Last Player to lose on time the world championship garry kasparov against Nigel Short in the 1193 PCa match in a Fide world championship it was Yefim Bogulyubov against alekhine, I think that was 1929. Thanks James.

Gukesh is a caclulation master you present him a completely new scenario he has better chances of succeeding .on the other hand ding is experienced he has a huge library of games in his head to recollect from. Gukesh is taking the experience factor out of this competition .Not sure how long he can push this as it can back fire to be risky bet. Although in post match gukesh says he has prepared the first game and did not prepare the remaining two . He clearly seems to be playing better when not prepared in risky positions. We will likely see gukesh pushing DIng into unknown territory going forward which will push ding to spend time and loose out on time or force him into errors.

Yeah I couldn't believe it. How do you NOT realize you're going to lose on time if you don't hurry up? have you ever wondered how many different world champions we would have had over the last decade without Magnus Carlsen? To be honest, it seems like we could have had any number of world champions trading the title back and forth. I could see MVL, Fabiano, Levon Aronian, and a number of top ten players of the last fifteen years taking the spot and trading it around, back and forth. Seeing the last WCC between Ding and Nepo is a prime example of this. Magnus' run in the WCC, the games were always 'make a mistake, you lose.' wherein one person either struggled to draw or pressed when they had a chance. He has lost 3 games in the total of his whole time as WCC. Fabi arguably did the best against him, not losing a single game in classical but then getting whap-slam-walloped in the tiebreaks.
It's strange that watching these last two WCC matches and how instead of showing that Magnus is out of his prime, but only further demonstrating to what extent he absolutely dominates this sport. He held the triple crown of championships three different times. Classical, rapid and blitz championship wins in three different years. We will likely never see an individual dominate a sport like Magnus has. He is the Mozart of chess, because he was fortunate enough to have … the Beethoven of Dads. :)
great video as always J. Hope you have a great holiday season, for boxing day and whatever else you and our British cousins across the pond do during the season. Tiddlywinks and a pint? Snooker and a ginger biscuit?

Possibly the worst play I have seen in a WC. Gukesh did not have to do anything to win, Ding handed him the game by losing the plot completely. Ding could have played for a draw with almost all his pieces intact if he had run down the clock and gone full defence. He just kept wasting time on looking for some magic move.

Yeah, Gukesh did nothing. He just sat there. If it had been you sitting there, you would have won too. Have some respect. Even if it was a case of Ding losing the plot, we cannot say Gukesh did not have to do anything to win. He did plenty.

It's prawn to sea ships. You just didn't get the joke. Maybe if you were GROWN UP and gotten your ears cleaned out you'd have heard what he actually said.

He gave us a mighty serious breakdown of the match, in an entertaining format. If you're a boring person and can't stand for people to be happy, just say that.
