  • The Jain temple of Ranakpur in Rajasthan is famous in the world for its exquisite sculpture and architecture. Constructed in 15th century AD by Dharnasha on the banks of River Maghai in Aravali in an area of about 48,000 sq. ft., this chaturmukh temple is dedicated to the 1st Jain Tirthankar Lord Adinath. It is one of the five most sacred Jain pilgrimage site. It has 1444 beautifully sculptured pillars positioned in such a manner that the idol of Lord Adinath is visible from any corner of the temple. The temple is located on a slope and hence, many shikara tops, other smaller shikharas, cupolas, pyramids etc. can be seen high above the temple cluster.
