They did it for the history of the first courts and kept them when they moved buildings
It’s a nod to the original Boston Garden courts. All the courts in the old Boston Garden used screws to attach the courts to the floor and attach the pieces together. When they moved to TD Garden and got a new court. They didn’t need the screws anymore as new technology allowed them to connect the court without bolts like that. They decided to keep the bolts as a historical nod but I don’t think they actually screw anything in
It said THINGS I really thought It’s more than just the screws.
Lived here all my life and it’s always been like that. Best floor in sports. Let’s get that championship

They build the court with square pieces so they use screws
