- A sonar image uncovered by a South Carolina-based exploration team has reignited interest in one of aviation’s greatest mysteries.
Tony Romeo, founder and CEO of Deep Sea Visions, and his brother and project manager Lloyd Romeo, join #HeyJB Live on Wednesday to discuss the team’s findings and what are the next steps in verifying their discovery. #AmeliaEarhart #Discovery

Note: who ask these Q's A's bones disolve in the sea after a few years depending on the acidity levels so there is never skeletons found after years lost in the sea debts
The wings do appear swept back, so it doesn’t appear to be hers. However, depending on the impact, lengthy life underwater, and grainy sonar pictures…..it could be hers.
The underwater drone employed to map the seafloor was moving at considerable speed, and they think that was the reason for the sonar image being distorted.
Stories vary about her flying ability, but most say she was an average private pilot. Also, she picked a very perilous route across the Pacific. I'm still wondering why a remote ROV wasn't sent down to obtain visual confirmation 🤔
I dropped my big orange, Idid
The odds of both wings breaking, remaining mostly intact, and retaining similar angles after hitting the ocean floor is pretty low. Im assuming its a swept wing aircraft.
Went to public school didn’t you
That would be the best thing that has happened to this country in a long time. We can only hope it’s her airplane. Whatever funding these guys need the government needs to fund it. Better than sending all our money overseas!!!
Yes, by all means. Have the incompetent government fund the recovery at 20 times the usual cost.
Is the plane on it’s back, explaining the swept wing
Yes
Many planes made landings in the water
proof is in the photos
Swept wings and no engines...not plane
Yes it could be intact, and I think too much being made of the sweptback appearance.
i wonder if her skeleton body is in the plane
She's fish food
Bones dissolve in seawater.
I wonder if they had a raft on board.
Worst idea ever: "Hey, let's have the woman drive."
She wasn’t a good pilot.. she couldn’t land on land.. the erosion gets the thinnest parts first..
she could have damaged, hitting hard, weakening the center section, and if it travels or hits backwards.. it would probably fold up..
So we will see. I don’t think she made it to the island like being sold…
Amelia's plane remained intact because it couldn't even get off the ground and she didn't know how to fly.
Not much with that name amelia if u know knew someone with that nombre no thnks
It does look like a small aircraft, if thts what it is, and it's her plane.... thts a needle in a haystack success story if I've ever heard one.
The government should pay the finders for the craft if it's legit. And the finders should b willing to give it up for proper investigation, restoration, and display
I believe it’s about a mile or so deeper than the titanic. Can they retrieve it at that depth?
@@DeeLite220 if ppl can dive to the titanic successfully, then I'm fairly certain they could retrieve a much smaller object from a slightly deeper spot. They would need a team of advanced/robust salvage vessels. Australia has some good ships for tht use, i believe. I could b wrong tho. Amelia's aircraft was extremely light, an aluminum body I think, so thts why I believe recovery is a possibility
@@DeeLite220 jeezus youtube is doing some serious censorship campaign lol rooster blockers engage
@@DeeLite220 NO
@@gregorylyon1004 Technically they can, but it would be very, very, very expensive.
