In my 205 psychology class my professor showed us a graph that showed as the pollution increases in China, and other countries with many factories and poor air quality, that the cases of autism are also higher. Keeping in mind that correlation is not causation, it suggests that the environment has a stronger effect than people realize. Also people with high functioning Autism have what is called “hyper-focus” where they will devote all their attention to 1 topic for long periods of time, which makes them favorable employees in computer sciences as they are able to find errors and work faster than many other people can.
It's been suggested that people who live near areas with high pollution aren't more likely to have autism, but people with autism who live in these areas are less likely to be undiagnosed (it's common for people with mild autism to go their whole lives without a diagnosis since they can appear so "normal"). Since polluted areas generally have more people, noise, smells etc. which can be very stressful for an autistic person, and since stress brings out autistic symptoms, they will be more likely to be referred for an assessment. They are much more likely to have their autistic traits noticed by teachers/doctors who will have had more experience with people diagnosed with mild autism, whereas professionals who haven't had experience with them are more likely to assume the child/patient is a little quirky

I believe she’s moderately autistic, sort of forget, because she is completely independent. Literally staff is just there to make sure she is safe and gets her daily needs met, i.e. help her cook meals, make sure she showers, brushes her teeth, stays happy and hydrated. She does everything on her own, just needs prompting and someone to be around for company. She absolutely loves her independence, though. Most of my shifts consist of sitting away from her because she just wants to do puzzles alone, in a quiet environment. Don’t get me wrong, she doesn’t follow social norms that well because she doesn’t entirely see where she fits in and is shy, but will speak if spoken to, if she wants. The thing that Joe mentioned about the guy molding how 157 looks like to him is actually called Synesthesia, it’s a trait/skill/condition that some people have that has their senses crossed so some people can see colours in music, time has different shapes, numbers and words have tastes etc and the properties never ever change. Synesthesia has been proven to be at least 3 times as common in people with autism, and attention to detail and sensory overload occur in both.
I have autism, and my mother thinks she cured my Autism, and all she thinks is that it's all in my personality thinking, and that she thought I kept doing repetitive things by choice, and to tell you the truth I kept doing because it was involuntary... And walking back and forth was one of my repetitive traits of autism, so I just kept walking around the house do other repetitive things, but she kept telling me to stop and stop and she even yelled at me numerous times, and whenever I my family was invited to go to a friend's party, my mom kept telling me to behave, or Don't act wierd, and even told me to act normal, and it wasn't just my mom, my siblings also didn't want to acknowledge or embrace my Autism, sometimes when ever I lash out they'd tell me that I'm crazy or they'd even call me a psychopath and that I belong to a mental hospital or a asylum, so I grew up getting called a crazy person, and when I was in high school, I had a crush on this girl, she was out of my league and was so beautiful, it took me 2 months to approach her and when I first talked to her she seemed really nice, and after 2 weeks she started to ignore me, she kept avoiding me and I kept liking her more, it was hard for me to know if she liked me or not, so I kept liking her and she told her friends I was wierd, then other people at school started to know about this, then bit by bit, she was ruining my reputation at school and then some other girls started to avoid me, then some girls became a group that avoided me, and next my best friend since middle school started to avoid me as well, by the time I got to college I failed my 1st semester, and as for my 2nd semester I also failed, then I realized that autism affects the learning process of the brain, so... I began to realize that I couldn't learn like a normal person would, because at college it's all about regular education, it was difficult for someone like me to learn the same way a normal person would... To be born with autism is to be born into a life filled with rejection, depression, social isolation, not being acknowledged by others and criticism....
My foster brother is autistic, probably because his mom drank and smoked when she was pregnant. It sucks because she sees him as flawed and she really thinks there's a cure for it. My bro gets therapy for most days of the week so that when he goes into preschool and onward he'll be at the level of other kids. I hope we get custody 😔😔
Great video guys! This is the first video I have seen of you and I subbed immediately afterwards! I really like the vibes I get from you while discussing these topics. I have ASD (was diagnosed as highfunctioning autism when I was 7) along with depression and anxiety. But unlike most people with autism, my special interest (besides video games and stuff) is.. people. How people think, feel, act. Mental health stuff. I have always been careful with what I say to people, and only took things literally most of the time when I was small. Never speaking bluntly, which I only do when I'm really furious, and that rarely ever happen. I have always been scared of making people angry or sad. So when I started preschool and saw kids teasing each other (on a more serious level, but not bullying) I was thinking "But wait.. isn't it obvious that you should be kind and considerate to others? Are they dumb? No.. we are still kids, they will learn." I later went to groups for people with autism, most of them are sadly gone, even though they were kinda bad for me. But each time I got bullied or something else happened, I just got "They have autism, and they can't help the fact that they don't understand." It was frustrating, but so is the ignorance in society in general. I might also be a HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) so I'm both overwhelmed with impressions I can't ignore or filter, but also peoples' feelings. It's crippling me. I couldn't even be with my classmates to cook in junior high because of the rush everyone seemed to be in. I only made the tables on holidays, which became my thing there. Anyway, I feel blessed each time I see people discuss topics like this without assuming too much beforehand. Thank you for giving me more hope!
Autism is a bit different for every person with it because everyone's brain is a little different from everyone else's and autism is a neurological disorder. The best way I know how to describe it is like a different wiring of the brain than normal. So, usually, someone with autism, like myself, isn't going to be less smart or more smart than someone without it. It's just that their behavior is going to be different and they'll seem more odd to someone without autism. Hyper fixation is a behavioral trait commonly found in those with autism, and it can cause them to be really into something (like math or anything really) so it can drive someone to be really knowledgeable in a certain field but it doesn't really mean they're smarter or dumber than anyone else. Just different. That's why social interaction is more difficult for us, because our behavior is not of the norm and isn't something easily or healthily changed.
Hey JKNews! I've been watching y'all for about 4years now. I just wanted to thank y'all for not making fun of children or adults with Autism. My son unfortunately was diagnosed with this disorder. He's only 5 but is full of smiles and laughter. He's the little man in the blue t on my profile picture. Anyways keep it up!
I don’t know what David’s problem is but the Korean drama was amazing. I have a Austin sister who is only 7 and me and my mom both watched it. We thought it was really good since it actually portrayed autism pretty well. There are different types of autistic people and I think David might have only met one kind that’s why he thinks it was bad. It actually portrayed autism pretty well.
a good example of helping those on the spectrum is speech therapy helping them with social cues like looking at people in the face when theyre talking for a certain amount of time. Just making sure they can appear and function as "normal" social people and they start as young as almost a year old and up. I've seen children with parents who spoke spanish and he was also nonverbal so he learned spanish sign language with the main goal of social cues and learning language. It's actually fucking wild tbh to see the variations between people.
Actually the practice of training individuals with ASD is highly debated in the ASD\mental health community. This is because at the surface it looks perfectly good, being able to communicate is highly beneficial for the individual with ASD and everyone who works with them, same goes for training\teaching life skills. The problem comes when you go a little deeper though. Many wish to teach those of us with ASD to mask. Masking is when you essentially do your absolute best to appear as neurotypical as possible by suppressing "unwanted" behaviors. Unwanted behaviours typically being anything we with ASD do naturally, such as stimming. On one hand it is understandable, some stimming behavior can do more harm than good such as inflicting self harm by hitting yourself. Then you have "professionals" who not only want to eliminate or at least minimize that harmful behavior as much as possible but also want to do the same for nonharmful behavior such as hand flapping because it is "unusual" and therefore "unwanted". Masking can arguably help in situations, such as when you are out in public. People can understandably become nervous when a stranger walking towards them make "unusual" sounds and flap their hands. A big problem though is that we are trained to always have the mask on, to always avoid our preferred behaviour, and that leads to burnout which in turn can lead down a dangerous road. Plus in my opinion some of the social therapy\training is useless. For example you can train a kid with ASD to initiate conversation such as saying "Hello my name is Blank. What is yours?" On a fair amount of occasions though the kid may leave immediately after saying it because they were just trained to say that to strangers and other times the conversation never develops due to either the neurotypical, the kid with ASD, or a lot of times both not communicating properly. Its found in studies and experienced by many with ASD that face to face communication is difficult with many neurotypical people due to those people having biases\preconceived prejudice about the individual with ASD so they don't exactly try to hold a conversation. Meanwhile the individual with ASD who already has trouble making conversation is now expected to hold up one with someone because perhaps they were asked to, or because they genuinely want to connect based on the situation. However, if you remove the visual and verbal aspect of communicating, meaning you're left with using written\typed messaging for example, the neurotypical person is far more likely to engage with the person with ASD because, to put it simply, they don't have anyway to immediately identify the disorder. This is frustrating and makes developing social skills even more difficult because the only way to improve a skill is to practice, yet many people don't give us a chance to because of preconceived prejudice. Plus its rather infuriating to constantly hear\see people say "I didn't have a clue you had that".
I remember David's story on his podcast where he confronted the parents of one of his friends with the backing that his brother told him his friend might be autistic (based on his behavior) but the parents took it offensively (even though David was just trying to help!) So because of their ego, they may have delayed help for their son.

Austrian is very very complex and I do recommend taking the time to learn the “basics”. Most likely you interact with someone on the autism spectrum very frequently and you may not know it. My sister is on the spectrum and math is her worst. She’s been taking first grade math for five years ( she’s in middle school). I care for special needs children and can tell you differences can be quite obvious while others’ mannerisms and quirks can be very similar. Sensory processing is something I know most struggle with.
I have autism and for me I think autism is like for normal kids when they are growing up they notice certain things their parents do and things other people around them do like social things and because kids are so impressionable they take that and apply it to themselves but for autistic kids they dont notice social cues when they grow up which is why a lot of them dont talk until a certain age and they do all these unusual things that normal people dont
Autism for my brother was from genetics called fragile X. Which is passed down from women to women and they are carriers. I am not sure how autism is developed but I know that’s one way of how it happens.
But now that I think about it, makes sense, this program started in the 40s when Japan was in cahoots with Germany which was inspired by the American/British eugenics movement.
I don’t agree about what David said about the kdrama version and the actor but tbh, to each their own opinion. **Loved the kdrama of the Good Doctor. I thought that the kdrama actor did great as well as the present actor. And I believe I saw a interview of the kdrama actor saying he studied autism and visit a man that has autism and that’s how he portrayed his character. Love both tv shows.
I don’t agree with David, the actor in the original version of Good doctor which is the Korean one, did a good job portraying a person with autism because I have an autistic friend that has the same mannerisms. So I guess it just depends on the severity of the autism but yeah the Korean version didn’t suck at all.
david thinking that the korean one was lame is his opinion but i think it was a generally well received series and his acting was spot on. he reflected people in my life who have autism

In most sterilization in different countries, women get hysterectomies . So if a 9 year old is getting a hysterectomy that is going to ruin he hormones in puberty and she can or will go crazy from the imbalance.
I was afraid you guys would say ignorant shit on autism, but you actually somewhat made sense when discussing it, particularly Simu and David. Me and my older sister are high functioning autistics and had good behavioral theropists in our toddler years, so we pretty much learned all the proper social cues. 😁
It sounds mean, but I can see myself agreeing with forced sterilization. 1.) If the parents are incompetent drug abusers. As in, they keep having babies, but they no way of feeding them *because* their addiction to drugs takes precedent. (A meal for my child vs some meth, heroin, cocaine, etc. Where are the priorities?) After a 3rd kid, both of the parents should be sterilized. 2.) Severely mentally handicapped. What if a situation occurs where a woman is raped, but she doesn't have the mental capacity to articulate what happened to her and now she has to bear a child that she cannot take care of? Sadly, this sort of scenario is more likely to happen to mentality disabled women. I see it as cruel and unusual for the women to be forced to bear this child because of the circumstance. 3.) Pedophiles, Rapists, and Murderers. If there is undeniable evidence that the person in question did in fact commit any of these crimes, they should be sterilized. These people cause unimaginable irreparable damage and pain onto people,(often those who do not deserve it) all for the fun of it. We should try to minimize this particular sect of the population. (If they happen to garner children before they are caught, their kids shouldn't be judged for their parent's actions)
Everyone has a pair of chromosomes, so technically he’s right? We have 23 pairs of chromosomes and in rare cases like trisomy 21 we can get Down’s syndrome. XXY can lead to effeminate males that are infertile due to them having an extra sex chromosome. XYY can lead to more masculine females that are also infertile. No one really knows the precise cause of autism other than that the older the parents are when they conceive, the higher the probability of the child having autism. Generally speaking, the older you are when you conceive, the more likely your child would have different problems. It’s why even though it’s possible for women to have children after 40, it’s generally not recommended as the chances of genetic based defects can occur due to the female egg production getting worse with time. As a side note, even if a child is born without any issues, the environment and upbringing can have a big effect. A child in an abusive household can exhibit signs of social awkwardness.
I don’t know if FGM is a big thing in the news in America but in the uk it is. Like David said, it’s often grandmothers or mothers or aunts who do this to these girls as young as 8-9 along with “ironing” the chest, like it’s happing in communities in the UK but the law is slamming the people who get caught thankfully. It’s just sick and wrong.
The envelope man's math abilities are connected to synesthesia, which is the perception of one sense as another. His math skills are connected to shapes and that is how he goes about solving the problems.
I’m autistic and I speak ok but sometimes I don’t like social situations I don’t know how to react I get to scared of them I stay at home a lot and it’s neurological if you guys in the jk crew want to know more about it you can ask me it’s hard my mom denies it when I was a kid and I wasn’t treated right but I survived so that’s good I’m in to music I can’t sing that good I don’t think but it’s the one thing I can’t let go if I guess it’s my fixation

Haha. Never seen this channel. It was an absolutely hilarious video. Great content team!
Not to mention very interesting.
3:34 SIMU IS THE BIGGEST MOOD
I was taken aback when David started talking about The Good Doctor lol
It’s Norman Bates 🧡
I like watching the Good Doctor! Such a great show!
No.. we are still kids, they will learn."
I later went to groups for people with autism, most of them are sadly gone, even though they were kinda bad for me.
Thank you for giving me more hope!
that story david was talking about was a show called "the good doctor"
4:10
David watches The Good Doctor! Great show!
I was nodding as David told the story from The Good Doctor.
Simu! Canada did forced sterilization too! Up until the late '90s also on people with mental disabilities without their consent
OH NO BART AND GEO SWITCHED UGH MY OCD IS TRIGGERED
But I liked the Korean Drama. Tf lol
Marco Torres me too, it was good. I like David but my mans is trippin’
Saammeee tho, I liked the Korean version too
lol a lot of people said they liked that drama so when I heard david say that I was like woah
I liked the k-drama too but the American one does a better job of portraying autism.
Finally someone who low-key connects with my obsession over the good doctor
the color coordination in this episode is really pleasing
a good example of helping those on the spectrum is speech therapy helping them with social cues like looking at people in the face when theyre talking for a certain amount of time.
OMG I LOVE HIM ON KIM'S CONVENIENCE
The way joe laughs out of no where made me crack up so hard. He had a straight face and then started laughing while playing with the fake money. 5:05 minutes in.
i have autism and even i dont want to explain it
Explain sterilization please my dude?
@@ricohernandez9969 basically what they do is they would castrate the men and/or tie up the women's tubes to prevent quote dumb children popping up in the gene pool look up eugenics when you get the chance
YEOOOO when joe laughed in 5:07 it scared the shit outta me.
😧 >>>>😆😆😆
Hey @davidsocomedy he is freddie highmore. :) and also he plays Norman Bates from Bates Motel. ❤❤❤
We had the same eugenics movement here in the U.S. that ended as late as the 60s where main target were those with mental illness and the poor.
Fun fact the actor who plays Shaun in the Good Doctor, Freddy Highmore, played Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
The first time David talked his voice was so deep
why does simu look like the face model for mk11 Liu Kang
So crazy how Bart and Geo just switching seats can be mind-blowing when you first see it.
Yeah it’s just still super shocking.
I don’t agree with David, the actor in the original version of Good doctor which is the Korean one, did a good job portraying a person with autism because I have an autistic friend that has the same mannerisms. So I guess it just depends on the severity of the autism but yeah the Korean version didn’t suck at all.
Why does it fuck me up when Bart and Geo sits it each other's seats?
deddd at david’s imitation of The Good Doctor😂
david thinking that the korean one was lame is his opinion but i think it was a generally well received series and his acting was spot on. he reflected people in my life who have autism
Good doctor is so good
I am so stupid I tried figuring out for so long where I recognize simu and I just realize by going back to an old video that he was on Kim’s Convenience and now I feel extremely dumb
From what my science teacher has taught me he said that autism is caused by there being two of chromosome 22🤷♀️
Kdramas are mostly weak & cringy when compared to others I stopped watching them when I stopped being a teenager
tomaa al mbark you’re watching the wrong genres
I don’t know if FGM is a big thing in the news in America but in the uk it is. Like David said, it’s often grandmothers or mothers or aunts who do this to these girls as young as 8-9 along with “ironing” the chest, like it’s happing in communities in the UK but the law is slamming the people who get caught thankfully. It’s just sick and wrong.
That ending credit song you guys played Is fire 🔥🔥🔥
Gahh. I love Simu's shirt!!!
I just took a psychology exam about mental disorders and their treatments, so if I was there I would be givin all the knowledge
The envelope man's math abilities are connected to synesthesia, which is the perception of one sense as another. His math skills are connected to shapes and that is how he goes about solving the problems.
I’m high functioning autistic is very hard to live with because I’m aware I’m meat up
or just don't have kids and save money, I also heard the animal shelter is open.
Allen Silva You would waste more money on kids then you would for a dog.
They did it to people in Canada too, I think alberta specifically and they did it without them knowing
Sorry um... anyone else seeing gym shark being advertised in the barbell gym or am i going crazy?
Brie Wright I Am and I get so happy for them
@@Randomn96 sameeeee
I’m autistic and I speak ok but sometimes I don’t like social situations I don’t know how to react I get to scared of them I stay at home a lot and it’s neurological if you guys in the jk crew want to know more about it you can ask me it’s hard my mom denies it when I was a kid and I wasn’t treated right but I survived so that’s good I’m in to music I can’t sing that good I don’t think but it’s the one thing I can’t let go if I guess it’s my fixation
davids impression of the good doctor
I wanna know where Joe saw the story about the autistic guy folding paper @ 9:06 ;(( does anyone know where it’s from??
I loved the Korean one

Female genital mutilation isn't the same as circumsision
It is
Debatable
For rapist they use chemical castration but they still find that predators can still perform sexual assault from habit or routine, even if they can't get off on it. It's still pretty fucked up, too.
This is horrible and when Simu was explaining what autism was really appreciate that
Simu is actually quite knowledgable and seems intelligent in this group lol
My last 2 brain cells can't keep up with them changing spots.
Good doctor... the actor was norman bates. And charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate factory
I watched the korean version of the Good Doctor lol it wasn't bad but I get David
This is Eugenics
Is jkn still doing a podcast? If so where do i find the episodes?
