@@TheArklyte the progenitor hive can also build offspring hive nests as a holding building, so as long as one of them is the overlord and the other is the vassal, it can work either way that the vassal could get holding buildings of the other's type
@@TheArklyte you would have to make a custom origin with both effects. Would make getting colonies up and running quite challenging as each world would need 2 buildings just to perform normally.
Lathrix if you're interested you can do you are doomed playthrough Step 1: Go down the psionic route Step 2: Become the Crisis Step 3: Get to Crisis level 5 Step 4: End The Cycle Step 5: Wait for The Reckoning The reason why this is a doomed playthrough is because you'll be reset back to the start of the playthrough with no chance of being bailed out by a federation (which is what happened last time you triggered the Reckoning) due to the entire galaxy being at war with you. This also takes advantage of the fact that the spawn chance for the End The Cycle is increased to 10% once you reach Crisis level 5.
The reason End of the Cycle is increased is because there's no realistic way you'd spend 100 years as the crisis. You'd already have won or lost by then. So the whole thing is nothing but bonuses with no consequences

Then they joined up with an ancient galaxy ending machine race and were the bad guys.
Love these videos Lathrix, Though I did have an idea for a challenge run of sorts with the following rules: 1. Late to the party: For the first 10 years of the game you cannot leave your home system with any ships. 2. Random empire: The empire you play is chosen randomly 3. Slow Burn: May only claim one system per year. 4. Always in order: Your total fleet can never exceed your fleet capacity, If it does you must destroy the ships that take you over the limit.
The Offspring ships remind me of the super old and early stages of Stellaris when you could make the emperor flagship corvettes, destroyers and etc. and all it costed was extra minerals, thats how far back when ships just cost minerals to build.
I do enjoy the building of the empire, but it's quite nice to see when your choices have created the leaders that make the whole acceleration process move along briskly. And of course, your children have the great big improved ships that Daddy gifted them, to go with their education. Love these runs, always a pleasure to see something new.
The unbidden invaded the galaxy, the golem took great offence, this was its prey to devour. the golem destroyed its old home to conquer the unbidden in theirs. They came for food, and found a rock to be their undoing.

Progenetor hive is an incredible origin if you also collect vassals, since you can build a Splinter Hive on vassal worlds, giving +2 pop assembly on the capital. By 2250, along with clone vats and the progenetor assembly building, i was getting +12 assembly on my capital
Yeah the Unbidden have been ruthless with their spawn timing recently, I had a game where they spawned without warning entirely. Just "pop" there they are.
This has been a really good playthrough! I'd really like to see Lathrix do a Here be Dragons reanimators build where the goal is to have all the megafauna at some point

1:27:20 the outposts are likely coming back due to the changes to how regen on ships work in 3.4, they now regen in combat as well as outside of it, which likely means they kept regening hull above the threshold to fight, fire off a shot or 2, and then get slapped back down. This has kinda buffed devouring swarms, which may have contributed to how good you did.
that change has also made Leviathans kinda terrifying lol. Took on Shard with a fleet of about 25k~ that was designed to hard counter, and she just slowly and methodically tore apart my whole fleet because once it was half dead they just couldn't pierce that regen.

The pulling everything back for the final phase of the engine was pretty damn cool
