From what I heard, Butterfinger cut ties with the Simpsons after there was an episode where Butterfingers were written as so repulsive, even the fire spit them back out when they banned sugar in Springfield.

The commercial where Bart was teasing Maggie and Lisa was the time I ever saw the Simpsons. I remember thinking how hilarious it was. Then in 1989, when I saw the Christmas episode being advertised, I remember saying myself, "that"s the person from the butterfinger commercial." I set my VCR to record that show. I became a lifelong fan after watching that episode.
