I'm a little surprised about how long it took for us to rake in a Thunderbolt as they're quite common. We didn't even get the typical variant though this one is still fine. The Thunderbolt is perfectly good Mech to migrate into from the medium class into the heavy class. It is comparable to larger Mechs of its class such as the Orion which have the same kind of weaponry philosophy of a bit of everything for all ranges and situations. The standard Thunderbolt also serves as a training Mech as it carries all 3 weapon types: energy, ballistic, and missile meaning the pilot can level up all their weapon skills at once. Overall, the Thunderbolt may not be very fancy, but it gets the job done.
I feel like it takes a bit less damage than other heavy Mechs. Not sure if the AI is affected by its smaller size or not. I notice it on the Catapult K2 as well. I feel like I tend to take less damage in it compared to say an Orion or a Black Knight.
I gotta agree, the T-Bolt is a great 'Mech for just about everything. I think my favorite thing is just how versatile it feels to pilot it (and a few of the other Heavies/Assaults) which also lends itself to being a good 'Mech for Lancemates with a couple updates. The super thick armor doesn't hurt, either, lol.
Hey fox been a subscriber for almost a year now joined up for your SoD2 content originally but have been enjoying the MW5:Mercenaries content i honestly didn't know the game existed till your rags to riches playthrough i was even more surprised to see the game on Xbox and been having a blast since I haven't played any MW games since MW4:Vengeance and if you are still making subbers into mechs I'd very much appreciate it. Keep up the great content its very entertaining and educational made me a better player in both SoD2 and MW5
I like the thunderbolt, pack a punch and good armor. I always use thunderbolts as my lancemates mech until i got my hand on assault class mech. Interesting choice on small weapon there, fox. I pick 4 small laser sb of all flamer for simplicity on the attack button.
Yeah, I don't like 4 weapon groups typically as they start to feel a bit awkward. That's probably just from a lack of using my additional mouse buttons on a regular basis, but I also find it a bit difficult to keep up with 4 separate recharging rates, and I always wind up firing some of the weapons slower than normal.
Thunderbolt is such a cool looking mech, I really love the arms. Just artistically so unique. I don't think I'd have done anything better with the redesign. My appreciation for small lasers is growing lol.
Yeah, I love small lasers. You wouldn't think they'd make a difference, but they do. You lose some range with the medium lasers, but this Mech has range covered with its main PPC and LRM15.
@@GitGudFox Sure, but for new people or general public, that layout gives you 5 fire groups on virtually all mice, with easy access. If people use the middle mouse for push to talk, you still have click left right and roll up roll down for 4 weapon groups.
Bizarre, I don't ever remember the Thunderbolt in Robotech or Macross. Warhammer, Marauder, Archer, Rifleman, Wasp, Stinger, Phoenix Hawk. Ostoc or whatever. Those Ost mechs that were Zentradi battle pods.
Yeah, I had thought so originally, since I was younger and knew Robotech. Last night I started watching Fang of the Sun Dougram, a mecha series I hadn't known existed.
You have a sort of Mech Pokedex like in Pokemon. It lists every Mech you've seen and tells you where they can be found. It's in the last menu tab where all your player stats etc are.
The Thunderbolt? It should be a fairly common Mech as it's one of the sort of "line tooper" designs in the heavy class. Remember that there's a Mech list in your menus. I can't remember exactly where, but it shows every Mech you've seen and which faction is most likely to have them.

I'll have to give the Tbolt a try. The lore surrounding it is definitely interesting.
Thank you for the lunch entertainment
Notification squad?

Absolutely love the thunderbolt. When given the chance even if lighter than other mechs available for the drop. I still take it.

Weapon fire mapping for Mouse and Keyboard: L+R click = 1 & 2, Middle Mouse = 3, Roll mouse wheel up & Roll mouse wheel down = 4 & 5.
I use a mouse with 12 additional buttons where the thumb is.
It wasn't expensive either like $30.

Damm this Mech looks zo cool
Yeah, it was a big loss when it became unseen.

Well, not all of the Unseen come from Robotech/Macross. They come from several shows.
Yeah, I had thought so originally, since I was younger and knew Robotech. Last night I started watching Fang of the Sun Dougram, a mecha series I hadn't known existed.
Where is the best place to find one? I had one and it was my favorite, but I started the game over and no I can't find one.

Been trying to find a video that says approximately where to find one of these.
