Hi Lorenzo Fiore, Surgery is the only way to address a stretched, detached, or defective levator muscle. General plastic, and cosmetic surgeons aren't trained for this highly precise surgery, so leaving it to technology alone is not practical, or possible. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi The Dark Side, Sorry to hear about your problem. You can have congenital ptosis addressed at your age. You can refer to these more recent videos about it: ruclips.net/video/7gWSjQce3DQ/видео.html ruclips.net/video/_xj70iyU2JQ/видео.html
Hi Dagamelove Zionn, Sorry to hear that, but it is possible that it did affect your eyelid. You can refer to this more recent video on how eyelid ptosis is diagnosed and treated - ruclips.net/video/7gWSjQce3DQ/видео.html
Hi ZDEX, Sorry to hear about your problem. A growth or mass on the eyelid can cause a type of eyelid ptosis called mechanical ptosis. A physical examination by an oculoplastic/ oculofacial surgeon like myself is needed before recommending specific procedures for removal of the stye, and treatment for the drooping of the eyelid. I hope this helps you.
I had this surgery done when I was 14 years old back in 1999 but the issue i face now due to the lifted muscle is one eye blinks normal while the effected eye blinks half way or not at all. I also sleep with one eye open as a result of the surgery and end up with one dry eye.
Hi One Man On Fire, When people have ptosis at a young age, and have it surgically corrected, they often need correction again later in life. I explain it in this video ruclips.net/video/ZhhmiRd3IYU/видео.html. It does sound like your current condition is affecting your eye and general health. I advise seeking consultation with an oculofacial/oculoplastic surgeon who are also ophthalmologists and perform ptosis correction if needed. I hope this helps you, and you find the relief you need.
I’m not sure how my case relates here, but I’m freaking out. One day, there was something in my eye. I rubbed at it all day trying to get it out, and my mother finally helped me to get it out. However, I felt my eyelid drooping and decided to check in the mirror. I saw that my right eyelid was covering a bit less than half of my pupil. I’m only 11, and I’m still concerned. It’s been like that for about 2 days now. 2 days isn’t such a long time but I have very low self esteem and tend to worry a lot. This is bugging me and I can’t have surgery. What should I do?
Sorry to hear about your problem, Oh Tea. You should see an ophthalmologist to make sure that everything is OK with your eyelid. Next time, don't rub your eyes too much, and try to induce tears to help wash out the irritant instead of rubbing your eyes. Eyelid skin is the thinnest skin in the body, so it's very delicate. I hope this helps you.
Hi, im 14 years old and i have Ptosis. I'm not aloud surgery because my vision is good and the surgeon said my ptosis will recover when i grow. I'm afraid it won't happen, so have you got any tips or suggestions to overcome ptosis if you can't have surgery?
Hi Ryzist , I think you should ask your parents to get a second opinion from on oculofacial/oculoplastic surgeon. There really is no way to treat ptosis outside of surgery. Ptosis does occur at young ages from birth or due to injury, so your case is not uncommon. May I ask what type of surgeon you consulted? Only oculofacial/ oculoplastic surgeons perform ptosis correction surgery. I wish you the best of luck with what you and your parents decide to do.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. We wen't to optician, and we where referred to a city general. And they said no because i had perfect eye sight, may i ask where are you loacated?.... So i can maybe under-go surgery up their?
Hi Ryizst, We have two locations in New York: Manhattan and Garden City, Long Island. Arrangements can be made by your parents through our website www.prasadcosmeticsurgery.com. I hope you are able to make it here.
Hi Ryzist, You can look for an oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon in the UK. These are the surgical specialists that do ptosis correction. I wish you the best of luck with it.
Hi Boys with luv, It is likely due to a weak connection between your eyelid skin and the muscle that lifts the eyelid called the levator. You can watch these videos about it: ruclips.net/video/Bp5M19lCDmw/видео.html ruclips.net/video/rtDDRHknbkc/видео.html
Hi, I've been having problems with my right eyelid drooping, and it annoys m ein pictures. I've never had drooping eyes as a child I'm pretty sure, but I've noticed this has been happening more at least 6 months now. I'm only 12 and my mom doesnt want me having any sort of surgery like this. Ive been looking everywhere on how to find a way to even out my eyes, and make them symmetrical, but I haven't found much videos. I hope you can give me advice on how to make my right eye equal to my left. And the doctor u were talking about? What's that? Is it like and eye doctor?
Hi Abby Graciie, Sorry to hear about your problem, but a drooping eyelid needs to be examined by an experienced doctor. While a drooping eyelid may be caused by a weak or detached muscle that lifts the eyelid, it can also be an indicator of a neurological issue. I suggest you talk to your mother about seeing a doctor as soon as possible to diagnose the cause of your drooping eyelid, then proceed from there. A neuro ophthalmologist is likely best, just so they can rule out neurological issues. If your eyelid is drooping due to a weak or detached eyelid muscle, than an oculoplastic or oculofacial surgeon is needed to perform specialized eyelid ptosis surgery. Eyelid ptosis can occur in children, and even newborns, so it is possible that it can happen to someone as young as you. I hope you can have a diagnosis soon so you don't have to worry.
@@kalon0778 Right? Its so annoying and I'm only 12. Like when your twelve and older you care about how you look even more cause your starting to like boys and wanna look good for them 🤧
Hi Jake, All surgeries involve risks, but risks are minimized and avoided by the expertise and experience of the surgeon performing the surgery. You can refer to this more recent video on how I diagnose and treat eyelid ptosis - ruclips.net/video/7gWSjQce3DQ/видео.html
Hello doctor. I'm really grateful that you're making this video. I'm having same problem as lazy eye but I think it's not that. When I blink one of my eye they shift to left/right respectively but after sometime they get back to normal. This happens same when I focus too much. Can you please tell me is it lazy eye or something else? Thanks!
Hi Vishesh Modi, Sorry to hear that, but this needs to be properly examined to determine the cause. The issue could be the muscle that lifts the eyelid, or there could be a neurological cause. If you can't come see us for a proper examination, I suggest you see a local ophthalmologist to determine the cause. I hope this helps you.
Hi @chammanishfaq9779, I hope you understand that without a physical examination of your condition like your surgeon did, I do have to defer to their judgment. A raise of 2mm should make a significant improvement in your appearance, and your vision if it's affected. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi 1wezza, Eyelids in people who don't have a lazy eye may feel heavy and hard to open when tired. A diagnosis is needed to determine if you have a lazy eyelid that needs treatment. You can refer to this more recent video on who a lazy eye (eyelid ptosis) is diagnosed and treated - ruclips.net/video/7gWSjQce3DQ/видео.html
Hi f_k ezezez, No, a defective, stretched, or detached levator muscle that causes drooping in the upper eyelids cannot be strengthened or corrected with the exercises shown in that video link you sent. The video you sent is misleading because the before and after results shown in the beginning of the video were medical procedures, including surgery, performed by trained doctors, while the exercises shown are not advised or performed by those doctors. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hello Dr. I have worse ptosis in both eyes and its affecting my vision. Just wanna ask how much would it take for a surgery to correct it.. thanks Dr, reply appreciated.. :)
Hi man yagnomalac, We don't have set costs for ptosis surgery as each patient's needs are different, and there is more than one technique for ptosis correction surgery. A physical exam is needed to diagnose ptosis and its severity, then cost can be determined. You can reach us through www.prasadcosmeticsurgery.com, www.eyelifts.com, or www.pufffyeyes.com by filling out a contact form, and we will get back to you, and also try to give you a price range. I hope to hear from you soon.
Question, can having left eye ptosis be the cause of the appearance of cockeye or are they two totally diffrent things that dont interfere with one another
Hi Tiana Love, Eyelid ptosis would be your eyelid drooping, while cockeyed is your eye bulging, and forcing the eyelid to retract upward, so they are completely opposite symptoms. I do suggest you see an ophthalmologist to confirm what you have.
I kinda have a droopy eyelid but it is kinda hard to tell at sometimes. But when I look in the mirror for a little bit longer I notice it. I told my dad about it and he says it runs in the family. If it is ptosis, can I fix it without surgery? (Sorry if this question doesn’t make sense. I forgot to say I’m 10)
Hi Flower_ Angel, If it's not present all the time, and it's hard to notice, it isn't likely to be eyelid ptosis, but probably normal eyelid asymmetry. I suggest you don't worry about it unless it becomes really noticeable most of the time, or if you feel you have to consciously raise your eyelids to see properly. I hope this helps you.
Thank you sir you explained clearly.. now I'm 19 sir .. when I got to know about this ptosis I consult the surgeon.. .but afraid to do surgery now day by day eye lid drooping what should sir can't I overcome without surgery even I'm with sight
Hi Phebe Keerthana, Sorry to hear that. If you are consulting with an oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon who is an expert with eyelid ptosis, then at some point you need to trust your surgeon. I hope this helps you.
Hi PennytheBALLstar13, An examination would be needed to determine if you're a candidate for surgery because there is a range of severity of Bell's palsy, and its effects on the eyelids. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Jaedyn Laanstra, You still need to see a doctor for the eye drops as it is a prescription medication called Upneeq. The drops do have a wide range of variable effectiveness, as it may not work at all, or if does work, there is no telling how long it will be effective, but it's effective for no more than a few hours at most. I hope this clarifies things for you.
In my right eye the eyebrow has dropped a little bit and you cant see the eyelid but it doesnt affect anything, i see perfectly fine and it has not caused me a problem, i blink normaly, it just looks bad if you look closer because in the left eye you can see the eyelid which is perfectly fine
Hi @roencoci6003, There are other causes of fullness above the upper eyelids, such as brow ptosis where it's the brow that droops. I would have to examine you to diagnose the exact cause, but you can refer to this more recent video about possible causes of fullness above the upper eyelids - ruclips.net/video/JZQ4uvnyYvQ/видео.html
Hi Awab Ali, Sorry, but eyelid ptosis does need specialized surgery to treat a defective, detached, or stretched levator muscle. You can refer to this more recent video about diagnosing, and treating eyelid ptosis - ruclips.net/video/7gWSjQce3DQ/видео.html
Hello doctor thank you you explained very well I havee a question my one eyelid is little droopy or bigger than other eye and I always push my eyelid upper side and I am feeling my muscle also moving but I am very scared to go to surgery if it's not successful then..
Hi Adil Manzoor, Sorry to hear about your problem. I can't recommend any treatment before I diagnose if there is an actual problem or not. You can refer to these videos about when eyelid asymmetry is normal, and when it needs treatment: ruclips.net/video/HobDhlOFPIg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/1WvlL2djMZU/видео.html
Hi Kave Quinn, If the lazy eyelid is caused by a stretched or detached muscle that lifts the eyelid called the levator muscle, then surgery is the only way to shorten or reattach the muscle. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD I really don't have any knowledge about this.So it's good to meet a doctor before making a conclusion, isn't it? Thank you doctor for your kind advices❤️

My brother use to scratch his eyes a lot, guessing that’s why his right is SUPER low, while his left is normal and open more. He’s 12 and very insecure and wear sunglasses, put egg YOLKS! Just a lotttt of things to fix it. I don’t want him to get surgery 😅
Hi k.L Jiae, Sorry to hear that. Your brother could have damaged his upper eyelid muscle with constant scratching, causing eyelid ptosis. Eyelid ptosis can occur in children, so this is one of the few eyelid surgeries that can be done in very young people. Unfortunately, surgery is the only way to correct eyelid ptosis. I hope this clarifies things for you.
I just underwent ptosis surgery and my right eye is worse than before the surgery. The surgeon says that I need to wait a few months for my eyelid to fully open, is this true? When I came out of surgery, I could barely open my eyelid past my iris. I am now one week post op and not much has changed. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi @pinksea7399, It is possible for temporary swelling after eyelid ptosis correction to affect the eyelid fully opening, but perhaps you misunderstood your surgeon as this does not take months to resolve. I'm not sure about the aftercare instructions your surgeon gave you to help heal the incisions, and reduce swelling, but I suggest you follow up with your surgeon to monitor your healing, and to see if anything can be done to expedite your healing. I usually have my patients on a specific aftercare plan right after surgery, as featured in this video - ruclips.net/video/gbufMchPcoc/видео.html

Hi doctor, I'm diagnose with both lazy eye and lazy eyelid when I was 1-2 years old and I had it surgically corrected when I was 3. The correction did not make both eyes leveled as i learnt from my parents that doctor said it would be removing 'too much skin' from the eyelid and my eyes would be wide open when I'm asleep. I also had alot worse vision in that lazy eye since young. I am now wondering if covering my good eye (with an eye patch) and 'training' that lazy eye would do anything beneficiary to my overall vision.
Hi Artaee, Sorry to hear about your problem, but it sounds like your doctor took the wrong approach due to a lack of training - drooping eyelids are caused by the eyelid muscle being defective, not extra eyelid skin. It's not clear if your eyelid ptosis affected your visual development, so you do need an eye exam before making decisions on your vision. As for the appearance of your eyelids after previous surgery, you can refer to this video about it - ruclips.net/video/4FHEWqPKZMU/видео.html
@@AmiyaPrasadMD Thanks for the prompt response, it seems that the correction surgery was not to remove excess skin, but something my parents had told me when I was a child who did not understand the procedure. Either ways I strongly believe that I had lazy eyes and not just lazy eyelid because when i tried covering my stronger eyes for 1-2hrs to see how my weaker eyes perform, it actually was forced to focus and the vision sharpened! However, my good eye suffer momentary loss of focus and I am worried it could harm my good eye. I know I should seek professional advice from an expert but we are at a lock down at the moment and I hope you could help! My question: So what I noticed was that for several sessions of 1-3 hours of covering my good eye to do daily chores or even gaming, the focus of my weaker eye increased substantially. It also feels like i could somehow 'control' the muscle of the weaker eye. The 30 mins or so after removing the eye patch my good eye losses focus and with both eyes opened, I could hardly focus on words. But at that point my weaker eye still had good focus. After awhile when my good eye 'recovers', I see better with both eyes but when i close my good eye to check on the weaker one, it lost its focus again. Should I even bother wearing the patch and would wearing the patch harm my good eye?
Hi joe ridley, Surgery is the only treatment for eyelid ptosis. If it is not affecting your vision, and you are not consciously or subconsciously raising your eyelids, then it is not absolutely necessary. If it is affecting your vision, you should have it done. I hope this clarifies things for you.
hey sir, basically i bumped my eye back when i was young and ever since then till now there’s this bump on my eye, it does hurt or effect my vision but it makes my face look weird because one eye is bigger than the order due to the eyebrows??? i wonder what i can do about it and also the bump/lump is under my left eyebrow
Hi Fahad Ahmed, Sorry to hear about your problem. I would have to examine the bump in consultation to determine what the best approach would be for you. I hope this helps you.
Hello doc I hope you are doing well My eye got smaller after I got punched in the left eye after some time I noticed it looks smaller then the other is this the Same case
Hi Omar Aryobi, Sorry to hear that, but it has to be properly examined to determine if it's just temporary swelling due to the trauma, or if your eyelid or its muscle was damaged by the trauma. I hope this helps you.
Hey so my right has been really weird and i havent found anything about it. My right eye/pupil goes up when i get close to something idk why it does this. Is it a lazy eye?
Hi Ariana Grande, It's important for you to see an ophthalmologist to determine the cause of this. A proper physical is needed for a diagnosis. I hope this helps you.
Hi dhillon sabb dhillon sabb, Sorry, I only perform surgery in New York. I advise you to see an oculoplastic/ oculofacial surgeon for ptosis treatment as this is a specialized procedure that is not performed by general plastic or cosmetic surgeons. I hope this helps you.

Hey, I’m 14 years old and struggle very slightly with Ptosis, I don’t notice it too much but it bothers me a lot visually, even though others don’t notice it, what do you think I should do? I’m not very good with terms, English is not my first language, please have that in mind, sorry.
Hi saken, Sorry to hear about your problem. A ptosis examination is needed before making specific recommendations for your case. And please don't be conscious about your English, as you write better than many native speakers! You can refer to this video about how eyelid ptosis is diagnosed, and treated - ruclips.net/video/7gWSjQce3DQ/видео.html
Hi Bopt8, Sorry, but ptosis correction surgery is the only way to treat eyelid ptosis long-term. The eye drops used for this only lasts for minutes or hours, and they don't work at all for many people. I hope this clarifies things for you.
i had a nose job and it’s day 7 i noticed my right eye is more closed and droopy and it’s heavy when i blink i still didn’t remove the cast so dose this change or should i be worried
Hi, Sorry to hear about your problem. I suggest you follow up with your doctor to bring this to their attention, so they can guide you about what happened during surgery. If the issue persists after healing from your recent surgery, a ptosis examination can be performed by an oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon. I hope this helps you.
Hi R. Ch, Eyelid ptosis is normally a constant condition, with some people who have it straining their eyelids to lift them open for better vision. You can refer to this video on how eyelid ptosis is diagnosed with a proper ptosis exam - ruclips.net/video/7gWSjQce3DQ/видео.html
Hello Doctor I'm 23years old.i think I have lazy eye lid. The problem is when I look downwards that time my right eyelid stay opened bit wider than left side but when I see straight it looks same but it doesn't look symmetrica according to eyelid shape. So I'm still confuse is it ptosis or not. And also I've been wearing glass from last 4-5 years it's -1 in left eye and -0.75in right eye. What should I do for it Doctor?
Hi Karjen_Doma_Lama, Sorry to hear about your problem. A proper ptosis examination is needed to determine if you have eyelid ptosis or a lazy eye. You can refer to this video on how I diagnose, and treat eyelid ptosis in my practice - ruclips.net/video/7gWSjQce3DQ/видео.html
I had this surgery when i was 8 and one 2 weeks ago. And it has not worked. Im recovering rn and i still see no result. Maybe thats jus me or in general? But i personally wouldnt recommend it becsusr it made my eye look wayy worse.
Hi, You should be following up with your surgeon. Since eyelid ptosis surgery is very precise, sometimes additional enhancement is needed. If your surgeon is experienced in eyelid ptosis correction, they would know this, and should have a revision policy in place. I hope this helps you.
I don't think I have Ptosis because mine doesn't look that bad. I can at least blink or press my eyelid back into a fold and it can last until I wake up the next day. Maybe this happens from not getting enough sleep.
Hi Mason S, If you would like to know for certain, you need to see an oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon. I do perform a ptosis exam that measures muscle function, which can determine your degree of ptosis. I hope this helps you.
Hi +Xoch Gabriela, The extent of your injury would have to be examined before coming up with a cost for surgery. Addressing a droopy eyelid is not a generic procedure, so I would need to see what happened to you, and what it would take to fix before coming up with a cost. I hope this helps you.
Hi b hernandez, Since a lazy eyelid is due to a stretched or detached muscle called the levator muscle that lifts the upper eyelid, the only way to shorten or reattach that muscle, or the shorten the muscles attached to it, is through ptosis correction surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hello doctor I'm PRAVEEN age - 20 INDIA Chennai Till 2021 April i didn't have this droopy eyelid after April month i started using Nivea face cream like i used it more 3 times a day after that slowly i noticed this droopy eyelid. Do u think this droopy eyelid caused because of Nivea cream?? And i went to nerve specialist doctor There i took blood test nerve test everything and there was no problem on my eyes and nerves. So doctor gave me GRAVITOR tablets after taking that also it didn't change only my body weight increased i don't know what to do now at this age I'm suffering a lot because of this i cannot stand for photos my face is looking so bad because of this
Hi Praveen, Sorry to hear about your problem. An over-the-counter cream is not going to cause eyelid ptosis. Eyelid ptosis at your age may be caused by weakened eyelid muscle, or an injury to the muscle, or a nerve/neurological condition that you seemed to have ruled out with your doctor already. You can refer to this video about how the more direct causes of eyelid ptosis are diagnosed, and treated - ruclips.net/video/7gWSjQce3DQ/видео.html
Hi doc.. I too have my eyes of different size.. I've been using spectacle for 10 years as I have a short sight. This got much visible for 2-3 years. This make me feels like my pupils are dislocated. Is surgery the only cure for this.?
Hi sruthy unni, Having eyes of different sizes could be natural facial asymmetry, unless there is sudden swelling that caused the issue. As I have not examined your eyes, I can't recommend treatment, or if treatment is needed at all. If you can't see us for a diagnosis, I suggest you see a local doctor for an examination. I hope this helps you.
hi doctor . when i was 18 my left eye became lazy .but i didn't have that problem when i was much younger . but i want to ask you if sleeping on one side for too ling time (years) can cause that problem? thank you
Hi Yahya free knight , Sleeping on one side will not cause your eyelid to droop. You will however, need to consult an ophthalmologist, neuro-ophthalmologist, or an oculofacial/oculoplastic surgeon to diagnose the cause of a droopy eyelid, otherwise known as eyelid ptosis. I hope you can get the cause diagnosed soon.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. thank you Dr i just want to say that my eye not too lazy i mean and this few years it became better than when i was 18 19 . i also do some exercises to it and thank you Dr
Hi Doctor, i have mgjw since birth on the left eye with ptosis. i estimate that the ptosis ist about 2-3 mm by straightforward gaze. is it possible to lift the eyelid for 2 mm or is by such scale a surgery not promissing? will the white on the eyeball after that be more noticeable ? thank you in advance.
Hi kadi diwup, Yes, lifting the eyelid 2 mm is definitely possible. You will see more of the white part of your eye, or the sclera, after surgery. Look for a good oculofacial/oculoplastic surgeon for ptosis correction surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Thank you Doctor for your answer. I assume you mean more sclera when chewing, so that the jaw winking effect will be more noticable when eating, right`?
I'm not sure what you mean by when chewing, but you asked if the white part of the eye will be more noticeable. The white part of the eye is called the sclera, and more if it, as well as the pupil (dark part of the eye) can be seen after ptosis correction surgery.
Hi Lalo Jimenez, Ptosis correction surgery has to be done by an oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon as it is a specialized procedure, and it normally takes between 1-2 hours. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi ahmad daudnagar, If you are asking if ptosis surgery is permanent, usually more than one surgery is needed in a lifetime. Keep in mind that the levator muscle is activated thousands of times a day, every day with blinking. You can refer to this video about it - ruclips.net/video/4FHEWqPKZMU/видео.html
Hi doctor, it’s been about a year since I have one of my eyes that’s getting bigger and the other one smaller, it makes my face look so weird and sometimes it’s so difficult to be in the sun without sunglasses. I don’t know what to do😭
Hi Neika Thara, Sorry to hear that, but the first thing you need to do is have the cause diagnosed with a proper examination. I hope you understand that I can't diagnose the cause with just your short description. If you can't come see us for a diagnosis, you can see a local ophthalmologist. I hope this helps you.
my husband just went to the doctors and found out that he had this "Strabismus Exophoria" in the eyes. Aka lazy eye? with this condition can it still be corrected? can he still pursue his dream career of bei g a pilot? pls tell me that theres a cure n remedý for this! it means the world to him
Hi TNS ACE, Sorry to hear about your problem. You may have acquired eyelid ptosis, meaning the muscle that lifts your eyelid may have stretched or detached with time, or with an injury. It is not too late to have this corrected as people older and younger than you can have this condition. I suggest you see an ophthalmologist, or an oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon for a proper diagnosis. The corrective surgery would need to be done by an oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon as it is highly specialized. I hope this helps you.
Hi D3nno, Bell's palsy may cause some drooping over the eyelid due to the brow drooping over it, but it will not cause eyelid ptosis where the muscle lifting the eyelid is weakened or stretched. I hope this clarifies things for you.
My eye lid is slightly lower than my right...and my age is 16.. it's not that small but ..Is the operation going to be serious and if done will it solve the issue permanently.
Hi Abhilash Madhav.M, Your eyelid would have to be physically examined by an eyelid specialist to make the determination. Eyelids are naturally asymmetric, but if there is a difference of more than 1-2mm in height between the two eyelids, you may have ptosis. The nature of ptosis being an underdeveloped eyelid muscle may require more than one corrective eyelid surgery in your lifetime, but only a physical exam with an oculofacial/oculoplastic surgeon, or a ophthalmologist can make that determination. A plastic or cosmetic surgeon who does not specialize in the eyelids may misdiagnose the muscle problem as extra skin, so it is best to see an eyelid specialist. I hope this clarifies things for you, and you can get it checked out soon.
Hello Doctor Amiya Prasad, I've another doubt and I hope you will clarify. Some times I don't feel that my left eye is slightly smaller than right eye which is (Ptosis) as you've told. When I look in the mirror straight , I find either of my eyes are not different...but when I look a little down like when I take a selfy or something..it appears like the left eye is slightly smaller than the right. Whenever I bend over to read I can see the hairs of my eyelid interrupting for it being unusually visible which is quite annoying. So Doctor, what can be the reason and do I need to fix it as my parents contradict to my opinion and believe that its even and not to worry about when I show them. I didn't experience the same in my childhood but now I'm getting concerned about it.Please help
Hi Occifer Teetus, Yes, with local anesthesia and LITE IV sedation, you are asleep during surgery, and not feeling anything, but we can wake you up after surgery so you can see the results of the surgery for yourself while still in the operating room. Hi RJ OTOME, If you were born with ptosis, it was from an eyelid muscle that was not fully formed or weak. If you are feeling pain, I suggest you see an ophthalmologist for a diagnosis. The muscle can be corrected by an oculofacial/oculoplastic surgeon. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi, If you are currently on other medications, as well as have high anxiety and stress, then these may be contributing to sexual issues, not just hair loss medication and supplements. I hope this clarifies things for you.
I had my ptosis correction surgery of left eye about a year ago. But the surgery kinda got failed. I had 5mm height of ptosis but now the surgery had lifted eyelid only 1 mm. The doctors are recommending another surgery. But i am not sure if it will work out. I am 22 years old now. What should i do? Should i have another surgery?
Hi Dharma Raj Bhusal, Ptosis surgery is highly specialized and is performed by oculofacial/oculoplastic surgeons. They operate on the levator muscle which lifts the upper eyelid. This is a highly specialized procedure that general, plastic, or cosmetic surgeons are not trained to do. If you got only 1mm of difference after surgery, the muscle may not have been addressed properly, or at all. While the nature of ptosis surgery does occasionally require revision, getting only 1mm of difference sounds like it wasn't performed properly. Seek an oculofacial or oculoplastic surgeon for further examination and to discuss a revision. I hope this helps you.
The surgery is Levetor resection and the doctor who performed the surgery was also oculoplastic surgeon. She said that we cant be so sure if the surgery works on everyone or get the successful result. She said this procedure didn't work on me.So she is suggesting operation from outside of my eyelid that is "creasing". She also said that even after doing this there is no guaranty that we get the desired result. In this situation what should I do?
Hi Dharma Raj Bhusal, I suggest you seek another opinion from another oculoplastic surgeon. It is always best to seek a second opinion before definitely deciding on a procedure. I can't give a specific recommendation for you unless I physically examine your eyelid. I hope this helps.
Hi abu saker, I normally treat lazy eyes which are visible all the time. If you have a lazy eye that happens only sometimes, I suggest you see an ophthalmologist for a diagnosis about the cause.
Hello dr I do have a good Bright white eyes but I started to have dull, redlines as well as double vision and ptosis in which I don't HV this at all I just started it recently and it was cause by sever headache in which I don't know how I got it the headache goes down to my eyes ears teeth etc, I don't know what's wrong with me pls dr can you help me out pls do reply
Hi Halima Yusuf, Sorry to hear about your problem. If you have sudden ptosis along with headaches and vision problems, you need to see a neurologist or neuro ophthalmologist as soon as possible. These could be symptoms of a more serious problem, and should be properly diagnosed as soon as you can. I hope this helps you.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. thanks so much dr if I attend to meet other dr the tell me I have hormones imbalance, I ask another they told me I have prolactin hormone I am must confused
I have it a little bit in my left eye it's u see able almost but when I look close in the mirror I see it I used to not have this I also wear glasses but recently stopped too could this be reason and is surgery the only way because I'm still 14?
Hi T. Masery, You need to be assessed by an oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon, or by an ophthalmologist for eyelid ptosis. People can be born with eyelid ptosis, so it's not necessarily age-related, and surgery is the only treatment for it. I suggest you go with your parents to see one of the doctors I mentioned for a proper diagnosis before considering any treatment. I hope this helps you.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. Thank you for responding but I still wanna know could this also be reason for stop wearing my glasses I stopped wearing them almost a year now and I and I got this recently
Hi T. Masery, Stopping wearing your glasses won't cause your eyelids to droop, but drooping eyelids may have caused you to have difficulty with your vision. It is possible that drooping eyelids can obscure your vision, and you may have subconsciously raised your eyelids and eyebrows to compensate. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Do you usually get born with that or can it develop later in later in life? What may be the possible causes of this if it appears later in life? Thank you in advance.
Hi Marianna Sunshine, Eyelid ptosis can happen at birth due to a defective levator muscle called congenital ptosis, or happen later in life as the muscle stretches or detaches due to aging called acquired ptosis. These two types of eyelid ptosis may require different corrective surgery performed by an oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Alaina, It is possible to have temporary droopy eyelids just soon after waking up. If you do have problems raising your eyelids at later times of the day, you may want to consider a ptosis exam to measure muscle function. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi +Manny Obregon, Crossed eyes are caused by a misalignment of the eye muscles. You can have it treated by an ophthalmologist who specializes in strabismus. I hope this helps you.
Hi Narayan Dey, If you have eyelid ptosis, surgery is the only treatment. It's important to be evaluated by a ophthalmologist or an oculoplastic surgeon for eyelid ptosis, as it's not treated by general cosmetic or plastic surgeons. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hey sanskar here from past few months i am noticing that my one eye is being small than the other what can be the reason my eyelid is quite fine but when I have seen my photo I noticed that my one eye look small not just full opened

Hi alfred joseph macaraeg, No, you don't feel anything during surgery. We do this under local anesthesia with LITE IV sedation. The area is made completely numb. We do have ptosis patients open and close their eyes toward the end of surgery and sit them up to ensure symmetry, but even then they don't feel anything. I hope this clarifies things for you.
I have had lazy eye from child nothing was done with it I used to blink a lot to to refocus , took till secondary school get glasses I'm short sighted but in 50"s now the eye lid has become droopy I feel it impatient sight . Indignity of eye test and tape eye open . Not been offered surgery or told can be put right ? Or cost if go private ? I sometimes get like gel substance on lazy eye is this normal ?
Hi +christine ruscoe, An optician might refer you to a specialist, but an eye or eyelid surgery specialist are more the scope of an ophthalmologist or oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon. I hope this clarifies things for you.

It does. It takes about a dozen or so muscles just to open an eye.
It’s 2023 and they still haven’t got a solution to this problem without surgery
Hi Lorenzo Fiore,
Surgery is the only way to address a stretched, detached, or defective levator muscle. General plastic, and cosmetic surgeons aren't trained for this highly precise surgery, so leaving it to technology alone is not practical, or possible. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi ZDEX,
Sorry to hear about your problem.
Wow, I love your commitment dude, 8 years later still replying.
I had this surgery done when I was 14 years old back in 1999 but the issue i face now due to the lifted muscle is one eye blinks normal while the effected eye blinks half way or not at all. I also sleep with one eye open as a result of the surgery and end up with one dry eye.
Hi One Man On Fire,
When people have ptosis at a young age, and have it surgically corrected, they often need correction again later in life.

I’m not sure how my case relates here,
but I’m freaking out.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. Thank you!

Hi, im 14 years old and i have Ptosis. I'm not aloud surgery because my vision is good and the surgeon said my ptosis will recover when i grow. I'm afraid it won't happen, so have you got any tips or suggestions to overcome ptosis if you can't have surgery?
Hi Ryzist ,
I think you should ask your parents to get a second opinion from on oculofacial/oculoplastic surgeon.

Hello doctor!!
I noticed that my left eyes have four eyelids and my right eye have triple eyelids.I wonder why I have this kind of eyelids?
Hi Boys with luv,
It is likely due to a weak connection between your eyelid skin and the muscle that lifts the eyelid called the levator. You can watch these videos about it:

ruclips.net/video/rtDDRHknbkc/видео.html

Hi, I've been having problems with my right eyelid drooping, and it annoys m ein pictures. I've never had drooping eyes as a child I'm pretty sure, but I've noticed this has been happening more at least 6 months now. I'm only 12 and my mom doesnt want me having any sort of surgery like this. Ive been looking everywhere on how to find a way to even out my eyes, and make them symmetrical, but I haven't found much videos. I hope you can give me advice on how to make my right eye equal to my left. And the doctor u were talking about? What's that? Is it like and eye doctor?
Hi Abby Graciie,
Sorry to hear about your problem, but a drooping eyelid needs to be examined by an experienced doctor.

Hi Vishesh Modi,
Sorry to hear that, but this needs to be properly examined to determine the cause. The issue could be the muscle that lifts the eyelid, or there could be a neurological cause. If you can't come see us for a proper examination, I suggest you see a local ophthalmologist to determine the cause. I hope this helps you.
Hi..I m suggested by my occuplastic surgeon to do eye lid tucking for my 2mm droop . I wanted to know how much effective it would be??
Hi @chammanishfaq9779,
I hope you understand that without a physical examination of your condition like your surgeon did, I do have to defer to their judgment. A raise of 2mm should make a significant improvement in your appearance, and your vision if it's affected. I hope this clarifies things for you.
No I want to ask is levator tucking procedure results in desirable outcome or not what else are the options?
Just me or your lazy eye makes your eye feel heavy sometimes and hard to open when tired
Hi 1wezza,
Eyelids in people who don't have a lazy eye may feel heavy and hard to open when tired. A diagnosis is needed to determine if you have a lazy eyelid that needs treatment. You can refer to this more recent video on who a lazy eye (eyelid ptosis) is diagnosed and treated - ruclips.net/video/7gWSjQce3DQ/видео.html
But you can fix it with exercises i guess right? I see a lot of videos on youtube
ruclips.net/video/pXVbmq-DKz0/видео.html this one i guess what do you think 🤔
Hi f_k ezezez,
No, a defective, stretched, or detached levator muscle that causes drooping in the upper eyelids cannot be strengthened or corrected with the exercises shown in that video link you sent. The video you sent is misleading because the before and after results shown in the beginning of the video were medical procedures, including surgery, performed by trained doctors, while the exercises shown are not advised or performed by those doctors. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Question, can having left eye ptosis be the cause of the appearance of cockeye or are they two totally diffrent things that dont interfere with one another
Hi Tiana Love,
Eyelid ptosis would be your eyelid drooping, while cockeyed is your eye bulging, and forcing the eyelid to retract upward, so they are completely opposite symptoms.
Hi Flower_ Angel,
If it's not present all the time, and it's hard to notice, it isn't likely to be eyelid ptosis, but probably normal eyelid asymmetry. I suggest you don't worry about it unless it becomes really noticeable most of the time, or if you feel you have to consciously raise your eyelids to see properly. I hope this helps you.

Hi k.L Jiae,
Sorry to hear that.
Hi @pinksea7399,
It is possible for temporary swelling after eyelid ptosis correction to affect the eyelid fully opening, but perhaps you misunderstood your surgeon as this does not take months to resolve.

Hi Artaee,
Sorry to hear about your problem, but it sounds like your doctor took the wrong approach due to a lack of training - drooping eyelids are caused by the eyelid muscle being defective, not extra eyelid skin.
My question:
So what I noticed was that for several sessions of 1-3 hours of covering my good eye to do daily chores or even gaming, the focus of my weaker eye increased substantially.
Is it necessary to get the surgery and does it have a major impact on my heath if i dont get the surgery ?
Hi joe ridley,
Surgery is the only treatment for eyelid ptosis. If it is not affecting your vision, and you are not consciously or subconsciously raising your eyelids, then it is not absolutely necessary. If it is affecting your vision, you should have it done. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Karjen_Doma_Lama,
Sorry to hear about your problem.
Hi,
You should be following up with your surgeon.
Hi Mason S,
If you would like to know for certain, you need to see an oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon. I do perform a ptosis exam that measures muscle function, which can determine your degree of ptosis. I hope this helps you.
Okay, thank you for the advice.
You're welcome, Mason!
I have a droopy eyelid from an accident , how much would the cost be
Hi +Xoch Gabriela,
The extent of your injury would have to be examined before coming up with a cost for surgery. Addressing a droopy eyelid is not a generic procedure, so I would need to see what happened to you, and what it would take to fix before coming up with a cost. I hope this helps you.
+Amiya Prasad, M.D. thanx so much for the quick redponse
You're welcome Xoch Gabriela
Hello sir , is there any other way to treat the lazy eyelid ?
Hi b hernandez,
Since a lazy eyelid is due to a stretched or detached muscle called the levator muscle that lifts the upper eyelid, the only way to shorten or reattach that muscle, or the shorten the muscles attached to it, is through ptosis correction surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. So glasses won’t help ?
Hi@@RisHdz,
Glasses won't lift your eyelid. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. & do you know how much it costs please lmk
Hi@@RisHdz,

Hello doctor
I'm PRAVEEN age - 20 INDIA Chennai
Till 2021 April i didn't have this droopy eyelid after April month i started using Nivea face cream like i used it more 3 times a day after that slowly i noticed this droopy eyelid.
Do u think this droopy eyelid caused because of Nivea cream??
And i went to nerve specialist doctor
There i took blood test nerve test everything and there was no problem on my eyes and nerves.
So doctor gave me GRAVITOR tablets after taking that also it didn't change only my body weight increased i don't know what to do now at this age I'm suffering a lot because of this i cannot stand for photos my face is looking so bad because of this
Hi Praveen,
Sorry to hear about your problem.
Hi sruthy unni,
Having eyes of different sizes could be natural facial asymmetry, unless there is sudden swelling that caused the issue. As I have not examined your eyes, I can't recommend treatment, or if treatment is needed at all. If you can't see us for a diagnosis, I suggest you see a local doctor for an examination. I hope this helps you.
hi doctor . when i was 18 my left eye became lazy .but i didn't have that problem when i was much younger . but i want to ask you if sleeping on one side for too ling time (years) can cause that problem? thank you
Hi Yahya free knight ,
Sleeping on one side will not cause your eyelid to droop.
Hi Doctor,
i have mgjw since birth on the left eye with ptosis. i estimate that the ptosis ist about 2-3 mm by straightforward gaze. is it possible to lift the eyelid for 2 mm or is by such scale a surgery not promissing? will the white on the eyeball after that be more noticeable ? thank you in advance.
Hi kadi diwup,
Yes, lifting the eyelid 2 mm is definitely possible.
Yes, i agree, i mean , beside this, if the winking effect will be more noticable while eating , because it will be more sclera visible after surgery.
Anyone knows how much time the surgery takes?
Hi Lalo Jimenez,
Ptosis correction surgery has to be done by an oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon as it is a specialized procedure, and it normally takes between 1-2 hours. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Sir potosis surgury ka result permanent nhi rhta h kya sir
Hi ahmad daudnagar,
If you are asking if ptosis surgery is permanent, usually more than one surgery is needed in a lifetime. Keep in mind that the levator muscle is activated thousands of times a day, every day with blinking. You can refer to this video about it - ruclips.net/video/4FHEWqPKZMU/видео.html
Humne ek bar musule surgury kryi h sir 3month pahle jo result h o bahut accha h o hmesha rhega mera ya down hojyega modrete potosis tha mujhe
Hi doctor, it’s been about a year since I have one of my eyes that’s getting bigger and the other one smaller, it makes my face look so weird and sometimes it’s so difficult to be in the sun without sunglasses. I don’t know what to do😭
Hi Neika Thara,
Sorry to hear that, but the first thing you need to do is have the cause diagnosed with a proper examination. I hope you understand that I can't diagnose the cause with just your short description. If you can't come see us for a diagnosis, you can see a local ophthalmologist. I hope this helps you.

I am 18 years old and I have a lazy eye which makes my left eye smaller than my right do you think surgery can fix this or is it too late.
Hi TNS ACE,
Sorry to hear about your problem. I hope this helps you.
ok thanks
Sir, can the lazy eye be caused by Bels Palsy?
Hi D3nno,
Bell's palsy may cause some drooping over the eyelid due to the brow drooping over it, but it will not cause eyelid ptosis where the muscle lifting the eyelid is weakened or stretched. I hope this clarifies things for you.
My eye lid is slightly lower than my right...and my age is 16.. it's not that small but ..Is the operation going to be serious and if done will it solve the issue permanently.
Hi Abhilash Madhav.M,
Your eyelid would have to be physically examined by an eyelid specialist to make the determination.
What if the lazy eye doesn't have a muscle in it...?
Will you be asleep during the surgery?
Hi Occifer Teetus,
Yes, with local anesthesia and LITE IV sedation, you are asleep during surgery, and not feeling anything, but we can wake you up after surgery so you can see the results of the surgery for yourself while still in the operating room. Hi Doctor,
I have a born ptosis. Is it pain in the eye or psychological?
Hi RJ OTOME,
If you were born with ptosis, it was from an eyelid muscle that was not fully formed or weak. If you are feeling pain, I suggest you see an ophthalmologist for a diagnosis. The muscle can be corrected by an oculofacial/oculoplastic surgeon. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi,
If you are currently on other medications, as well as have high anxiety and stress, then these may be contributing to sexual issues, not just hair loss medication and supplements.
Hi Dharma Raj Bhusal,
Ptosis surgery is highly specialized and is performed by oculofacial/oculoplastic surgeons.
Hi Dharma Raj Bhusal,
I suggest you seek another opinion from another oculoplastic surgeon. It is always best to seek a second opinion before definitely deciding on a procedure. I can't give a specific recommendation for you unless I physically examine your eyelid. I hope this helps.
OK i will go to another surgeon then. Thank you for your suggestion.

how to remove a lazy eye it happens sometime
Hi abu saker,
I normally treat lazy eyes which are visible all the time.
Hi Halima Yusuf,
Sorry to hear about your problem.
Hi Halima Yusuf,
It's important to see a neurologist for sudden ptosis, not an endocrinologist who specializes in endocrine (hormonal) system.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. alright dr. God bless
I have it a little bit in my left eye it's u see able almost but when I look close in the mirror I see it I used to not have this I also wear glasses but recently stopped too could this be reason and is surgery the only way because I'm still 14?
Hi T. Masery,
You need to be assessed by an oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon, or by an ophthalmologist for eyelid ptosis.
Hi T. Masery,
Stopping wearing your glasses won't cause your eyelids to droop, but drooping eyelids may have caused you to have difficulty with your vision. It is possible that drooping eyelids can obscure your vision, and you may have subconsciously raised your eyelids and eyebrows to compensate. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@rosienoirroberts I have exactly the same I only see it in the mirror and pictures of me
Do you usually get born with that or can it develop later in later in life? What may be the possible causes of this if it appears later in life? Thank you in advance.
Hi Marianna Sunshine,
Eyelid ptosis can happen at birth due to a defective levator muscle called congenital ptosis, or happen later in life as the muscle stretches or detaches due to aging called acquired ptosis. These two types of eyelid ptosis may require different corrective surgery performed by an oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Informative.
this only happens to me in the morning
Hi Alaina,
It is possible to have temporary droopy eyelids just soon after waking up. If you do have problems raising your eyelids at later times of the day, you may want to consider a ptosis exam to measure muscle function. I hope this clarifies things for you.
how do u fix a eye that's cross
Hi +Manny Obregon,
Crossed eyes are caused by a misalignment of the eye muscles. You can have it treated by an ophthalmologist who specializes in strabismus. I hope this helps you.
ok thanks a lot doctor
You're welcome dhillon sabb dhillon sabb!
Can not wearing prescription glasses cause this?
Hi Kylie Jenner,
No, ptosis is caused by a weak eyelid muscle, not weak eye muscles. I hope this clarifies things for you.
where U from
Hi dhillon sabb dhillon sabb,
I practice in New York City and Long Island.
Hello doctor i want to know that without surgery is it possible to fix my eyes??
Hi Narayan Dey,
If you have eyelid ptosis, surgery is the only treatment.
Hi Sanskar Bansal,
Sorry to hear about your problem, but I can't give a reason without properly examining your eyelids. You can refer to these more recent videos on how eyelid ptosis is diagnosed and treated; and possible causes of uneven eyelids:

does the surgery hurt???
Hi alfred joseph macaraeg,
No, you don't feel anything during surgery. We do this under local anesthesia with LITE IV sedation. The area is made completely numb. We do have ptosis patients open and close their eyes toward the end of surgery and sit them up to ensure symmetry, but even then they don't feel anything. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. how long does the procedure gonna take?
Ptosis correction surgery normally takes 1-2 hours.
But I like my 'stoned' eye
I dont it's a dead giveaway when I wanna be discreet, I get red eyes, bags under my eyes and a lazy eye lid
People will have surgery for anything! Sheesh
But you can have not ptosis but myasthenia. It the same dropped eyelid, but u cannot do surgery then.
im 12 years old and has droopy eyelid
I have had lazy eye from child nothing was done with it I used to blink a lot to to refocus , took till secondary school get glasses I'm short sighted but in 50"s now the eye lid has become droopy I feel it impatient sight . Indignity of eye test and tape eye open .
Not been offered surgery or told can be put right ? Or cost if go private ?
I sometimes get like gel substance on lazy eye is this normal ?
Will optician refer for eye lid lift
Hi +christine ruscoe,
An optician might refer you to a specialist, but an eye or eyelid surgery specialist are more the scope of an ophthalmologist or oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon. I hope this clarifies things for you.
