Kirby is so fly bro. Im all about streetwear and some local artist made clothes and accessories , but my man kirby got all the drip, and you got to appreciate his knowledge on the finer things in life . Respectfully, - The WestCoastVeteran
Kirby, you are so patient guy for the perfection. You are a fine example of a classic disciplined gentleman. I may need an apron i think to save my bespoke jacket but you are doing it so neat and clean. Awesome.
Dominic Casey’s shoes are less of a commercial product than Cleverly. It has a much more unique bespoke feel to it - that’s the appeal of buying bespoke.
You know mr shoe shining is my hobby I like to shine my shoes when I am free atleast I am not wasting my time but I think its hard to shine this kind of grainy leather
i personally don't like to do a mirror shine on the heels of my shoes because i always end up using them for support whenever i take off my shoes at the end of the day. as such, they tend to lose their shine very quickly which makes it almost pointless to shine
Hi Kirby, thanks for another wonderful video! I just picked up a pair or Alfred Sargent PTB's and am nervous about using the Saphir Renovateur on them, as I have heard that it can alther the color of crust leather shoes. How can I tell whether or not my shoes are made of crust leather, and if they are, would you still recommend getting the Renovateur to clean and condition them? Thanks!
Hey Kirby do you ever get burned out from shoes? my collection has been growing and I'm at about 22 now and I'm starting to feel somewhat overwhelmed by it, and the somewhat absurdity of it Do you ever have moments where you just want to wear the same 1 or 2 shoes for a month? To simplify your life?
No need to increase your collection for the sake of increasing it. Enjoy wearing your shoes and make your next purchase because the shoes excite you, not because you want to fill up your shoe rack.
Guys and kirby sorry it his a silly question, where I live we just have a handful of shoe waxes, mostly are soft waxes. Is there any way to get a mirror shine using soft waxes? Maybe eliminating the solvents on the soft wax?
i think a lot of it will depend on the quality of those waxes. which brands do your local stores carry? i can't speak for other brands since i myself have only been using saphir (and i must say i'm very satisfied), but i have seen reviews from other shoe care channels on youtube before saying that saphir is by far one of the best brands out there. i would maybe look into amazon or other online shops that carry more brands.
Kirby, new subscriber here. Great videos! Thought I'd let you know that internet is spelled incorrectly on your about us section in the best shoe polish section. Might be a minor thing but I always catch the oddest things! Haha.
i can answer that one. it's best not to skip the pate de luxe because you want to have that solid soft, more wet wax foundation first, upon which you want to add the layers of mirror gloss. as you then build up your mirror gloss wax coats, you can then do as kirby does by using small amounts of pate de luxe to help melt the harder waxes from the mirror gloss and further elevate that shine. hope that helps. FWIW, i've been shining my own shoes for a couple of years now and have been using both pate de luxe and mirror gloss, and i find that this is what works well for me.
You polished the new shoes, I sow under it, never used. The shoes are new as you both in the shop, probabily you never used and now it is very easy to polish it. Try with used shoes.....!!
Would hazard a guess that the bill was somewhere between USD $5000-$10,000. Dominic's pricing starts at £3500 for basic calfskin shoes and goes up from there. And yes, I too would be taken aback if someone sent me a pair of shoes that I didn't order and invoiced me for that amount. However, I suppose if you're a regular customer of Dominic's and have a good relationship with him as your shoemaker, then you're probably the sort of person who can bleed that kind of money and not worry too much about it. (Must be nice, is all I'll say about that.)
Kirby ...great video but in your voice over can you next time quantify the time you keep aside for drying or soaking or ensuring the solvents really get into the grain of the leather. Another point is the fine veins in the leather ..are they running sideways or otherwise ...it helps because I notice just that extra little knowledge helps in getting the best out of the shoe as you navigate your fingers well and not against the grain.

beautiful shoes. To me, those shoes look very proper, and formal, and fit your physic and your style well. Great color.

Very nice work sir love this technic 😎😎😎
The number of times I've said in my head while polishing "little bit of water, little bit of pate de luxe" is embarrassing.
That's fantastic! 😂
Beautiful shoes sir.
Beautiful Shoes, Kirby

Great shoes, I like the almond toe shape.

Frankly I’ve never felt that choosing between a good selection of shoes was mentally taxing.
You’re thinking a bit too much into it I think

Quick question: Could I skip the Pate de Luxe and go straight for the Mirror Gloss?
i can answer that one. it's best not to skip the pate de luxe because you want to have that solid soft, more wet wax foundation first, upon which you want to add the layers of mirror gloss. as you then build up your mirror gloss wax coats, you can then do as kirby does by using small amounts of pate de luxe to help melt the harder waxes from the mirror gloss and further elevate that shine. hope that helps. @@lullemans72 thanks a lot for the comprehensive answer
@@aleksi2592 you're welcome. shining a pair of shoes is a lot like building a house. you can't build the house of the foundations aren't strong.
When I put neutral mirror gloss on over a buffed layer of pate de luxe, it stripped off all the pate deluxe I had put on. What did I do wrong?
most likely you didn't give a chance for the pate de luxe to dry
I am not a big fan of neutral mirror gloss especially if the shoe has a custom patina. Not good.
Polishing a new ? Maybe find an old battered one to polish
Is there a fathers day sale?
There was. It ran from June 2nd to June 8th.. Sorry if you missed it!
Meanwhile I go back to Kiwiing my boots
Wait a sec... Loafers?!
Look like oxfords to me
He says that at the start of the video. Just the title is inaccurate. I thought the same, though, when I saw the thumbnail.
yep, a typo
The more I look at these shoes, the more I like pig skin!
Wow, this kind of video make me want become a gentleman.

The shoes now need a nice jaunt. Tread them well.
If someone just made me a pair of shoes and sent them to me with like a $2000 bill I'd be like "woah bud, slow down."

loafers ?
yeah a typo. Fixed
@@kirbyallison maybe you should ask Mr Casey to send a pair of loafer to correct this ...
