    Pirates finished 5-1 against Padres this year but have been swept by the A's and Cubs twice.. baseball is a weird but awesome game

      They went 5-1 against LAD last season too, easily the best mark against the winningest team in the league, from a team that won only 62 all season. Some matchups work out like that.
      In the words of Casey Stengel, "Good pitching will always stop good hitting and vice-versa."

      @@Ares14 yea I'm a red Sox fan, for example look at them they dominated Yankees and Jays so far but lost series to Rockies at home, Marlins at home, reds at home before they were good. This new schedule is cool though because we're seeing more parity in races and more teams in contention

    • @closethockeyfan5284

      Some call Greg Brown corny, and there is truth to that, but it is also creativity that often resonates with his audience. Pirates pulled out a toy sword and pirate jacket for homer celebrations this year, and people ate it up. Brown has been doing that with wordplay for 30 years and counting, most of that the darkest era in club history.

    • @ForeverBleedinGreen
      @ForeverBleedinGreen Год назад +1

      And while you're at it, make up an 'auto-ball rule' to go with the 'pitch clock,' and since we're making up stupid rules, let's throw in 'manager challenges.' Yeah, those will speed the game up alright, lol! And as Karpiel73 points out, let's speed up the game by penalizing the pitcher for 'going too fast' when he didn't even know what he was doing wrong.
      Here's an idea: Where I live in NW PA, when say a new stop sign is installed, the cops will just warn people for a month or so giving locals time to get conditioned to the new sign. I think MLB should adopt a similar policy to let players get conditioned to their stupid rules. I like old school baseball, and wish they'd either go back to it, or capitalize on all this technology that the league, for some strange reason, aren't using.
      They're using hi-def cameras that are filming at at least 5,000 fps. So why can't they give the umps the tools they need, and teach them how to use it. That play at 3rd when Jack S. tried stealing it, is a great example. With today's hi-tech they should've been able to quickly zoom in on the area of the tag, and go frame-by-frame as the 3rd baseman's glove swiped by the runner's arm. With hi-def and hi-speed at their disposal, the umps would be able to see if the glove moved, or even appeared to be effected, or some effect the tag would cause when, and if, the glove ever touched him. Personally, I think he was safe.

    • @nahor88

      @@ForeverBleedinGreen MLB is just vainly trying to catch up to the rest of the American sports world; basically Zoomers with next to no attention span thanks to all their technology, so leagues feel like they have to encourage offense to hold their interest (aka dollars).

    If this was the 3rd game of series, I already assume another L of being 99% of every series the Padres has loss. I believe only 2 sweeps of a series so far and that is very bad. Starting to believe Front Office signing big name players to be the foundation of a ladder down or water down talent around those big names of paying the lesser end players ( like minors to promote) to compensate the big name player s salary. Yes, its a formula every team uses but with Padres, it is showing their scouting of evaluating average players is not working or just very bad scouting and evaluating players of a mind not really knowing baseball players skill sets and Front Office relying too much on those big name players to win but it takes everyone including the coaches to win in MLB. This team is bad, I mean it is the bottom half of the batting line up that is stinking up the place as being the worst group of guys in MLB of those role players. Look at Grisom, he is always looking confused at the plate and he looks like a giant Rabbit s foot when he do get a play for runs. Too many others to call out and they all exposed just as bad as Grisom..
