    Just to clarify: I'm not advocating spending all of your currency every second to min/max future profits. It can be as simple as buying 1-2 divines when you go to bed the first night of league start and then selling them for 2-3x in the morning when you wake up to accelerate your league start. This is just a strategic layer you can weave into how you think about holding your currency.
    Also, many builds have certain plateaus regarding farming quicker versus investment. By definition (in my opinion) a good league starter can do more core content in the game for less than 5 divines invested. After that there is a rapid drop-off in ROI for farming speed.
    As with real life, spend your money how you see fit but it's also important to know how to leverage interest and reliable instrument appreciation to make your money better for you.

    Tailoring orbs and Tempering orb early investment is a pretty great investment. Those mirror crafts are rich AF.

    The opportunity cost is pretty high though early league. It is usually better to invest into that 6 link with chaos res and supression or whatever right away than do a longterm investment or saving up with a mirror shard that doubles your money 1 month later (imho). I would sell a shard in an instant if it gets me that juicy upgrade, don't care what is in 1 month. An empty currency tab in the first week of the league means you are using your ressources to progress in the game. Two months later you might be playing pogwarts or Elden Ring and don't care about your divine count who knows xd

      @subtractem  Год назад +7

      Actually this is exactly how the richest people in the game play but taken to the extreme. As long as your build is good enough to get the fundamental currency, doing arbitrage and low to mid end currency is how you generate mirrors in the first week.
      Having a strong solid build to just run maps is nice but it's not where the real money is.

    I know the video is about currency flipping and investing, but some other things I like to try and buy super early day 1 if possible, is unnatural instinct, a few level 1 enlightens to level passively while I am leveling my character. Those are two of the first things I usually do when I get my character to a place it can farm comfortably. These are very cheap on day 1 and almost instantly go up as the days pass and people start to acquire more and more currency plus almost every build in the game will or can use both of these items. Great investment in my opinion.

    Love that strat. No one can be pissed at this advice as it pertains to early League currency makers/investments. Not tilting people when your video temporarily loses them profits. Due to the Subtractum effect.

    There are uniques that do this too. I nabbed a stasis prison for 20div pretty early league. They're going for 70-100div now depending on the day. In standard they're normally worth about a mirror although they've dipped recently.

  • @lordad
    @lordad Год назад +2

    Not really sold on investing early into currency . PoE is build in a way that farming T16 juiced content fast drowns you in money. So lets say you invest 500 chaos early in mirror shards that 3 weeks later are worth 2000 chaos... so you made 1500 chaos profit of 500 investment which isnt all that much.... thats like + 6 divines in 3 weeks >-< now if you go invest into f.e Guardian maps + scarabs that for me longterm have shown average profit of 72c per map (over sample size of 200+) that 500chaos invested into Guardian maps and scarabs returns with 2400chaos profit. And it doesnt take 3 weeks to clear 33 Guardian maps. So i feel like investing into mapping will always be more profitable than just investing into currency.

    • @subtractem
      @subtractem  Год назад +4

      The big difference is time. This strategy isn't for folks that are grinding 8 hours a day efficiently. Most players barely alch and go 4-5 maps an hour and only play 2-3 hours a day. For them this would generate drastically more currency in the long run than actually mapping.

    Not currency, but one of the best returns I ever made was buying double corrupt temples week 1 (buy for 10-15c) which then sell for 10x+ that a week or two later.

    • @subtractem
      @subtractem  Год назад +1

      Yep! Same principle, crafters/rich people value things that push builds to their limit much more in the second half of the league (similar Aisling slams etc).

    • @NicktheSecondCat
      @NicktheSecondCat Год назад

      @@subtractem what shocked me is that it wasn't even the second half of the league... it was just the second week. I imagine Aisling prices are probably matched with corruption temples, but you can't save Aislings.
      This got around some of the opportunity cost this type of investment typically entails. If you can go hard opening weekend, buy 20-30 temples, then play only an hour or two or three each day for the next week, your money will grow immensely by the time the next weekend rolls around. It's a fast enough growth to warrant the investment in the first few days, but it plateaus rather quickly so you should sell by week 3 at the latest.

    I've been loving this series, but this one was a miss for me. Two pretty important factors to weigh weren't really discussed. First of all, sticking a large amount of currency into currency to sit on is money that would otherwise be going into your build. Investing to make your build clear and farm faster will often make you more money over time than buying mirror shards and sitting on them. Similarly, there was no discussion of if the items talked about are actually appreciating, or if the currencies that you are comparing them all to are just depreciating. Is the lesson to buy certain currencies, or to not hold on to chaos late in the league.

    And these folks playing 4 maps an hour have multiple mirror shards worth of currency spare to throw around into "NFI's"

    I think you might need to pin a comment regarding investing into currency vs your build.
    Imo it depends on what your farming strategy is and your plans for your league starter build. If you're smashing out low difficulty strats like endless heist, white map essences, blighted maps etc you will max out your build for that content very easily and then can save and invest for when you roll a new character for higher difficulty strats

  • @Ben-nx2mz

    I think if you are a super casual player this might be a good thing to do, but i would rather invest in to my build to clear faster and make much more currency that way.

    • @subtractem
      @subtractem  Год назад +1

      There is a ceiling to how much investment makes your build clear faster, after that the only option to make your currency work for you is some sort of investment. The most advanced players will even day trade with the fluctuating international market to leverage differing demands across continents. This is a good strategy for both beginners and the most advanced (but they already know).

    the problem is if you are one of the people that get 400c+ in the first week (technicly even more becasue you probably invest into your build first
    you are the 1% of players and it will not be realisticly doable for many people that have Real life things to do (work/school)

    • @subtractem
      @subtractem  Год назад +1

      That's why I also highlighted that buying mirror shards halfway into the league is still good. If you're a slow player but don't spend efficiently, just buying 1-2 mirror shards at 7 divines each can double a couple weeks later.

    • @subtractem
      @subtractem  Год назад

      It's about the amount of investment. After the first 5-10 divines most people don't farm any faster. Many league starters hit their first farming plateau in 1-3 divines. After that you're better off making your money work for you.

    Let me tell you, your divine orbs at 1 month into the league are worth more than if you get 2x from mirror shards a month later. Inflation was always a thing and it speeds up after first month. You will be at 0 or at loss, so theres no point in doing that. Unless you are just here for crafting or something, playing the game as it should be.

    • @subtractem
      @subtractem  Год назад +1

      Inflation has actually stabilized quite a bit the past couple leagues as player consumption increases to balance it. The value of chaos has a floor because it has tangible value. What you said, luckily, isn't true due to how currency works in this game.
