I'm still doing my nursery routes and on my 4th route I had about 60 Commercial Packages. We don't start our loading until ~1pm and I usually hit my first stop by 2pm. The route planner showed all of my business stops in the last half so I had 28 RTS packages that needed redeliver the next day. I was a little annoyed at how many CTC I had to do that day.
I don't understand why Amazon changes areas for DSPs all the time. It makes no sense and only hurts efficiency. If you know an area, it takes so much faster to get it done than when you have to learn a new area all over again. I'm so glad I don't work for Amazon anymore.
From the top of my head if I wanted to learn which DSP is doing good, slacking, or missing packages, this what I would do; change DSPs so I can determine who is who. We do this with employees between locations of any business. Amazon’s AI must have have other reasons, too 😅
They should keep it like other delivery couriers. I’m a FedEx express driver and been doing my same business route for almost 2 1/2 years now and I know where to go and all my customers know me well. When I worked at a DSP they kept changing my routes and cities which was super annoying
I’ll never understand people that are expecting a delivery to come letting their old yeller roam the garden delivery drivers have to leave packages at smh. Those places should be put on a pickup list where they are forced to pick up their own packages from an Amazon locker
The area I deliver have many dogs that are let loose. While most are nice, I’d really like the recipients to keep them secured. Many delivery drivers have gotten bit (especially by the lil fluffy ones). There’s only one house I’ve seen where the dog is always let out *except* when there’s a package incoming. Every other house with dogs are more of a gamble.
Well i'd say it's the owner's 100% complete fault if the package gets stolen or if something else happens to it. They can't expect delivery guys to fight off their dogs in their own property. You either keep that dog inside or let the package wait for you outside in a place it can be stolen.
id take businesses over large apartment complexes any day. i literally do the same thing you do, i dont have time to wait for people to come and sign. i just dont know where you find time to fit in a meal.
As a PA who works in the amazon FC I always say drivers are the underdogs as they dont get enough credit for driving in any weather conditions and making sure the customer gets their package. Keep up the good work and stay safe on the roads my man!
I'm a L1 at a DS, I used to do RTS (Return to Warehouse) and whether I was helping with Flex drivers or Commercial ones I can say they have it worse than us inside the DS, much much more hurdles and annoyances especially needing to interact far more with strangers, for less pay more often than not. Truly wouldn't see myself ever voluntarily quitting for a DSP job in my lifetime
UPS here and I'd take business over apartments. Im doing a seasonal route and its probably 1/3 business stops and pickups and 2/3 houses with a few apartments. The businesses take up the bulk of the day for sure with a few stops consisting of 15-35 packages each with weights up to 70 lbs. But at least most of them are to docks instead of figuring out apartments. Apartments suck worse than businesses. Except my final pickup which is 300-400 smaller packages from a pharmacy. And I have to scan each one. Side note, I hate those type of gear shifters in the trucks. The column shifters are better I think. Don't kill your wrists over time.
The DSP I currently work at has a heavy business route that I have a hate/love relationship! Since we are the last wave that leaves the station around 11:30-40AM means I need to be rushing because most of them close around 3-5 pm! The cherry on top is when I get to the drop offs is around lunch time. No one at the front desk, and no safe location to leave packages!! But when all goes well on the route I’m usually done by 5pm!(Los Angeles/Culver City area)
Yeah it really makes no sense why people at the warehouse are not putting business routes to early mornings when they open. Unless they're expecting DSP last to have rescuers to split a heavy business route
Melida was a great lady! I didn't really understand why you brought packages to the Flex place though. Seeing the businesses is a lot more fun than watching house delivers to be honest.
I do 75% business on my UPS route. Unfortunately, my area is mostly industrial, so my dolly is my best friend. I have to deliver 250+ packages before I can touch any residential. The money is what keeps me going. This is the first year I've hit 6 figures, and I've been driving for 5 years now.
Damn that's wild I'm FedEx ground right now do you have any tips on how to get in a ups? I look on the website and they never have any job openings. Do I need to wait for the holidays and become a driver helper?
I work for usps and honestly I hate businesses also they absolutely suck . I’m lucky because I’ve had a hold down on a route that is all residential and it’s a jump route and it’s a 9 hour route . My other staff members hate my route they would rather do businesses and being inside buildings I can’t do suite to suite and huge corporate office buildings it makes me want to blow my head off . I’m thankful for my hold on my route right now but when my bid goes back up I’m gonna be kicked off it and unassigned again which means my supervisor then will put me on a random route until I bid on another route that I like again in our office !!!! Sorry to hear about what your going through Chris with the businesses . They really do suck . Your videos are awesome by the way
Big huge fan I love your videos so much they're very good I love buying stuff from Amazon your videos make my day keep up the good work you're such an amazing person and you're so kind to everyone
I'm so ready for that water bottle to release! the mag safe capability has me sold as a Amazon Driver as well. Will we be seeing a peak season video? Thanks for the great content, and good luck during peak season to everyone!
Ohhhh Chris how I love you! The water bottle is dope! I want mine in black. I am a bus driver and I need a smaller one. I have the Coleman one that huge..
That's wild that you don’t have to have people sign on your phone. I have to do it every time I hand it directly to someone. If they caught us doing that, we'd get in a lot of trouble. My trainer said it's ok to sign yourself if it's a residence, but any businesses, schools, etc. needs a signature. But we'd still technically get in trouble if they found out we were signing for a resident.
Good to see the good old step van again 😁 And let me be let me be one of the early people that congratulate you on hitting 100,000 subs congratulations man and I wish you the best!
I wish Amazon gave more space to write delivery notes. So far, I am able to leave a note telling them where to go to find my block of apartments (since it is a little confusing to be honest), and to press the call button on the intercom, that way they can at least chuck the parcel safely in if they're in a rush. I just wish I could write "I will meet you at the door for heavy packages" too. 😅
First-time delivery to new business/industrial areas will always suck , I don't know where to leave the packages, front, back, side door, trap door, that one manager that can be the only one to accept packages. Nonethess, it gets better after your first time, but damn...does it suck in the beginning.
bro bout to start my workweek here in Netherlands at DHL express. I deliver only to businesses and at the end of the day maybe 10 houses only. luckily for me i start every day at 9:30 am till 18:00 / 18:30 pm. Nice video Chris
do the vans have ac heating at least? i mean i am a summer person i say "i can sweat like in a sauna and no problem, a little bit of cold hits me and im dying 🤣", i see they have the ventilators up top for cooling you off but what about winter times is it warm inside the van?
I went from running a country route my first 4 months of nothing but 100 stops and less still takes 10 hours cause of how spread out. To now running major city with 198 a day with most apartments and business. That shit is tiring
Chris! I wanna see more of your Amazon flex videos. I’ve been doing Amazon flex sometimes either on Saturdays or Sundays and the pay is not that bad. I would say Amazon fresh is way easier than flex tho. Do you think you can do an Amazon fresh video?
maybe unpopular opinion, but I could cope with apartments way better than businesses even a few business deliveries at the beginning of the route could severely screw me up as I waste time figuring out where to enter and where to go
In a smaller neighboring town I was bitten twice in one day. First it was a chihuahua then a year old jack resell with it's owner right next to me. Neither dog could break the skin, so I didn't make a big deal about it.
I like when amazon delivers to me but wish they knock on door to let me know...i get a text but lots of time i don't check my phone til an hour or 2 later lol
You should add that in your notes!! Otherwise drivers don’t want to be rude, a lot of people have dogs/babies that would be disturbed by knocking for every package.
I keep track of my stuff and only order when someone can get the package. No complicated notes, nothing extra. Those guys have a ton of work, and every second matters.
I just do not have patience for signatures. At businesses I switch it to residential and take a picture of the ground. 8/10 times there’s no one available to sign at residentials and I can get fired for signing however if I call and god willing they ANSWER!!!! they agree to let me sign and leave it somewhere safe. I get paid per stop after all so I wanna deliver everything.
I work in Germany and when i have businesses i always write the recipient name as "Reception" and sign it myself because i had some problems with them trying to sign with sharp objects and scratching my phone XD
When your DSP is constantly on your ass because you have to be back by a certain time, then you'll know how much of a hit those extra few minutes will hurt you to the point of losing your job then you'll know what you're talking about.
Have you noticed yet that when you scan packages, it immediately opens the camera? As the camera is open, you can still switch where you left it. New amazon flex update it weird but I kinda like it 😂
@KingDiamond714 it really depends on the area. If you have apartments, it’s not fun. If it’s house to house and you keep a steady pace, it wouldn’t be so bad
I see that you shut off your van at every stop. Does your station make you guys do this, because our station stopped making this mandatory. Also, there’s no way they are able to track shutting off step vans.
Brother im full on sprinting just to make 130 stops in 10 hours I organize my packages I really dont know how I can keep the pace but im not giving up on account of me losing hella weight from all the cardio 💀
Hello Chris What is a good pace for stops and packages per hour ? How do they watch your pace ? In a neighborhood , do you walk it ordrive / stop at each house ? Thank you sir
Usually on weekdays when I deliver to businesses for example if I had 90 or 100 stops it takes me 10 stops per hour then in the evening I hustle to deliver to residentials
Yes i did One time. 27 stops i dont know how many locations with 300plus packages in down town Arlington VA. That drive me nuts looking for parking spot. I asked for dolly to carry my bags and dispatch about to not giving me one. 2-7 bags to in one stop.. plus overflow. If they didnt give that dolly i will return it all back to the station. Fuck that!
I deliver for Amazon flex. Businesses aren't bad until they order by 7am and you get there at 4 am and the sign says no deliveries outside store hours.
All the delivery companies at a single warehouse is crazy. They will ask if you applied to any other. I learned the hard way and wont say yes. Since they have all these companies, you play their game too.
bro the first time i needed to get rescued was when i had 97 COMMERCIAL PACKAGES (business packages) bruh i had to go to schools , hospitals, warehouses , business suites etc., and they weren't all multiple package stops , most of them was 1 or 2 package drops smh i wasted so much time in elevators bro waiting for security access , being told to go to the back of the building after trekking my way to the front 😂looking at maps after getting lost 😭 don't even get me started on waiting for them to answer the phone lol i love residential routes even more now after that . way easier and convenient
Can you explain the delivery to the Amazon hub? Not seen one of those before, mini logistics hub for Flex drivers? So you’re essentially being one of the Amazon logistics semi trucks 😂
It's a special 2 day shipping building where they really only have flex drivers. They do have semi trucks Apparently they have lockers there and they order packages (assuming cleaning supplies, paper towels, ect.)
Does anyone here like delivering to businesses... 🥺
Nope

How do they watch your pace ?
In a neighborhood , do you walk it ordrive / stop at each house ?

25+ stops per hour is what most DSPs usually wants
Maybe 20 stops per hour minimum
Dispatch can watch every driver on the laptop, phone, and desktop PC
Some wants 20 stops minimum per hour. 25-30 stops is more ideal

So you delivery to other Amazon, also! Wow
Amazon never wants to make our lives easier
bro the first time i needed to get rescued was when i had 97 COMMERCIAL PACKAGES (business packages) bruh i had to go to schools , hospitals, warehouses , business suites etc., and they weren't all multiple package stops , most of them was 1 or 2 package drops smh i wasted so much time in elevators bro waiting for security access , being told to go to the back of the building after trekking my way to the front 😂looking at maps after getting lost 😭 don't even get me started on waiting for them to answer the phone lol i love residential routes even more now after that . way easier and convenient
Better just to be a package handler? Right?
They had me do 26 totes and almost 30 or 48 over flow
sounds like your in peak
Actually, right before Hurricane Milton hitting us,
Do a 2 hour shift next
Would you say AMZN is a heavy buy?
Can you explain the delivery to the Amazon hub? Not seen one of those before, mini logistics hub for Flex drivers? So you’re essentially being one of the Amazon logistics semi trucks 😂
It's a special 2 day shipping building where they really only have flex drivers. They do have semi trucks Apparently they have lockers there and they order packages (assuming cleaning supplies, paper towels, ect.)
I feel like that bottle is going to sell out definitely unique
thanks I like to believe too. It's great for the gym, school, ect.
I got told when u deliver to a business to put it down as the customer
Great video as always!! Did you have to scan every package at Amazon hub of did you just scan each tote?
We scan hole cart at once only on rescues or nursery routes we scan each package or tote
we just scan the cart. When i first started I had to scan the overflow
Why do you wrap the seatbelt around the steering wheel?
easier to get in and out of the truck
It's easier on the shoulder than to keep on reaching over to the side repeatedly
UPS drivers does it as part of their 300 methods 😊
Why is it not in a Rivian van?
next time
