There's actually a theory on that. Foch, the french marshal of the french army, was very Christian (he even sat next to the grand duchess in the luxembourgish Cathedral) and as the luxembourgish monarchy was also very Christian he helped them out. Clemenceau, the french president didn't really have a say in any of it because Foch had such a big impact (he was seen as the saviour of france)
Fun fact: the only reason Germany didn’t win ww1 or ww2 is cuz of Luxembourg, the allies were just helping out a bit, the Germans were to afraid to invade Luxembourg so they actually didn’t, the allies got mad and made it look like Luxembourg didn’t save the world from ww1 or ww2.
Luxembourg actually has the largest military in the world and 36.000 nuclear weapons. It was too much for their stockpiles so they gave 6.000 away to the USSR and the USA each respectively.
Just wanted to pop in and say that your content is really well made feels like Oversimplified but more simplified which I like a lot. You get straight to the point and talk about conflicts that most people wouldn’t.
Interesting video. I didn’t know about this actually. Thanks for the information! And don’t stop grinding, you can tell it worked since when I came here there were only a handful of people who watched you, now you’ve built a pretty good size community. Keep it up man.
hello! i liked the video, but here are some things i noted that could be improved: the background art style and coloring sometimes doesn't mix well with the characters, for example in 0:22 the background is very saturated and bright, which can confuse where the focus of the shot is the map in 0:24 shows naples being an independant country and spain owning the southern bit of portugal, don't know what year you used to draw your map from but i don't believe these borders were accurate for 1867, and very much not for 1914, getting borders exactly right isn't necessary, but it's good to have them accurate enough for their historical borders in videos explaining history the animation in 1:00 is a bit rough, there isn't enough anticipation from the pushing movements of germany and france, and reaction from luxemburg who moves like a solid stone, perhaps a bit of exagerated movements could help but just some innacuracies that are important to catch and fix with future videos, and i do hope there are more videos because i liked them a lot! keep it up my friend! we all love to see new awesome history channels!
Can you please make content about South Africa 🙏🏿please, especially the Colonial expansion and South African war and union, I have final exam coming and I only understand animated oversimplified videos and not many RUclipsrs make oversimplified animated videos except you and Oversimplified
Is it just me, or showing a modern assault rifle and talking about big macs when it's supposed to be 1919 irksome? I know oversimplified is supposed to be jokey, but these anachronisms are kind of annoying.
No buddy, here in Luxembourg Luxembourgish is considered a language and seeing as I had to learn Luxembourgish and German I can tell you that they really arent that similar. You notice more similarities when you write them down but thats pretty much it.
@@leoissomething6603 swiss german is hardly understood by normal germans either or "Plattdeutsch" a lower german language thats now hardly known by any germans but still considered some type of german :3
@@GreenPoint_one Yes, because the speakers do not consider it to be different and consider it a dialect, however Luxembourgish is not only not really mutually intelligible but the speakers do not consider it a dialect either, therefore making it a language ^^. By your logic every language could somehow be a dialect of an older language form etc, and it would get ridiculous. Additionally, Switzerland did not have to deal with Germany trying their best to assimilate the population during both world wars, which is why many Luxembourgers are offended when you call Luxembourgish a German dialect.

Luxemburgisch used to be a german dialect therefore it was not wrong when the germans wanted to teach them german to bring unity among germans
