When I was in undergrad the most helpful thing I learned in starting in internships and after getting my degree was that social work is the long-term commitment of learning on-site. All of that experience collectively adds up and up and is what the dream jobs look for in applicants. Now that I am an MSW student (and 5+ years in the field) I have now entered Macro social work, but I still find all the clinical and licensure information so helpful for students (especially clinical students).
Recently just graduated n I'm struggling to find work. Mostly w the pay & I know were advised to steer our focus away from that but rather look at the opportunities but I really didn't know what I was getting into, I don't think I can afford my bills and I'll update if I find a job. Also using indeed, government/county sites. ** I love social working, unfortunately our pay is just very low and too competitive mostly without a masters or licensing. So if you're going into the field, keep in mind your gonna want to continue after a bsw or some kind of licensure of something else.
Just graduated with my Bachelors and got offered a Job only paying 35K. Didn’t want to work for CPS, so I got my CDL and drive trucks making 50K. Will go back to school and get a degree in Logistics.
@@weightlossandmoneyjourney9051 My pay just went up to 68K. I have a friend who just graduated with his masters and only making 50K. That is with an LMSW. He's going for his LMSW, but that's going to take him another two years. Meanwhile, i'll be making around 80 to 90 by then once I can get on with Walmart.
@@DJGENOTYPE they are offering 60k for newbies which I am but if you have experience 80k that is a extremely high range the 80k most indeed posts are 60 to 65
I clicked on this so fast! Thank you for this!! I'm also in the MSW program about to do my internship in the summer but due to Covid it's been difficult finding placements.
I graduate in December with my BSW. My SWK490 Paid Practicum with CPS Investigation Unit begins August 19th. I’m sooooooooo pumped and ecstatic. Those who pray, please pray I keep an open mind and that I don’t become jaded! ❤️ Lauren, you’ve been such an inspiration. I thank you from the bottom of my heart! I begin my advanced standing MSW program in January’25 so I’m well on my way - here we go! ❤❤❤
I really want to get into to social work but I'm huge on wanting work life balance. I hate working past 5 pm and I would like to work from home. Is that gonna be a bit of a long shot if I get a bsw in social work?
Thanks for the info! I've been working as a housing case worker in DC for a little over a year. I got declined for my Master's social work program :( so I'm focusing on "moving up" on my entry level job for now (hoping to get some feedback so I can get accepted next year). Speaking of population, I've been working with African American single mothers; I love them, but I still dream of helping migrants from Latin American countries (my parents are Salvadoran).
I am currently a case manager at a shelter with adults and elderly with sever mental health, but I’ve always had a passion to become a school Social worker I’ve always worked with kids (elementary & middle) and I am currently a student entering my senior field but I do want to apply to a school in my area because they are seeking a school social and I just want to know should I wait until I graduate and receive my degree. I know I will need my degree but I kinda want to take a leap of faith.
I am so nervous. I just finished my A. A degree and transferred to a BSW w/ an accredited university. I really hope that I can make a true, long-lasting impact. Do you have any advice? I've always thought I wanted to get my LCSW, but I worry I won't make it. But, I know to be my best and to utilize my full potential the way I dream of; I need those credentials, and part of me feels like I will never give up because I want it that bad!!!
New subscriber here ! I’m in college undeclared trying to figure out what interests me . I took several test and social work seems to be one of the many great fits for me. Do you have a how do you know social work is for you or something like that video?
Hi I just graduated with my BSW MAY 7TH! its been about 2 months I have not found a full time job in social work, I need help. I was offer a summer youth coordinator position
Thank you sooo much for making this video! Since I am a senior in the BSW program I have been searching for this topic! :) Do you think I should take the LSW before I search for jobs or just look for ones that don’t require it?
Yes but only get a MBA if you know you need it for a job. MBA degrees are very saturated in the work force. Also make sure it’s from a respected university, this is very important for a MBA. If you can see yourself doing all the math classes and enjoy business, then I say go for it!
