It was probably more of a rhetorical question but I'm going to answer it anyway... You can actually experience things like combat leopards and friendly air support in MW5 Mercs, as long as you install the excellent 'Coyotes Mission Pack and Mission Overhaul Mod'. It even has procedural "endgame missions" that are considerably tougher than anything vanilla throws at you, for when you have a Steiner scout lance or two and all other missions are just a cakewalk for your team. Knowing how you feel about mods, I won't hold out hope of you actually adding it to your playthroughs but if you ever change your mind, it really makes Mercs a lot more interesting to play without massively altering game balance like YAML does.
I agree about mech speed being largely irrelevant in this iteration of the game. The relatively constrained maps combined with the clans' preference for long-ranged weaponry means that slower mechs with their emphasis on armour and armament feel generally superior to their fast and nimble cousins.
Good call on the changes made to our star for the dropship mission. We absolutely walked through that mission til the end fight. I'm quite enjoying the dungeon crawler feel to this game so far. Im concerned the game is going to end soon as the missions are pretty fun.
My favorite so far is the executioner with lots of er smalls, a targeting comp , 2 large pulse lasers. It wrecks everything. And can move with MASC. You can mix match omnipods from different omnipod set variants.
As for the Hellbringer its the only heavy mech thst can have both the ECM slot and Active probe(ideal for liam). The Scarecrow is an SRM Monster tho❤ the Nova cat can do 12 medium pulse lasers. So can the Executner(would advise against using the MASK system at all. Sustained use will royally fuck up your mechs leg hp😢. Btw Your instincts about the meta r correct mostly>Medium pulse lasers, spesificly 15 of them❤🎉Direwolf
I agree a career mode is needed or add it to MW5 mercs galaxy. But multiple DLC could be done before that at 15 bucks a piece, Clan Ghostbears dlc, Clan wolf, Clan jade falcon. Even a refusal war dlc could be done. And new mechs added with each. Then 3060 DLC could be added. All added to the Mercs Galaxy.
They need a Heroes of the Inner Sphere type DLC that adds like 8 Mechs, maybe 2 to each weight class and career mode. They need to beef up that 16 Mech count.
I have same problem that my mech and control config isn't saved every time I boot up the game. Performance is a bit choppy from time to time. Game need serious optimization and QoL.
Lots of Clan mechs use standard armor. This game follows the official Tech manuals. The engines and alot of Equiptment are Fixed as per the 1980s Battletechnical readouts.readout. my assumption is that it was to ballance the omnipod loadouts so the Mech would be stable.

Yesterday's patch I believe fixed that saving controls problem.
That was really annoying. Good that it's fixed now.
Fyi fox u can use the overhead map to nove the AI to crossfire possitions.
Feels like it'll take too much effort since I can just own them.

Yeah, there's no mission where you need to scramble around for time sensitive goals.

I'm looking forwards to the Warhawk and Dire Wolf. I've heard of a 14 pulse laser build on the Dire Wolf.

A cool DLC would be one that covers the Exodus and into the formation of the clans. Start with Starleague old tech.

According to the battle tech3050 technical readout the armor of the Hellbringer is standard.
Always knew the Hellbringer was stinky.

Yeah, not saving your keybinds is aggravating.
The gargoyles gets better when you can mismatch omnipods from other builds. The mechs flaw is low hanging hardpoints.
I'm not too unhappy with the existing setup. Twin ACs and twin SRMs is familiar to me from Mercs.
