    Have u tried laminated paper for a more permanent solution? I wonder how well it would diffuse the light

    • @TheJacklwilliams
      @TheJacklwilliams Год назад +3

      As I begin, travelling down this path, to enhance my surroundings, etc… THIS is the number one question and I’m finding, not only does the material matter, we want smooth diffusion that just blends the led’s, but what LED’s we are using. Aka, if you change brand/number of led’s, etc… what worked for one, may not work for the other. Fun stuff.

    • @Leif_YT
      @Leif_YT Год назад +5

      @@TheJacklwilliams One rule of thumb that "kind of" works with many diffusing materials is that the led to diffusor distance should be a big as the distance between each LEDs. At least for the common style if the light isn't redirected. With some materials you can get much closer, but for diy projects that rule is a good start.

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  Год назад +2

      Thanks so much for watching and I have not tried laminated paper! That is a good idea though! I might have to try it! And yes as others mentioned already, finding a good diffuser material that works for your specific leds and space is often times the hardest part of any project!

      You can connect a WLED ESP32 to 2 seperate strips max, if you meant to extend it, you just solder the 3 pins together and make sure your power is enough.

      I would still prefer a normal diffuser channel over this but I have used paper in a few other projects and have never had any issues. (not to say something couldn't happen) But I also only have the lights turned on when I'm in the room and I don't really have a need to turn them on super bright (I have the WLED brightness limiter set to about 2000mA and this is more than enough to create the look I'm going for)
