    My Heat Pump unit has the RVS solenoid on all the time. Even when unit is not calling for heat or cool. Only discovered this when the unit was off for a day and checking the solenoid was hot to touch.

    Great video and thank you! It makes things so much easier when you understand in more depth how something operates. I am working on a unit now that has a heating element and the blower fan running while in cooling mode but something went wrong with the pressures too so I'm not sure if something is also going on with the reversing valve too. But not sure.

    So you'd have to change the whole reversing valve in order to switch the system from energizing the valve in cooling to make it energize In heat?

  • @eretza666
    @eretza666 4 месяца назад

    can reversing get stuck and send high pressure on both lines(high and low ) on heating mode? both pressures rise equally on my gauge on heating mode, but on cooling mode works just fine

  • @FranciscoAz
    @FranciscoAz Год назад +1

    Should the reversing valve de-energize after the cooling cycle has been satisfied by the thermostat, or does it stay energized while the thermostat is in the cooling position?

    • @mtbbiker6401
      @mtbbiker6401 9 месяцев назад

      Mine does not de-energize. Whether the reversing valve is energized in Cool or Heat depends on the brand. I can't remember how my Trane works but I think it's "O" which means energized when call for cooling. I don't hear the reverse valve switch unless I turn the thermostat to OFF or Heat so I assume it stays energized in COOL even when the cooling cycle has been satisfied. If you have an automatic thermostat, not sure how that manages the reversing valve.

    • @mtbbiker6401
      @mtbbiker6401 9 месяцев назад

      I can confirm my Trane has the Reversing Valve energized during cooling. When the cooling cycle is satisfied, the reversing valve stays energized. I tested it with voltmeter. This means the reversing valve is not switching during normal cooling operation only when a call for heat for possibly when I turn the thermostat off completely.

    is goodman heat pump GSZB404210A good for 2014 mobile home? in amarillo texas , r19 walls, r25 roof, r 30 floor, singal pan widows, 1216 sqft home. not air tight it has leaks. temps below 20 is like 8 days during heating seanson. i set termostat to 74 f and am using electric furnace 10 kwh for 108 hours a month. my electric rate is 0.097 kwh. the highest bill to have was 250 but that is from whole home usage. the goodman heat pump says it uses 2.9 kwh at 10 f with a COP of 2.08 and a 2.7 kwh with COP of 1.34 at -5 f. the price for the 5 ton a-coil and 3.5 heat pump is $4,876. i can get 30% off that price on rebate then it whould be $3,413.235 also, why whould tech go with mortex 5 ton a-coil and 3.5 heat pump. thanks for help.

    how r u! I got questions I do get it hot gas come from discharge through capillary to shift reversing valve but where is suction line gas come from? Because I see the flow in video suction gas is not come from common suction line, low gas flow back to common suction! Where low gas come from? It’s doesn’t look like to from common suction? Thanks

    If you lift the energized coil off for testing purposes, the coil will cook / melt-down due to lack of inductive reactance?
    Learned that the hard way..

    why not have the electric mini value control the reversing value through a solenoid? why do we need to make the main large reversing value be controlled by refrigerant pressure instead of electrical signal directly?

    Have an O valve (energized for AC), LUX product bought by Johnson Controls (just ruined company with it's new app) caused heat pumps with O valves in August to go into heat pump mode while in AC thermostat mode, with no limit due to firmware downgrade. I've heard of deaths caused by AC in winter, but not from heat in summer as you would likely wake up while sleeping.
