To be honest, the graphic design isn't very clear on what the next available step is. Ideally, you'd want the next step to be outlined in a darker shade of black. As it stands, it's kinda hard to differentiate at a glance and it's easy to miss.
Agreed. My favorite track is the final boss one. It's so epic.. when I managed to reach The Eye of the Storm for the first time, and it kicked in, man - I felt like I was in a movie doing a final epic showdown.
It's giving you that slight adrenaline rush after a brainstorm session, always makes me a little nervous if a strategy would pull off as well as it did in my head.
the thing with games like this is that NL is perfect streamer to market the game. he played the game just above infuriating level so that we are intrigued to pick this up ourselves. at least, I did.
Outside of basic mistakes (mostly just from this being a new game to him) he played really well this run. Picking armor for your tank hero is a good call, and once he had an armor card he wasn't afraid to keep picking armor synergy and taking advantage of it. If he didn't completely use the wrong card in his final turn, this run had a good thing going.
What I find funny is when I watch these videos, I keep seeing these misplays and am like arrgh you should've done this or that - but when I'm in the saddle (i.e. playing) I pretty much make the same mistakes also. Almost makes me wanna get a backseat gamer to coach me/back me up/be a voice of reason so we can both together analyze and have the other person point out my potential misplays xD
Hahah yeah I thought.. why use him, your leader can tank for a while and smackback setting up chompmon to do downright insane damage, and save up chompmon to smacback the bosses.
Another great boost to my strategies was learning that you can actually unequip your crowns and move them around, inclusind putting them on items (regular cards).
I would be so down for this to be the next 500 part series, dude. I'm in love with this game in a way I've not been in love with a roguelike thing since Monster Train came out (or I guess since SAP if you want to consider that a roguelike).
I also would love that but the game doesn't have enough content to sustain that much gameplay. It's a great game and I recommend it but there really isn't a ton to explore.
Love that part of the Bigfoot fight when he really gets into the groove and starts moving companions around. Love to see NL in his lane, mousturized, flourishing.
Fun fact: If you are missing 1 coin to buy an item in the shop.. you can keep clicking on the item to "beg" the shopkeeper to give it to you, and she will cave-in and be like "Ok, fine you can take it for 21 coins"
NL playing this game and seeing the mixed steam reviews made me annoyed enough to play it myself. Got it yesterday and already have about 4-5 hours on it and the game is honestly amazing. Sure, it's a pretty difficult game but everything is pretty much telegraphed and just takes some time to think through. Got up to about the 3rd boss pretty much as a beginner.
This feels like the perfect blend of Monster Train and Slay the Spire. Monster train was one of my favorite series from NL so I pog for every dang episode of Wildfrost.
37:30 "As much as you may think you need the crown on Kernel, you want it on nutshell cake so that shelbo comes out after kernel comes out." My brother in Christ, if you put it on Kernel, shelbo will always come out after.
This game definitely looks like it requires much more thought than other card game rougelikes. The mixed reviews are probably because of that sharp learning curve.
Honestly I feel like its more strategy than deck builder when comparing it to for example Slay the Spire. Obviously still has deck builder elements, but you don't make that many changes to your deck.
Hahah in one run I was legit thinking where to put the teeth charm on.. my instincts were to put it on my leader, but then I thought wait..... if I do that and win.. how on earth will I be able to kill him when he ascends?
@@PhantomThiefXI Yeah the thing is, after the first win, you really gotta think about which strategy now *counters* your previous one. Some people dislike this - since it can make subsequent runs harder, but I think it's interesting because you're facing a unique final encounter each time - plus it discourages you from using same build/strategy over and over (2 leaders with smackback would smack back each other into infinity until one of them falls)
The game isn't difficult because it's unfair - but rather because we humans don't manage to grasp all of its mechanics and strategize properly - leading to our own doom.
He played the wrong card. He mentioned his mistake directly after. It's hard to backseat this game without knowing all the mechanics that are not obvious. If he used the right card, Snoofy would've slowed the boss, delayed it by one turn. It also would've reduced the counter for Chompon by 1, allowing it to get faster to his turn to hit. So it was the better play. Nothing to get tilted about other than selecting the wrong card
22 runs (8 hours) in without a win, but I’ve gotten to the final fight (at least I think so). Very challenging game, but I still keep wanting to play. While there may be some balancing changes needed, overall, I think it’s a game that truly rewards skill and strategy much more than RNG.
I won my 7th run, lost 3, then won 3 in a row. I feel pretty confident I can win the majority of runs at this point. I think the game actually relies very little on luck and 100% winrate actually seems achievable.
NL clicking on the shop 3 times because he kept forgetting that he already went there has me cackling right now lol
We go to the Woolly Snail.
"i've made a mistake..... okay take me to the Woolly Snail"

@@LinoWalker That's fair, it probably should be changed. Making the mistake once is understandable. Twice though... that's still pretty funny.
I could watch a 2 hour long compilation of NL just saying the companion names. Cracks me up
We move Kernel up so he takes the hit from the Gromble, buffing Chompom who kills the Bigfoot
Just wait two weeks I’m sure the librarian will deliver

I LOVED inscription. Did my first play through stoned. Incredible experience

So basically Inscryption if P03 put some effort into the visuals and cuteness.

it's a good game. A deckbuilder where it's hard to beat the story mode is rare. Just got my first win after like 30 tries with a poison build.
Using the unit who scales off nuts to tank all the hits, thus destroying all his nuts. Never change nut, i mean egg
especially worse when kernel appears and he still keeps caking chompom
Watching NL puzzle out plays that constantly almost get him killed until it finally does actually kill him is incredibly stressful
I don't want to start the backseating this early but when he let chompom take 10 damage I wept.
Hahah yeah I thought.. why use him, your leader can tank for a while and smackback setting up chompmon to do downright insane damage, and save up chompmon to smacback the bosses.
I think in the moment he literally just forgot chompoms damage was tied to his armour
Him messing up is still very funny
@@eeee6937 oh, dont get me wrong it was hilarious
Learning from NL that Aimless only hits the same row was a game changer for me. Those aimless 7 attack monster's were destroying every run for me

Rewind it Back.
Chompoms got the booty to make Beetle go
WHACK
That ending drove me nuts (pun intended), why didnt he move the hero out of the target area
Philosophers has been wondering about that for millenia.
because then the pet would've died which is obviously worse than the hero dying of course
But he couldn’t moved his nutted out character back instead of the pet
Or he could’ve recalled his pet for the heal…
