Ah... I remember coming home after school while listening to Rammstein, then playing on my comp Charm Tale(lol) and Solitaire and listening them. I take a break from them, I may not listen to them for a month or a year, but still know and love their songs.
I just can't believe how good this album is. There is no bad song, not even one.
These guys have been a favourite for more the 10 years. My godfather who was bass player and a German haha burned Herzelied and Sehnsuct for a my dad. He didn't care for it but I listened to those albums almost every day for years. I was just starting out playing in high school. My friends and I jammed to this stuff before most people in Canada knew who they were. Now they are one of the biggest bands in the world. Hope they keep going for another 20 years.
I had this when it first came out. I even still remember the smell of the booklet, if that doesn't sound weird or anything (it smelled oddly sweet). I'm still grateful my brother showed me Rammstein back when I was in middle school. This album was my 2004.
No that's not odd, I do the same thing when I receive a C.D.

This was my first metal band. I was growing up in Texas and while I had learned some german vocabulary from my father who lived there for a while, i had no idea what was being said. Then I took german classes in highschool and I became horrified for a while. You listen to something like Mein Teil or Zwitter and you have no idea what they're saying and it sounds metal as fuck and you're like HELL YEAH and you kind of imagine what the song means, then you learn it and it's like oh FUCK and you feel really stupid.
Nowadays it helps me remember my german studies. I've forgotten most of it, I couldn't do much but ask where the post office is if I travelled to germany but I can understand Rammstein songs still, which is weird, but that's ok.

They sing about past experiences between the band and or current experiences as well as the government in Germany but in their own way.The reason we find it so amusing and appealing to our ears is because we feel the emotions through their music as-well as some what of sense that we slightly understand the lyrics to our imagination, but there if you also go into the translation you may be able to understand what they are trying to say in the bands words.

***** It's not "very" easy. Whats VERY easy, is searching the translated lyrics online. I think its easier to learn it for english speakers since both languages are related and have lot of words in common, for spanish-speakers like me.. Hm not so much haha. But still i understand most of the words, since ive listened to the songs thousands of times x.x

***** My first languange is Spanish, i didnt know german at all when i started listening to rammstein, but the translated versions in english were enough to understand what the songs were about. NOT EXACTLY of course, but it gives you an idea of what they say literally, and over time, listening to it again and again (at least me) and realize what they MEANT.
Matias Bernhardt Yeah but, I think she means to give at leat an idea of what it is, i have done it and now as she I can sort of understand what they talk about, for me I speak just spanish and english and I listen music in german (just Rammstein) and in Japanise, I translate every single song to realize what they are talking about and, it actually works for me...
Till lindemanns lyrical constructions are often not easily to interpret correctly even for mother tongue germans, hes playing a lot with double meanings and puns that would only work in geman language, you can translate it only literally but not the actual way its meant.
So unless you dont learn german on mother tongue level you won't perfectly understand rammstein lyrics

Nobody would say that Till is a great vocalist but he did his best on the track Ohne Dich, this album was the first album i've ever heard by Rammstein, it will always be my favorite along with Mutter, thanks for sharing.

For the people wondering why so many Americans like Rammstein it's very simple.
Nobody in the history of music has EVER put on the kinds of shows these guys do.
I have liked the band since before Du Hast got its music video on MTV and since then I've noticed a lot of things concerning the American fan-base.
Most of us still think Du Hast is a song about hate and destruction and have no idea it pertains to marriage and the fact that nothing is forever as far as relationships are concerned.
So basically what I'm trying to say is most of us can't understand the lyrics and just blast it to be edgy, the rest of us that actually understand the language like them for what they are even though Krusp is always hiding behind drop-D tuning and every song sounds the same.
Personally, I like them because of their subtle messages concerning Deutschland and its history.
Just a really good band with staying power unlike any other.

It's either this album or Rosenrot that's my favourite Rammstein, but I like them for different reasons. Mutter would come next, but it's best songs are all on Made in Germany so there's less point in getting it than there was :p
These are also my favorite albums it's nice to see someone that also has these underrated albums as a fav. As I do like Mutter sometimes along with Sehnsucht I feel their a bit over praised.

Always thought "Reise Reise" meant "Rise, Rise". Just saw that it means Journey Journey, I'm so disappointed.
I always thought that it's "Reise, Reise, sieben Reise" and it means "Rise, Rise, seven rises" :D
It's traduction to english is "Travel travel, sailor travel" since it's Reise Reise, Seemann reise
