I also forget to write things down and regret it. I want to get into that habit for sure because it will save me from a lot of frustration. I even want to write down my pattern/ fabric pairing ideas because I forget those, too. I love that pants pattern. Sew House Seven is one of my all time favorite pattern companies. Make another pair!!! ❤️✂️❤️✂️ And, yes! I love your idea for putting the spotlight on positive organizations!
Yes, I always think I'll remember but I never do. I've gotten good about documenting things on my Ravelry for knitting and just need to make it a habit for sewing. Especially as I'm much more likely to sew things more than once and would appreciate those notes!
I love watching your videos and I am one who is NOT going anywhere because my views align with yours. As for organizations....these are big ones but Planned Parenthood, American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and Southern Poverty Law Center (SLPC) are ones that definitely believe in democracy and try to protect the groups who are under fire. Your makes are awesome. I'm a big fan of the Hepburn turtleneck as well but I also want to try the Nikko top for comparison. Right now I'm working on a quarter zip top from McCalls (8143) but I'm a slow sewer so who knows when that will be done. Hang in there and continue to fight the good fight.
Thank you!! I love the Nikko too, it's just a slightly different fit. I think I like the Hepburn for drapey fabric and the nikko for rib knit. Yes those are all awesome organizations. Thank you.
I don’t “comment” much at all but I want to say, I wondered where you stood after the election. Whew!! My faith restored…I wasn’t sure. And I appreciate that you said something. Many, many are not…just continuing on with their vlog. Sad. I like your uplifting message, we all need to support each other, “you in your small corner, I in mine” thanks again
What a coincidence! I also just finished a Hepburn Turtleneck from the Blackbird Fabrics wool knit, color oatmeal, which is no longer available. I also have the Oxbow pants on my cutting table, and truth be told, I waited to cut it out until after I saw your review. I think I'll make a quick toile, at least of the upper section, to check the rise, hip, and waist fit. In general, if you don't want to make toiles (and who does), you can baste the side and inseams to check the fit before you commit, and easily adjust at that point. Thanks for being positive about ways we can make the world a better place, without getting mired in the divisiveness and muck. ooxx
Yes, I think you could easily check the fit on these as you go! I really do think it's a well written pattern and if you cut out the correct size, I think you'll be happy with it!
Hi, thanks for the video, I sew (and have a channel also)... pants are tough for me also. But I think yours look great and I love that pattern, might try it. Also, I'm a CO native, grew up there, living in NYC now. And love your opening message.
Those colours again! 😍😍😍 I understand you wanted something different but those "cargo" pants look so good on you! I am too addicted to knitting to pick sewing back up (and I have very little experience) but watching you is really inspiring. I think I have the same colour of your turtle neck in a blackbird linen. I should really make something with it.
Great job on your pants, before you make another pair, try measuring the pattern at waist and hip at the seam lines. this will give you a more accurate feel for the amount of ease built into the pattern. I try to write this information on the pattern along with the date. After sew the garment, I pin a small swatch of fabric to the pattern as future reference. Thanks for the Blackbird fabric idea.
I hope you get the pants you want in the end but for a first go the green looks good. Coincidentally I called to reactivate my volunteerism in a free community meal program. I had health stuff that needed my attention but we are back baby ! I like many people am determined to turn my grief and frustration into positive and local to me . Seattle public schools has a similar back pack program to help bridge the gap of weekends . Feeding kids always a good idea .
Yes I do think I’ll wear them plenty! I love hearing about your turning grief into action. That’s a lovely thing and I agree- feeding kids feels like the most pro life you can be :)
Yay new Fall clothes! They look great even though the pants weren't quite what you thought they would be. Checking the size once you have a finished garment is helpful. It might be that you need to grade between sizes so you fit your hips with the overall size and then grade down for the waist, just a thought.
I kept forgetting to take notes and write down adjustments.. Disaster waiting to happen 😅 But I started using Threadloop, which is sort of like a Ravelry for sewing. It's free and super handy!
@whitmakes it's neat how you guys have physical, mannerism, and hobby similarities. She could be that unrelated twin they say we all have. Love your channel, btw.

Maybe you would like Threadloop, I use it especially to keep track of fabric/pattern combination ideas etc. Because otherwise I just forget them 😅

@@sannevanderbijl6712 I just discovered Threadloop this week and am delighted it is similar to Ravelry. Help it get bigger by posting our makes 👏🏼👏🏼
I'll replace one of those who left! 😉 Thank you for your inspiring message. We are in this together.
Thank you!! Glad you're here.
You are so inspiring! Please keep up the good work! Love your message(s).
Thank you!
I’d love to hear more about your new sewing machine.
In a couple of weeks I'll do a little bit of a deep dive and talk through it.

Thank you. We got this. We're going to keep showing up and maybe we'll encourage others to do the same :)

Your makes are lovely; I plan to purchase the leggings and Oxbow pants. Thanks for your encouragement and care after the election.
Thank you! We got this!

I know- it's hard to have time for both!! And thank you, I really do like the pants and know I will wear them.

Yes this is a good idea. And goes well with my plan to document going forward for sure!!

I really want to know more about your new sewing machine. Can you show us what kind, ( brand) you bought and some of its features? Thanks!😊
Ok, it will be a couple of weeks but in my next sewing catch up I'll give the details!!

Yes, I am just so confused by myself and picking this size- ha! Thank you!

Ok I signed up for this and haven't fully set it up and explored. Maybe I can get some time over the holiday to dive in.
I love those khaki cargo pants on you.
Thank you!
Make a quick muslin? You did a beautiful job. So lovely!😊
Thanks!
Power to you. I am your new follower so not all is lost 😉
Thanks for being here! I'll answer your email when I get a chance!
@ I want to note that I am so sorry for the loss of your brother ❤️🩹
Do you think you would do another toaster sweater with that Polartec Fleece from Surge?
Hmm that's a good idea! I think that would be super cozy
I have that same color polartec from surge.
It's so cozy!
Do you have a sister/cousin who is on RUclips? Engineering Knits, IMO, looks very similar to you.
Haha, I do not! We aren't related.
