was the best lens I've ever used.
You had two M6's? You must have loved them. What made you get rid of them?
@@camerafusion Actually I didn’t love them. No doubt they were superbly built but I could never get on with the rangefinder aspect. I learned that rangefinder cameras weren’t for me. I did love the 35 Summicron-M lens though. As great as my Nikon Z glass is, this 1990s Leica lens was much better. Not so much sharpness, but bokeh.
Good video. My first range finder was also the Canon P (great camera by the way), but I still longed for the Leica, so I acquired a mint M4-P. Looking to get a re-issued M6 in a year or so. It's a sickness lol.
Thanks 🙏🏻 I knew I couldn’t be the only one. It’s definitely an addiction.
Been there done that. 🤣
After a year of pondering, I pulled the trigger and bought a M240, then I bumped into the M246. After that I came across this beautiful M10P. Then my analog itch started… From there it was down the rabbit hole. Resistance was futile. Fortunately, the M240 and M246 found new owners.
😂 I’m not alone!
"A thing of beauty is a joy forever" as the poet said :got an M8 when it came out -am still using it !
two lenses 35 and 50 sensor size translates this to a 47 -say 50 ish and a 66.5 -say 65 ish 😅!
Renders great in black and white !
Leica lenses are superb - cameras are very robust and very simple.
Suppose this could become addictive ? - I have other cameras all film -Olympus XA and Canon AE1 .
all in use all working !
No more cameras 3 is even too much in one lifetime !
Not everybody thinks like me of course - I think this is ok !😂
You're probably correct about 3 cameras is more than enough. I think I've got around 50 or more and because of that, a lot of them are not getting used.
So, so very true! Been on a similar journey over the past 6 years. Now, 3 digital Leicas, 3 film Leicas, and an array of lenses 😅
Do you have a favorite out of the 6?
@@camerafusion yeah, that would be my black MA combined with the black chrome 50mm Summilux. A beautiful combination and joy to use!
Im currently at an M8 and M4 ….. looking for an m9 right now. A nice 50 Summicron rigid would go nice on your M6. You also might wanna get an adapter so your screw mount can get used on your M’s …… you’re on a roll!
Nice collection! I just picked up some adapters for my ltm lenses. I’m thinking about the 50 Summicron too but I have an m mount 50mm Zeiss so it’s hard for me to justify it. I know I could sell it, but so far I’ve had a hard time letting go of gear. Ive bypassed being a camera collector and went straight to hoarder 😂
@@camerafusion I’ve got the Zeiss Planar 50mm f2 ….. like yourself, I really can’t justify a Summicron ….. I really love that Zeiss …. Hella bang for your buck
You did the RIGHT thing !!
The idea of "going down the Leica rabbit-hole" triggers me. I used German rangefinders since I was 14. At 58, I sold a spectacular "Leica Kit." (M, M monochrome but mostly GLASS.) Leica glass was always the key for me. Almost all of the lenses I owned sold for what I had paid for them new MANY years before or more. A few sold for far MORE than I paid. (The Nocti I was able to buy at a discount because the digital body I purchased from Leica literally had a melting sensor, That lens was amazing, I sold it for few thousand more than the discounted price I paid.)
There are two things to know before descending into the Leica Rabbit hole : (1) Leica glass is leaps and bounds beyond anything I have experienced ever, There is no tech that can do justice to Leica glass. (2) Leica camera bodies use tech so far behind other companies, they squander Leica lens quality.
Now Leica markets cameras like luxury items for the Uber-rich. No thanks. Some of my strongest work was done in post-Katrina New Orleans. No one ever had an inclination that $30k was in my hands for the taking..
I think that's one of the beauties of Leica, you almost never loose money. It's like buying a Rolex, kind of an investment or at least that's what I tell myself.
@@camerafusion if you are playing with film in 2024, you are a rich person with an expensive hobby. If you shoot digital, I have never found an equal to Leica glass. Optical perfection, spectacular build, quality and finish. Bad news? Leica camera bodies sell in the $8000 range. An $8000 Leica body is technically comparable to a $500 no-name body on delivery. You can sell your lenses for about what you paid. You take a savage beating on the $8K plus camera wasted on crap tech befitting a $500 camera body. Leica should double lens prices and lower camera prices to almost nothing. They should say "if you buy this glass all you need is a GREAT sensor." The sensor need only exploit the quality of the lens. The body need only allow the user to set the speed and aperture. If the body can adjust ISO to make the photographer's speed and aperture selection works, the camera could sell for $2K and would be better than any current offering.
Dude these are literally the same ones I have! Love the M6 and M11-P. I also have the Leica Mini Zoom for that fun flash look.
Very cool!
Oh man. I feel for you! Leica is a justifiable addiction. My first was the D-Lux 4. Then I bought a D-Lux 109. I was happy with them until a friend loaned me his MP-240. After a month I bought one with a Summichron 35mm. That was great until I traded the body for the M10p. It's a great camera and lens for many applications. I use it for street pictures.
As if that wasn't enough, I then bought a a Q2 reporter.
I think I'm done. At least I hope so.
Thanks for your insightful video. I've subscribed to learn more from you.
Great collection story!!! Thanks so much for the Sub!!! I greatly appreciate it!!!
M240 here..... Don´t know which one will come next!
But there will be one right?
Great video. Maybe someday for me. Those cameras are in universe by themselves.
Thanks Frank! I appreciate you watching and commenting. And with your photography skills, I can only image, because you make better images with pinholes and plastic cameras than I could ever make on any of these. Maybe someday I'll get there.
@@camerafusion Thanks Tony, It's a continual journey, We just have to remember, keep shooting , keep learning and have fun doing so.
Great video. I have a Leica Q2M and understand how you feel. Have you had problems with your M11 P freezing as has been widely reported by others. I am currently thinking about getting a M11 Monochrom.
Thanks! Yeah, the m11-p did freeze up on me… day one! I swapped memory cards and I have not had a problem since. Not sure if that was the problem, but it’s been working great.
I started down that rabbit hole in 2016 with a used M7 and 90mm Summicron. Can confirm, the rabbit hole goes forever. (And the 35mm steel rim summilux is one of the best lenses of all time, original or reissue)
I've picked up a few vintage lenses but haven't spent much time with them and I only have one modern Leica lens... so far but love it and looking forward to more down the road.
I started on the soft stuff . 2f , 3a , 3b 3a , realised I wasn't getting the same hit anymore. So I bought an M3 with Summercron 50mm lens , but the craving got worse. I thought if I bought an M240 it would go away. But now I'm looking at Q videos everyday. I can't stop .I keep thinking just one more and I'll be OK I'M flat broke, my wife is threatening to leave me , I need help to stop. Why is there no Leica Anonymous? Jake E.
🤣 I knew I couldn’t be the only one!
Maybe we should start a society, Leicaholics Anonymous? Jake E .
Great video. I sold my Leica CL and 4 lenses and my X100V. I bought a Leica Q2. I bought a Voigtlander Vito B from a guy in German which is in pristine condition and functions flawlessly.
The X100V had to be hard to let go of?. Love the Q2 and Voightlander too!
Great video! For me, I bought: CL (digital) > Q2 > M240 > MP240. I still have the Q2 and MP240 and now im acquiring lenses (already have 3 Leica lenses, 2 other brands) and looking at joining the world of film.
Nice collection! And welcome to the film world, the more the better.
This warning came way too late! Last summer... went in to a Leica store just to see the exhibition wall... tried to resist trying one out... next thing I knew I was the owner of a M11 and a used Summilux 35... now I long for a M6...
🤣 That’s a Great Story! Luckily I’ve never been in a Leica Store… 😳 It’s RUclipsrs always pushing Leica at me Haha
One day im gonna buy Leica
And that’s how it starts! Go for it!
Nice video, haha! I'm in the same boat. I preordered the X100VI and don't expect it to ship within the next 10 months, so I went ahead and ordered the M6 reissue, which has been my dream camera for so long. What's next? I guess it'll be the M11-D or the MP black paint, lol!
Sounds like me for sure! I’m thinking about the m5 I know people think it’s ugly but I think it’s a work of art, with a few flaws. A few years from now they’ll probably cost a fortune. I’ll definitely be lusting after the M11-D when it comes out.
By the way, do you have insider info on the X100VI? I’ve read if you ordered as soon ass it became available, it should ship soon. I purchased mine from B&H. It does seem fishy that pretty much all the big RUclipsrs have gotten their copies. I can help but wonder if they get served first and is so, I hope to get there someday lol.
I had some red oval Leica decals I got from a guy in Manhattan street. Cool. My cheap camera is now worth $5,000.
I wish it was that easy 😂 I prefer them without the red dot myself.
If I am going to buy a better than a Leica camera, it will be the Nikon S. It is famous as the camera that captured the shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald by Jack Ruby. Not a Canon, not a Leica, but a Nikon replica of a Leica.
Not so sure I’d call that better, but it’s definitely a beautiful camera. And I’d say because it’s a Leica copy… it’s still only a matter of time before you want a REAL Leica 😆
I used Pentax throughout my army life from the SL, SP, ES, ME, MX, LX, 67, 645 and eventually sold the complete system. Then I got a new Leica M6 with 35/90/50mm Noctilux f1 😊. Then eyesight problems focusing, so sold them and got an autofocus Canon EOS 5
Wow!!! 🤩
My rabbit hole was: Leica Q2 -> +M3 -> +MP -> +M10-D
M10-D is high on my list of, I wish I had!
I was Canon P, Leica M4-P, M3, M6, M2. Along the way owned a Contax T3 that I traded for the M2.
Curious how the Canon P compares to the M3 to you? By the way, which model is your favorite out of those M series you have?
The P is definitely the gateway drug of rangefinders. It sits just heavy enough in my hand that the shutter firing doesn’t cause even the slightest wobble in the overall body. The 50mm/1.4 Canon also provides a glimpse of what’s possible with amazing glass.
But when I looked through an M3 finder… wow. It made me realize the P finder is cluttered with too many lines. Plus then the door swings wide open to a world of M mount glass. My M3 is fussy though, it’s been to DAG Camera a couple times with ankle biter issues. Canon P on the other has been trouble free.
The M6 is my favorite if I had to grab only one. Meter is nice, and I had the 135 and 75 mm framelines masked so I can shoot 35 and 50 without other lines present. The M2 is already missing those lines; when I saw that for the first time I wanted the M6 to be the same way.
Btw I still really enjoy the Canons. I find the L1 and L3 both to be great for shooting 35 and 50 focal lengths. They’re even cheaper than a P and really well built, even better than the P imo.
Medium format equivalent gateway drug for me was the… Yashica Mat-124G…
Cheers!
OMG so true! Me: M6 > M-D (Typ 262) > M10P > M5 > M3 > M6 > MP. Not to mention lenses! It’s a lovely illness. Currently only have M10P and MP black paint (which I’ll never sell). Thanks for the vid!
Wow! That’s a lot of them for sure.
Yes the desire started when I saw a Leica Q video. Then I was stupid enough to hold a Leica M11. I am both curious and a little doubtful. The Leicas has some limitations when compared to the Sony A7rV or Hasselblad. Such as only sRGB, limitations in lens choice, think 135 is the largest tele lens.At the same time, I'm moving more and more towards travel and portrait photography and less sports. Then a Leica is tempting. How should an amateur justify this? I get a lot of travel by keeping my old trusty Sony A7iii. Great video, I know the feelings you talk about.
Btw wht lenses do you recommend?
Thank you! I’m a hobbyist photographer myself so I can’t justify any of it other than my love cameras and photography. I still use my Sony A7iii too, but Leica’s are works of art.
For me q2, then SL2-s, sold all my other non Leica gear, Then SL Apo glass, Then M11, now waiting for DHL on 50mm summilux M. All used at least except the Q2. But yes, it goes deep.
Nice collection! I planned on selling all my other gear too. I listed my X100V and X100F but then took down the X100V. I can't bring myself to sell it lol. I love'm all.
Man oh man that sounds familiar.......I saw a guy in the mirror this morning that fell into the same rabbit hole when he retired a few years ago. 🤣
🤣 it’s an easy one to fall into
I have a Leica MP and M2. I sold my Fujifilm X100V last year because it was junk and I am now exclusively film. I started with a 35mm lens, then 28mm, 21mm, 50mm and 90mm for every eventuality. They give me that versatility but also complicates the selection process and adds to the weight. My latest was a 135mm which I have just returned via eBay ( phew!) . It was then I realised I had enough lenses and I'm done. The problem with the 135mm lens was that the frame lines are so small that focusing was really difficult. Also, because the lens is so heavy it was impossible to keep steady so the minimum shutter speed has to be 1/250 which really limited it's use. I mainly shoot landscapes and would be much better off with a zoom lens but that Leica look.... It's hard to beat! Cheers!
X100V... one of my favorite cameras ever lol. What didn't you like about it? I just purchased used 90mm and 135mm. I have not tried it yet.
@@camerafusion The X100V images always came out too dark or highlights overblown no matter what the histogram said.. I was unable to update the software - just crashed. It wouldn't allow me to transfer images to computer- I had to buy a card reader. It was probably faulty. I just gave up on it.I was taking the same shot with film and digital which showed how good Leica lenses are and how the Fuji didn't compare. My 90mm lens is a Minolta f4 which is really good. Good luck with the 135mm -keeping it steady and the high shutter speed needed didn't suit me. Cheers!
No problem, buying a Leica, as I have a wife who would kill me!
I have the Canon P, got it for £70 from Japan, I use Jupiter lenses on them which are great and cheap! that’s my Leica itch scratched!
My Ricoh GR satisfies my stealth street photography need, and it fits in my pocket, although I have cast a few longing glances at the Q series of late!
If I’m going to spend so much money on a camera, it needs to be versatile because I’ll use it for everything from nature, street to astrophotography, so I’ll need a few decent lenses as well, so sorry Leica, you look beautiful, but I could buy a whole arsenal of lenses and a camera for the same price!
lol, I’ve said all the same things to myself.
I started from Leica Q systems > Digital M Body > Film VIntage M Body > SL Body > Instax Film Body …. plus the lure of Leica M Lens Vintage and Modern and Re-Issue model… The Leica Rabbit hole goes deep.
Yes it does! I've purchased 3 vintage lenses just in the past few weeks and the M5 keeps saying, buy me! haha
girlfriend just surprised me with a mp240 + summilux 35 1.4... let the addiction begin haha
What?! She’s a keeper!!!
@@camerafusion lol she definitely is. Most insane gift ive ever gotten by a longgggg shot
For me: an adapted Helios 44 (my first lens more clinical than character), then Voightlander 35mm f/2 Ultron, then Leica m10r, then Voightlander 75 mm f/1.5, then Voightlander 28mm F/2 ….
… then Leica 35mm Summilux close focus
I think/hope the G.A.S. has been satiated.
Until that next thing catches your eye hahaha 😆
Canon P to Canon 7 to Leica iiif to Leica M3 to Leica M10R. All over a three year period. Now I want a “back-up” for the M10R. M11P?
Exactly!!!
Happened to me also. Q2, R5, M3, M6, iif, M2, MP, plus a few Leica lenses. So much for “The Q2 is the only camera I need” 😂
Yes sir! Nice collection there.
… yep… my cabinet has one shelf reserved for a M2, M3, M4-p, M5, M6, M8, M240 all are used for shooting with wonderful Leica lenses; from 21 to 135mm. Different 50mm ;-) - lenses😅🙈 … the other shelves are for Polaroid cameras, bellow 6x9 cameras, different 6x6 cameras … mamiya, Rollei, Hasselblad, kowa, Welta, as well as a nice collection of different 35mm rangefinder and SLR NIKON &Canon FD cameras.
Some digital Nikons as well for certain kinds of work…
But the leicas are the preferably used ones…😂
You sound like me... with a few variations in the cameras haha
M11-P for now, until the M12 comes out
True! 😆
Haha. So true. I have a Q-P and M240 right now. Eyeing an Q2 one/or M10, but fighting the fight! lol
Nice! I know that feeling all too well. I've been fighting the fight for a couple of years now haha.
An SL2-S would suits you better IMHO, bargain value these days
Haha same problem here - Leica addiction 😀
I knew I couldn’t be the only one! 👍
The struggle is real. My path was similar in some respects. Not counting many years of film before digital was a thing, I went from Original X100 ---> Leica Q ---> Q2 and Q2 Monochrom ----> Hasselblad X1DII and then Hassy X2D. Just added the VI as my compact grab and go (but keeping my OG X100 because it's been all over the world with me), and also got a VI for my sweetheart. May get back into film (medium format) with a Mamiya 6 MF, but that's been on the back burner for years so I'm not sure.
Awesome collection! As for Fuji, I have the X100F and X100V and preorder the VI but it has yet to ship. How’s everyone getting there so fast? I literally ordered mine within 3 hours of the pre-release. I always use B&H. Maybe that was a problem here, not sure?!
@@camerafusion Got the first VI by preordering at my local brick and mortar camera shop day before the official announcement, so I was number one on that list and got the first one in. The second was from BH very early on after orders opened.
@@jacquesgude I’m looking forward to getting it. You’ve got two copies?
On the money! Great video.
Much appreciated!!!
@@camerafusion From full Fuji X and GFX to Leica CL, SL2, SL2S, M11M with the M11P and the SL3 on preorder. You know I saw myself in your video. I did abandon the CL for the others and I am willing to part with the SLs for the new one. The foot is deep in....
@@cmolina31 I’ve been eyeballing the SL3. My pockets aren’t that deep, but we’ll see 😂
@@cmolina31 that fuji GFX, yep that one too!
Its so unreasonably expensive here in brazil :((
Any leica is a huge dream
Dreams are what keep us motivated. You'll have one someday. I was not able to afford one at a point in my life.
Yea… i feel your pain. I recently bought the Leica M11P. So… itch not dealt with. About to add the Hasselblad 907X/100. Yep… good to go now…😅
I was eyeing that one too!!!
@@camerafusion Yep. I do love the Leica but if I could only have one?
The Hasselblad wins!
@@SavedbybGrace I haven’t had any of there digital cameras… yet!
I just got a top mint M5 with a 50mm f2 summicron. I'm scared, I'm looking at a Q2 monochrom. This is scary. I already have a bunch of mint nikons film and digital. HELP !
LMAO! Yep, you're in it. I just picked up the M5 a couple of days ago. It's a bit beat up but I got a crazy good deal, I couldn't pass up.
Wish I watched this a couple weeks ago. I think I have a problem lol. Should’ve never touched the M11 at the camera store.
😂
CL (sold), Q2 (sold), Sl2-S (sold), M11, Q3, MP
I’ve seen some of your videos, your collection it’s amazing. You kept the M11, Q3 and MP? Your watch collection is crazy too!
Thanks, I’m keeping Q3, M11, and MP. (But the M11-P looks beautiful too). You look great for 50 yrs old!
@sc1 Thank ya! It’s the lighting lol
Moral of the story is it's way more expensive to buy what you don't really want than what you really do want.
It does seem to work that way sometime.
I got a Q now I’m on to the M3…
It’s addictive! 😆
on the way to find the perfect replacement for a Leica camera, people usually spend way more than they would have if they only just bought a Leica. Of course i am talking about myself and of course i still don't own a modern Ieica
Agreed. I'm definitely in that camp.
Here I am buying a 3rd Soviet rangefinder lens
Which Lenes are you getting? Do you like them and are they rangefinder coupled? I've been looking, still not sure what all is available.
So, I am using those on a Zorki 4, which is a soviet rangefinder body that was recently CLA in Slovakia... Technically those are all Leica Thread Mount / M39/ L39 screw (call it what you want). They are all rangefinder coupled yes. The Jupiter 12 (a 35mm F/2.8) is great on film at least (people have mixed feeling about digital). It is a direct "copy" of an old pre-war Zeiss Biogon lens. (Copy in quotes because if it is old enough there's great chance that this was made with original Zeiss tools obtained on an east german Zeiss factory that was on that side of the iron curtain)
I am waiting for a Jupiter 3 50mm f/1.5 (pretty much a Zeiss Sonnar, but USSR version) to show up in the mail in a week or so...
All these lenses have rangefinder coupling. The only ones you may have to worry about calibration being very off and only working on their original camera are the one from the 'FED' factory made before the 1960's or so I have heard.... These lenses should work on any camera that takes 39mm screw mount lens with that 28.8mm flange distance. You need to double check about compatibility for the Jupiter 12 though. This includes your Canon P, I have seen people use it on there, I have seen other people saying that the glass touches a light bafle element inside that body
Nice!
It’s a slippery slope with the red dot 😆, I use black electrical tape to cover it up, so no one knows 🤫
But some people still say is that a Leica, I say nope 😆,
Hello from the rabbit Hole.
👋
Thanks for watching and commenting. I greatly appreciate it!
yeaaaaah I resisted the leica itch for a long time but eventually it calls
It definitely does. What did you end up going with?
@@camerafusion Ultimately I purchased an M10-P, then decided I didn't need rangefinder focusing after all, just manual focusing so sold it then purchased an SL2-S. Sadly after using it I found myself wanting the smaller, slower process of the M. So now I'm sitting with the M8 and M10-D and the SL2-S listed for sale
Compared to using Leicas a Meth addiction is a walk in the park 😂
🤣
How's the ctedit card?
Haha so far so good
😂😂😂 true, i bought my first leica m8 last year, but i have to trade in to m240, still…leica 😅
@@fathurthlb3478 There is something special about them!
Ha, ha, ha! Nice collection!
Thank you!
I keep a 24mm lens on my Sony A7ii and pretend it’s a Q2
LOL
Lmao, this is so true and is happening on me😂 I never comment much but your video is so hilariously sad/expensive/legit.
🤣 Exactly!!!
Q M9 now M10
Nice!
There is no substitute for a Leica. My entry drug was a Q (Typ 116), then i sold my complete Sony equipment to buy a M240 with four awesome lenses from Leica and Voigtländer. That's it. I'm done. No need for more …
Well said!!! But, it’s kind of hard for me to imagine giving up the rest of my gear. I hope I get there someday.
@@camerafusion There was no option to hold the Sony stuff. My A7R3, an a6000 and eight very fine lenses had to be gone for a single M240 and the Summilux 50 Version IV. Only the Q survived this …
The Leica Q series is the most dangerous camera in the world... i started with the original Q... then sold it for a M6... then sold that and have landed with a M10R and black paint MP... working on collecting a series of lenses that will last a lifetime.
All beautiful cameras!!!
LOL, some people never learn. If you’re not able to ignore such itches and focus on your real needs, buy the best at first and stick with it. The best, not the biggest or the shiniest. That’s the M6 with the latest Viewfinder architecture. No digital camera will ever satisfy that itch any better, not the M11, or whatever you chose. Ok, instead of the M6 you can buy an MP, same thing, just a style variation. You can though like me, go through a bunch of others after the M6, too, but you’ll realize after years and thousands spent, that all of them are great and wonderful, but the old M6 is the real keeper, as long as Film is around.
I keep them - all. 🙂 and watch you all going the same or similar path - LOL 🙂 🙂 🙂
What you all forget: the Leica dealer knows that, too. It’s been like that for them since day 1 of their career. They see that 99% of the folks are like crack addicts. If Leica closes, they’re the top choice for the hidden business looking for a distribution channel to the prominent creatives.
I’ll definitely keep them all. I hoard cameras lol and I’ve got a fridge stocked with years worth of film and even stocked up on developer… just in case 😆
Leica Q, MP Safari, SL and CL... Be afraid be very afraid.
🤩 Safari
M4P ->MP :)
Nice!
Congrats to your new M6! Hope your new M6 copy does not scratch film like some new M6 batches became known for and required replacement of the film pressure plate.
Thanks for the head up. I’ve not heard of that. I guess I should hurry up with the first roll and see how it looks.
@@camerafusion Many posts about this online. If you see constant horizontal scratches on every film frame, you need to send the M6 back for repair. Newer batches supposedly don't suffer from this issue anymore after Leica silently corrected it. This issue only affects some of the new M6 cameras not the original vintage ones you can get used.
Idk if you can make the excuse "it's just too much money" when you keep buying more leica's 😂
Just more than I wanted to spend, or at least thought so haha
I've heard it's called G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome)....
Yep, apparently a lot of us have it 😆
@@camerafusion Lol..... ;)
well ... this might be just G.A.S. (Leica style) . About 5 years ago, after two cheap rangefinder cameras (Olympus 35 RC and the Canonet QL17) i went directly for the Leica M6TTL + a 40mm Summicron and never looked back ... I do not feel the need for new Leicas - I try to concentrate on photo-projects and experiment with different film stocks .
I wish I had your willpower!
I have the M2,M4P and M6ttl. If I never shot flash I would be more than happy with the M4P I think of it as the Canadian M6 at half the cost. I now use my M6 and 28mm elmerit v4.
the kek meters are also awesome and cheap I have one on my M4P. its a rabbit hole for sure. Personally cut myself off after the 28mm purchase. I also use life markers as excuses to purchase its always good justification.
Nice collection! Thanks for helping me justify my purchases. I’m rather frugal with other things. Camera gear is where I crazy though lol
The Leica itch is disease and there is not cure or vaccine for it. I’m infected for life 😅
Me Too!
You had more than a mid life crisis birthday - you’ve spent enough for the rest of your life! lol
Enjoy your toys
😂 Thank you!
X2D > any leica
The X2D is a beauty.
They aren’t mutually exclusive. You can get x2d / m11 / q3 / m6 😂
@@c-wliu7388 what am i gonna do with that many cameras, take photos of cameras?
If you want a Sony sensor, buy a Sony camera instead of some shitty Leica
Boo lol. I've purchased many Sony's. Currently I still have Sony A7iii, A9 and most recently bought the A7R5. Great cameras, as all cameras are today. But nothing feels like Leica!
It's not in the sensor. It's in handling and lenses. BTW: my M240 has a Leica Sensor, made by a company in Belgium.
Nearly bought an M6 ten years ago, thankful I didn’t as it would have just sat in the cupboard gaining value. I would have been too worried about it getting damaged or stolen.
LOL
