It was really satisfying watching the heat melt the bloom! I've never had to restring a TN but whenever I do, I'll definitely refer back to this! Thank you for showing us what the process was like. Two beautiful notebooks! Your collection is amazing.
I purchased a Midori notebook in 2015 without any knowledge of the brand. It was recommended by someone on IG. While journaling and purchasing everything Hobonichi in September, started seeing RUclips channels featuring TN. I pulled out my Midori notebook and looked at the embossing on the back and to my surprise it was stamped MIDORI, MADE IN THAILAND. I’m treasuring this one and based on your videos, I purchased several PASSPORT sized TNs. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of subject matter.❤️
My first TN has Midori stamping… and the leather is super hard!! I can knock on it and make a pretty loud, solid sound. I don’t use it anymore but it’s sitting in my bookshelf as a memorabilia.
I’ve ordered from the same shop - great service, highly recommend 👌🏻 As soon as you started describing the white finish / oils surfacing I was saying to myself, “bloom - like chocolate!” 😂😂😂 TFS Job ☘️
I totally did this as well and hunted down all the OG Midori notebooks. Not limited edition ones though just plain colors. Black, Brown, Camel and got Pan AM from the same Etsy seller, such an awesome seller. I actually got my Black Midori and Blue PanAM from them. 🥰
Great job on the restoration! Your visual on how to restring the notebook is really easy to follow and I will DEFINITELY come back to the video when I get ready to restore my elastics. I was able to grab the Midori Airport TN about 6 mths ago. It was secondhand, but the lady took REALLY good care of it. I’ve not had to replace anything as of yet! I don’t believe I know which of the last Midori TNs you are still on the hunt for. I may have to ask you one day! Anywho, hope you are having a great weekend and upcoming week!
I'm very lucky I got a midori brown TN!! I didnt know midori and TN was branching off when I purchased it in Hong Kong back in 2016 and realized how fortunate I am. I love the feel of the leather, compared to the Tokyo station one I got when I went to Japan in 2018. The Tokyo one feels very stiff and not as smooth as my midori one.
As soon as I saw the Narita Airport cover, I knew it had come from Taizo. I just purchased the MIDORI CO, LTD. brown cover he'd found. It sat in my cart for a few days before I decided that I couldn't pass that up, pricey as it was.
omg this is so cool haha. i would never dare to do this i'd be too scared that i'd break it or ruin it ahhhhh awesome job restoring them!!!! this is amazing wow maybe this can be your new side gig
Love Taizo-San. Very fun video :) I just got an older midori TN with spew on the surface of the leather as well but I just rubbed it with my hands. I’m also a hot hand boy lol. I should try heating it up though. I liked how your leather looked after the hair dryer.
You’ve done a great job 👍🏼 I’ve wanting to get Midori travelers Tokyo or Narita for a long time. But with all that COVID and closed borders I was only able to purchase Blue TN this January here in Australia. It’s quite annoying that TN store doesn’t ship to Australia 🇦🇺😭
Milligram (Sydney and was in Melbourne a couple of years ago) stocks some of the TN covers and notebooks but I'm pretty sure they don't have all the stock.
I've been trying to track down a used brown original tnp for the longest time but i either miss them or it's a lot of shipping to get it overseas to canada, but watching you restore these too journals was nice, especially watching the blooming disappear
Oh, I loved this video! Very helpful to use for future reference if I need to do repairs. My current unicorn is the 9th Anniversary Floating on Cloud 9 passport size. Not sure if they made it in other sizes. I think it must be pretty rare as I've not come across any for sale, just the cloth bag 😄
Also started collecting the Midori-stamped TNs but only have brown and black up until now, which seem to be easier to get. Camel is extremely rare to find, because it was added so late I think and most have TN stamping on the back. I got lucky with my brown, because it came with a few 5 year anniversary accessories and they didn‘t show the stamping but unfortunately it had a pocket glued on the inside. Do you think I can remove the residual glue somehow? I‘d love your input on that! Seeing the oils move back into the cover was so satisfying, too~ Thanks for sharing this with us Job! 💌
I have 2 black traveler's notebooks in my collection with Midori stampings on the back. 1 regular and 1 passport size. I can't remember if I purchased on Etsy or Poshmark.

I love that shop! His freebies are great, and he has the most cumulative offerings Ive found available online so far :)

I still have mine when they first started!!!
I got my brown and blue Midori traveler’s notebook from Japan in 2013. Great informative video

I am so glad I found your channel. Good week to you, full of smiles.
I just bought a brown midori from the same shop! Can’t wait to receive it.
I do have one and was eyeing that brown one too and then it suddenly disappeared! You beat me to it! :) It looks great!
I picked up one after seeing yours… can’t wait to receive mine

Great find!
I didn't know you could re-melt oils back into leather. Thanks for sharing!

Interesting. Would welcome more such content. I have only one standard TN.

This was so much fun and nostalgic. Thanks for sharing, Job.
OG Narita! Amazing!

@@shazyoung6530 Yes! Milligram is a great store (on-line at least, I am from Adelaide), but not the full range though :(

I would love one that is Midori. I live in Canada.

I love the Moomin
I would have never imagined that heat would work so well! Also, I've been trying to find a Midori TN, but am not having any luck, how do I find one?
Hello, could you please share the link where you got the Midori Narita Airport Traveler's Notebook?
Thanks.
How do you open up the little metal clip so you can reuse it?
