- The KGM Torres is a large family SUV from a brand you’ve probably never heard of, even though they have been around since 1954 making decent 4x4 off-road vehicles and pickup trucks. KGM or Korean General Motors, is the new name of SsangYong, the Korean car maker that’s been selling decent SUVs in the UK for years now. KGM took over SsangYong in 2022 and have continued to produce the Rexton and Korando however, the Torres is the first new model under the KGM brand.
The Torres has a smart, stylish exterior design that looks very fresh compared with many of the dull alternative SUVs currently on the market. The interior has a premium feel with some sharp design elements that give this SUV some proper character. Inside there are a pair of 12.5-inch displays with the majority of functions controlled through these screens, which are clear and responsive. Interior space shouldn’t be a problem either as the KGM Torres shares similar dimensions with larger rival seven-seaters, but being limited to five seats means the boot is massive at 703 litres, thats bigger than most alternatives you’ll be considering.
There’s an electric version called the Torres EVX, but the regular model, Torres ICE reviewed here, comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine which will generate around 163hp. Official consumption figures put the KGM Torres at 33mpg, so it’s not hugely economical, though a hybrid version is coming in 2025 which should add a few more miles to that.
The KGM Torres starts at around £33,000 and rises above £38,000 for top-spec models, which makes it a bit more expensive than entry level versions of the Nissan Qashqai and closer to the price of the seven-seater Nissan X-Trail as well as the Skoda Kodiaq, however, you wont have to spend out on any add on packs like the others as the KGM Torres comes with pretty much everything you need, even in the entry level trim.
The KGM Torres is available in entry level K30trim, which includes pretty much everything you would want in a modern car, to range topper K40, which gets bigger rims and some extra tekkie bits, plus theres now the new K40 AWD trim if you are looking to do some offroading. All trims are available in six different colours.

Unfortunately it's not available in petrol or diesel in the Republic of Ireland just fully Electric due to higher emissions
New Emission laws must be nuts over there...
i think the engine may be a little small for Australia and I hope they start to develop a diesel or port the rexton diesel would be great too
Annoying that an SUV does not have a spare
