I recently watched you watch Once Were Warriors. I cried, because it is heartbreaking. But it's still cool to see you watch fictional representation of my upbringing. Thank you.
Do you think that these posts are helping your mental health?, I fear you are playing a dangerous game, you're over emotional, tears every episode..is it just the films?
Born and raised in Penrith, Western Sydney. My upbringing was definitely adjacent to this entire series. I know these exact people. It was the most accurate representation of my culture in Western Sydney.
Need more people reacting to this. A few people complain it isn't *ALL* action, but its all about Ray and his balance between his "Job" as well as family life.
I’m Australian, and found out that some of us are so dumb from watching movies n that from America so much were they shout out “call 911” that some aussies do that instinctively instead of ‘000’ that 911 actually connects ya to the coppas I heard.
@@escodard9tre There's an international number too, which should work from mobiles in many parts of the World... 112. 112 will either connect directly to emergency services, or forward to them.
@@escodard9trejust looked it up. Turns put that doesn't happen. It won't redirect you to 000. My source was a government website specifically about 000.
One of Australian televisions greatest shows. The characters and their development is amazing. The writing is spot on and the acting goes with it. I wish there was more.
I've also heard about this Australian tv show, and because I saw the thumbnail of your video, I started watching it a few days ago. I'm now into season two, and I love it!
so happy you are watching this. This is a hidden gem that went really unoticed at the time. But is getting traction again. He wont be continueing the series on as he side he has lived with this character for over 10 years now while getting this show made and needs to move on. Which is totally understandable. Enjoy the series
Yay !. You are my #1 reactor reacting to some of my favorite shows and films which are not mainstream. This series did not disappoint. Very un-appreciated.
No. The main character (Ray) is not ‘the writer’. Nash Egerton is the writer. He (Nash) makes a cameo as the person Ray punches through the window after the unicorn incident. I went to school with both of them - Nash & Joel.
Read the credits @timmatthews93 Scott Ryan is the writer. Nash Edgerton got involved as director after seeing the movie magician. Also, chika who plays Ray's daughter is actually Nash's stepdaughter
Loved this show. They filmed a few scenes out the front of my work (I didn't know what show it was at the time), makes me happy to see so many recognisable places.
This is a phenomenal show. Funny, disturbing, artistic, exciting, and heartbreaking. Take the time and give it a real chance. I really hope you do more; you won't regret it
The perfect balance to Ray for the viewer is after the stairs push, he rescues the ladybird in the shower. This was the moment for me that I knew the show was very special, it was a contrast that told me our protagonist has an innately moral core.
I was introduced to this brilliant series by friends who suggested i watch it because i remind them of Ray. I'm not a hit man obviously, they all thought i had a very similar attitude and sense of justice to him. I cant disagree.
I know this is 7 months old but I just wanted to say I like your reaction style. Idk if you’re shy or just prefer to be quiet but I appreciate that you’re not talking over every scene and pausing every 5 seconds. I think you appreciate the material more that way. Can’t wait to watch the rest!
"I dont want yer money, thats his job to collect the money." "Whats your job then?" "My job is to make ya sorry you didnt pay when you had the chance" Absolutely terrifying.
Chrissie you are gonna ABSOLUTELY LOVE this show!!!!!!! ❤️ Scott Ryan is BRILLIANT and there are some scenes that are going to stick with you forever, can't wait to watch with you!!!!!!!
Hi Chrissie, I just found you, and lo and behold you are watching one of my all time favourite mini series. I simply love mr in-between, and can't wait to watch it along with you. Just as a side note , the guy playing Ray, the main character is also the writer. I am keen to check out some of your other stuff.
Every episode will leave you wanting more and his mate will definitely pay him back and then some as the series progresses. Australia's best crime/thriller series by far.
New to your channel, I loved your reaction to Ray pushing the lad over the railings. Ray is such a great character & Gaz is so daft but loyal to Ray. We're you aware that there's a film that prequel the series. It's called the magician, not sure if you can remember the guy who Freddy owed money to but he called him the magician after his bodyguard was put in his place by Ray.
Awesome show. I worked around the corner from the Ice Cream scene. I used to get my lunch from that street every day. I literally parked where he beats the 2 guys up
I loved this show, he played Ray so well, but he was doing the character on another project way before the show, and they struggled for funding, as is usually the case in australian film, an i think he was just sick of it at that point, really wish it had more seasons though, one of the very few shows that can go from laughter, to shock, to fear, to happy, to sad, its incredible!! Now im gonna have to rewatch them again !!
I just started watching it myself and I'm loving it, i saw all the ads for it when it was releasing but I'm not sure what distracted cause i never got to it. So glad i am now.
Ok so Damon Herriman aka Freddie recently played Charles Manson in both Mind hunter and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He is great Australian actor and has been in a lot of great Australian film and TV . There is definitely going to be some dialogue that goes over your head being made for Australian audience. But it is enjoyable and does take you for nice ride . It's funnily enough , pretty accurate to fair degree I mean there is Ray Shoesmiths around . Also Edgerton bto's ie Joel are the production company that backed this series after seeing Scott Ryan's short film of same character The Magician.
Brilliant Subtle writing. At 4:40ish he says "Quinton" to his exes partner. In a future episode he discusses the name Quinton with Dave. Makes the scene with Dave extra funny knowing that.
It was first a short movie.. Ray is ex-Army, hence why he kinda is how he is.. Then when the concept got picked up, Nash Edgerton INSISTED that Scott Ryan keep the main role.. Pretty rough, a bit tough, but also touching.. Hi, liked and subscribed from Matt in Adelaide, South Australia.
@chrissie this series came about from the indie move the main character wrote and filmed called The magician' from 2005. Definitely worth a watch if you liked this show. I remember finding the movie back in 2005 and was very pleased to find it finally got picked up as a show.
Love this series, you should watch the movie “The Magician” which is made before the series filmed in a Mockumentary style following Ray’s character around, same sort of dry humour it’s pretty good 🙌🏻 it’ll give you a little more back story to Ray

When you say “we just watch S1” is that you & your partner?? 😊 inquiring minds are asking if you single?
Hahaha, I mean "we" on Patreon. Theres a few of us on there watching the full episodes together ☺️
Please do Top Boy it's a British show about drug dealers in London and all that comes with that life, it really is an amazing show.
This show has the most realistic dialogue I've ever seen. No exaggeration.
Crikey, ya fair dinkum?
The writer/star of the show Scott Ryan spent hours studying The Sopranos and their "slice of life" moments and dialogue.
"What can i get ya?"
"Jus a couple dimmies"
Amazing stuff. 👏🏻
I don't know about that, for me, it's The Bear, but this one is up there too.
Born and raised in Penrith, Western Sydney. My upbringing was definitely adjacent to this entire series. I know these exact people. It was the most accurate representation of my culture in Western Sydney.
They filmed outside of the Sefton Playhouse a lot.
I dont run with a rough crowd. But all the non gang related stuff feels so relatable. Australians talk and interact just like this.

When the action does kick in it's some of the most realistic gun battles and fights. 10/10 loved every bit of this series.
Thats what makes it so real and so much more interesting.
Life isn't all action either this is a truely fantastic series
Those people can go watch shows like Reacher, which has crap writing.
The greatest piece of Australian television ever.
And Blue Murder
Yeah Mr Inbetween and Danger 5
No, Pugwall is.
And prisoner cell block h
i disagree, little lunch goes hard

I LOVE Ray, absolutely fantastic show. It just gets better as it goes on. I wish they'd make more!

Thank god someone is finally reacting to this gem. A perfect piece of television.
My wife and I absolutely loved this series.
Brilliant acting. 👏 👍

Wow, never really thought i'd see someone react to this great show.
There’s 1 or 2 people that have reacted to this series on YT.
He did a movie called The Magician which is this series without a budget.

Finally someone reacting to one of most underrated shows ever made
There have been 3 or 4 other channels also watching this
this series gets so good. The writer is also the main actor apparently

Research it like i just did 🤷♂️ Its definetley based from Scott Ryans movie 'the magician'

This show is not what you think! Ray is complex snd there is a lot of heart in amongst the ‘business’, you’re going to love it!!!
Omg you're gonna love this small series. It gets deep in s2 and beyond. Its great all the way through, though.
Hell yeah, I randomly started to watch this show a few days ago. I'm already through the first two seasons. I absolutely love it.
You're in for a wild ride. This show is superb.
Glad you are watching this and other more obscure less reacted to stuff. I really liked your Once Were Warriors reaction, keep up the great work!
This show grabbed me from the start, and I binged all three seasons in one week.
Man, Brooke Satchwell is so cute. Had a massive crush on her 25 years ago - still do it turns out.
The perfect balance to Ray for the viewer is after the stairs push, he rescues the ladybird in the shower.
This was the moment for me that I knew the show was very special, it was a contrast that told me our protagonist has an innately moral core.
In the states, we call that a Ladybug.
Enjoy this great series.

This is without doubt the best Australian show to ever be produced!
I'm in the UK and only just heard of it ,watched the first 2 episodes last night and its like a book you cant put down ,?Brilliant .
Fun fact; if you listen to the phone call in that first scene, you can make out Freddy telling Ray: “mate.. hurt him, nothing permanent.”
The relationship between Ray and his brother is some of the best cinema ever
An amazing show, so realistic and honest. These people exist!
"I dont want yer money, thats his job to collect the money."
"Whats your job then?"
"My job is to make ya sorry you didnt pay when you had the chance"

I was so shocked how good this series is. Never heard of it before a friend recommended it to me. Wish there were more seasons.
One of the few shows that is absolutely great from beginning to end
When ray smiles just know it isn’t going to be good for you😂

One of the best series I have ever watched. Very clever. Ray Shoesmith is a super complex individual...just 'doing society a favour.'
Greatest Aussie T.V production in our history . Ray is such a handsome beast 😁. Anyone got a spare 'Vagankle' for sale 😆

Ah, i just caught that his kid's stepdad's name is Quintin. Remember him giving shit to that other hitman bloke for wanting to name his son that?
